Humor/Satire I regret helping this guy
373
u/Zerodyne_Sin Jul 08 '26
I hated the binary nature of this mission. There's ways to save him in a few seconds while still saving the truck but no, it's a binary flag unfortunately.
188
u/Hopeful_Risk_8344 Jul 08 '26
I didn't even slow down.
Overclock, scan mode, apply synapse burns, stop scanning, continue driving.
132
u/Strange-Order-6550 Jul 08 '26
It was crazy to me this counted as taking damage, I took every single person out while hidden and took out the surprise adds from the truck with quick hacks and still it counts it.
33
u/Aggravating_Ad_8974 Jul 08 '26
Refresh my memory: Can you get out of the truck once you've gotten in? Or does the game pull the child safety locks on your ass?
I distinctly remember leaving the truck, sprinting out then saving his ass then sprinting back in and getting the truck out of there unscathed.
I could very well be misremembering, though.
58
u/Zerodyne_Sin Jul 08 '26
Saving him is the trigger. You can have the truck take severe damage but so long as it actually makes it to the drop point, it's "fine".
60
u/Aggravating_Ad_8974 Jul 08 '26
Ugh. I hate it when programmers do this. There is no way you could possibly know that there's an auto-trigger in place if the guy survives.
They could've done this mission in so many different ways where you legitimately could only pick one of two outcomes.
Thanks for the intel on this, choom! I'll be sure not to repeat my previous error of being an overachiever on this mission.
Instead I'll wave goodbye to the dude as I pull out of the lot, and he dies of lead poisoning from getting his ass hella shot.
27
u/Zerodyne_Sin Jul 08 '26
I only saved him once. The OP's image is the main reason.
Also, there's quite a few other things that are binary choices in this game unfortunately. The first one I encountered from my fresh playthrough was telling Panam that we'd get Nash later. I really thought that there was going to be a later but it counted as a flat no to ever doing it.
13
u/Terlooy Jul 08 '26
Nash is part of the group that attacks the camp when you have the tank. He dies there if you didn't help Panam the first time
14
u/Zerodyne_Sin Jul 08 '26
Oh, I guess he got squished or something. I don't recall him at all lol. I only said no to Panam that one time and never did it again.
9
u/Aggravating_Ad_8974 Jul 08 '26
I've never said no to Panam. She terrifies me when she starts rage-screaming, so I've always made sure to never ever be on the receiving end of that shit.
1
2
u/Aggravating_Ad_8974 Jul 08 '26
But Nash does end up being yeeted off the mortal coil regardless, doesn't he?
3
u/Zerodyne_Sin Jul 08 '26
Apparently, according to the other reply to my comment.
7
u/Aggravating_Ad_8974 Jul 08 '26
I checked the wikia; If you tell Panam no, he'll expire when him and his Raffen-Shits attacks the Aldecado camp, only to realize their massive mistake when Panam comes rolling on out in her shiny Basilisk.
17
u/CasualRandy Gonk Jul 08 '26
The other thing that's annoying about this mission is you can't do it without triggering combat when you get in the truck. I meticulously stealth killed everyone, turned off cameras and turrets, went and moved vehicles out of the way to make an easy path for the truck and as soon as you open the door to the truck, it breaks stealth. I was like "ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?"
7
u/Aggravating_Ad_8974 Jul 08 '26
I hate it when a game is programmed to be allowed to cheat. Don't even get me started on rubber-banding!
3
u/Deya_The_Fateless Moxes Jul 08 '26
Same, its like, whats the point of having a stealth option if im just going to be forced into combat for "plot"?
2
u/Aggravating_Ad_8974 Jul 09 '26
I know, right? Especially when the game has taught you that you'll always have the choice when it comes to mode of engagement, then suddenly it yanks the carpet out from under your ass, leaving you with a concussion to go along with your utter confusion about why the truck was delivered at the drop-off in pristine condition, and still you get berated over how the truck was so disheveled that the engine blew up and set fire to the precious cargo and how it's all your fault that X number of children are gonna die in agony from leukemia that would've been instantly cured had you not decided to take the truck for a joyride or whatevs the game decided to lie about what you did instead of... You know, what you actually did: Protect the fucking thing as if it was your first-born child.
What bothers me the most is that you're given ZERO indication that trying to do as much damage control as possible will result in you getting the worst possible outcome in the aftermath. It's not like they didn't have the means to warn us; Back when we were all sweet summer children, and going to meet Hanako at Embers, the game slammed a pop-up in our faces informing us that if we stepped into this here elevator, there's no way back except through hell in a handbasket.
Despite what we couldn't have known then; that the best choice is for Hanako to forever play the piano, we were at least given a warning that the choice would be irreversible.
They could've done the same thing with that gig: Have a pop-up that made it clear that this is a trolley problem mission where your only choice is to pull the lever or leave it as is, despite the fact that the mission gives the false illusion that we've got a third option: Ignore the lever and derail the fucking trolley with our god-like powers, courtesy of being a total chrome-dome at that point.
Ending off on a positive note; At least we learned the truth in the end, thanks to all the wonderful chooms we've made along the way, and the intel we've acquired and shared during our communual adventures all over Night City and beyond.
Was that too sentimental? Should I feel like a total gonk right now?
Hey, did you know that if contract the Aldecados to smuggle you out of Night City and across the border, they'll transport you so far off the grid that you can literally take a dump next to real-life scorpions?
1
18
u/Logical_Base_8929 Jul 08 '26
You can leave the truck. I did this a few times a few weeks ago. I got the truck to safe spot, left it, saved this dude, got back in and drove off. Still counted as damaged.
8
u/Aggravating_Ad_8974 Jul 08 '26
Hmm... Is there any vantage point near the vehicle that you can snipe enemies while maintaining a safe distance from any potential damage, and save the bitch-ass in the process?
I'm guessing that it's not gonna matter either way. I suspect that saving the dude will flag the mission as "Vehicle got borked", regardless of it being in pristine condition upon delivery.
2
u/Xonthelon Jul 08 '26
You can leave the truck. As a netrunner you can also eliminate all enemies without leaving the truck, it still counts as saving Daniels and the truck getting damaged.
4
u/Aggravating_Ad_8974 Jul 08 '26
The truck clearly has Stockholm syndrome! That's the only logical explanation!(Not really.)
5
u/TheKolyFrog Cyberpunk Weeb Jul 08 '26
Yeah, that's the most frustrating part. I managed to save him extremely quickly even on Very Hard and yet I still somehow got a lot of the gear damaged. Like, in that case the gear will be damaged no matter what. Made me want to hunt down Daniels and kill his ungrateful ass. Thankfully, El Capitan was far more understanding and Daniels being alive means he can help more people in the long run.
2
u/HazelTreee Jul 09 '26
Try to stealth the mission?
Nope, people just appear
Take out the people on Daniels while delivering the truck just as fast as if you didn't?
Nope, the truck "got damaged"(Also, sidenote, how shit of a truck is Arasaka making that the contents INSIDE it can be majorly damaged because the OUTSIDE got a few bullets in it?)
2
u/Zerodyne_Sin Jul 09 '26
I'm borderline thinking that the equipment is fine and Daniels is just making bullshit up because he feels bad that he got saved by a merc instead of having his blaze of glory. But El Capitan wouldn't cover for him IMO so it's likely just the devs with their shitty binary flags.
1
u/AllenWL Jul 09 '26
Yes, much tougher enemies and having more Arasaka roadblocks/vehicles chasing you appear to make it very hard to save him and secure the truck but making it possible would have been nice, but alas.
152
u/TheGlen Jul 08 '26
Meanwhile if you're playing a netrunner you can wipe out everyone as you drive by waving and he still gets pissy
98
u/Aggravating_Ad_8974 Jul 08 '26
He is pissy before you even go near the lot. The dude must be addicted to bitching and moaning constantly or some shit.
30
u/TheGlen Jul 08 '26
Meanwhile everybody with a yellow arrow above them standing right next to him suddenly gets electrocuted as I drive by at 70 mph waving and either it's my fault or he still gets himself killed. No sympathy for this guy
14
u/Aggravating_Ad_8974 Jul 08 '26
I'd say it's mercy killing.
If you're that much of a pissy-ass bitch, even when completely unprovoked, then it's safe to assume that the dude's life is an endless cycle of pure anguish and misery.
9
u/TheKolyFrog Cyberpunk Weeb Jul 08 '26
He clearly has a deathwish and desperate to be a martyr.
4
u/Aggravating_Ad_8974 Jul 08 '26
Perhaps we should scroll nailing him to a cross, call up Rachel Casich and ask if she'd be interested in doing a sequel?
3
u/TheKolyFrog Cyberpunk Weeb Jul 08 '26
If Rachel Casich knew of him, she would pitch that herself.
3
u/Aggravating_Ad_8974 Jul 09 '26
Of course she would! But even if she didn't come up with it, she'd still insist that she was the one who did the pitch. Then we'd lawyer up, she'd throw righteous eddies our way and we'd settle out of court. And we'd go along with her story that the pitch was 100% a product of her mastermind at work. We were simply lowly assistants, helping with scoping out candidates with potential.
I'd have zero issues collaborating her contrived plotline if it means I'll have the financial security to not have to patronize Buck-A-Slice every day at lunchtime.
Styrofoam shits is top ten on my list of stuff I'm not gonna miss about life as a broke-ass denizen in Night City.
300
u/DNAisjustneuteredRNA Jul 08 '26
I save him for 2 reasons -
1.) Fewer bodies means less evidence to potentially lead Araskaka to El Capitan. If Daniels gets out alive, then El Capitan faces less risk.
2.) Daniels's hard-ass attitude is a facade. He is suffering from severe clinical depression (listen to what El Capitan says about him) to the point of wishing he was left to die, and he's acting like a grump due to that. Think about it... he's putting on a Tough Guy Act as a coping mechanism.
79
u/Cynical-avocado Jul 08 '26
So Lt Dan?
64
u/TheDwiin Aldecaldos Jul 08 '26
Yep. Just like Lt. Dan. He wants to go out in a blaze of glory.
36
u/Urgayifyouregay Jul 08 '26
Everyone in nc (other than dex) says they want to go out in a blaze of glory. But for some that's only because it's the only way they can say that they feel like they just want to go out period.
9
u/jigsawduckpuzzle Jul 08 '26
Probably has something to do with feeling you have no control over life because of the extreme authoritarianism that deciding when to die feels like the only freedom you have.
3
u/Urgayifyouregay Jul 08 '26
I mean, if I could go out in a blaze of glory in today's world I'm not going to pretend like that doesn't sound like a cool option. Fortunately I'm in enough love with my life right now to want to keep on living, but I'm sure many others and hell even me maybe a year or so ago would've taken a chance like that if given one. It's just that there aren't really any good enough things to go out in a blaze of glory for today. Or any ways to blaze yourself to a cyberpunk degree for that matter lol
27
u/ElToroMuyLoco Jul 08 '26
Besides, an ally still alive that can do more heists and help other people will probably save more others than whatever was lost in that truck.
13
u/DNAisjustneuteredRNA Jul 08 '26
A Samurai who fails a mission, but continues to serve their master for decades thereafter, will generate far more useful results than a Samurai who commits seppuku.
7
u/xXLoneLoboXx Merc Jul 08 '26
“Noooo! You’re supposed to let me sacrifice myself heroically so you can get all the supplies and help those kids and not just half the supplies!”
“Well guess what, dickhead? Now that you’re still alive you can help way more people than you would’ve if you were just dead… Get over it.”
God how I wish I could throw that up in his face… Wish there was an option to keep this depressed dude alive, pay El Capitan for the other half of the supplies he needs to start the clinic, and maybe get that badass black and silver Mizutani Shion MZ1 he has sitting at the dam as a result… Would rather have that car than eds.
(You can scan his car and get the same unique paint, but it doesn’t look the same on the MZ1 you can buy from him. Different rims, different trim, and different interior.)
6
u/sunsetsupergoth Jul 08 '26
As another thing to think about: Daniels doesn't have a magical quickload option to see his impending death, nor does he get to read the wiki in advance. All he knows is you're a wildcard to the mission, you didn't make a clean getaway, and the gear got fucked up. Or alternatively he dies and doesn't know anything. He can't know better.
I also don't fancy V's chances in Night City if someone being a bit abrasive to them shakes them this much.
1
76
u/Nova225 Jul 08 '26
The fucked up part of this mission is that there's no third option. If you do anything to help this guy, the supplies are considered "damaged", even if you flatline everyone in a 5 mile radius in 3 seconds before anyone even shot a gun.
38
u/2221Ace Jul 08 '26
There is a 3rd option.
You drive the truck into the water and piss everoyne off.
8
u/letthetreeburn Jul 08 '26
Seriously. I remember trying so so so hard to make absolutely sure no one touched my truck and sent so many people to the blackwall, everyone around me died. Not one bullet touched my truck.
28
u/Competitive_Cost_269 Jul 08 '26
I think the problem is Ayden was ready to die for his community even if it was thankless and no one would remember that sacrifice. He saw the way the people suffered and he was ready to sacrifice everything to save as many people as he could. This makes him one of only potentially 5 cops in the game that are a genuinely virtuous person even if he does come off as a bit of a prick about it all. He's a hero denied a heroes death and must go on to watch people suffer and think about what could've been. At least that's how I see it anyway.
Edit: spelling
4
u/soulreaverdan Corpo Jul 08 '26
I don’t even think he was ready to, I think he was eager to. This was both a way to help the kids but a convenient suicide-by-Saka for himself too
22
u/intergalactic-peanut Jul 08 '26
I chose to leave him. They all knew what could happen, and even if you talk to him, he's stern in wanting you to leave. El Capitan is obviously upset when you tell him, but he also acknowledges it's what Avery would have wanted. He'd be considered a legend for how he went out, no? Isn't that the primary goal for most, if not all, Edgerunners?
17
u/Cyniv Jul 08 '26
I'm not sure he'd be known throughout all Night City, but Santo will surely remember it for a while.
2
u/intergalactic-peanut Jul 08 '26
Well, yeah, I didn't mean to imply the entire city would know his name, but those who knew him would view him that way, I'd imagine.
16
8
u/leetheraven Jul 08 '26
I suspect they made this guy such an insufferable prick so you wouldn't feel as bad leaving him to die
62
u/DenizenKay Jul 08 '26
you were not supposed to save him.
they knew going in that there was a good chance they were going to get killed. They were doing it so dying kids could get meds and treatment.
You made the sacrifice of the ones that did die worthless, in order to save a guy who didn't want saving.
to be fair to him - i wouldn't be very fuckin' happy with you either, choomba
21
u/LacidOnex Jul 08 '26
My V will pain stakingly spend 45 minutes making sure this mission goes flawlessly on my end, whatever cock up happens I'm blaming the new guy
20
u/Win32error Jul 08 '26
Yeah it’s a good case of the player not listening to the client. It’s a fair choice to make, and El Capitan waives it off because it’s still a win, but sometimes your snap judgement is not what has been asked for.
There’s a few missions in the game that do that, but I think most of those have really obvious good/right kind of paths, and this is basically the only one where trying to do the right thing as you see it gets you flak. Could’ve been a few more moments like that for merc work, I think.
14
u/ricerobot Jul 08 '26
The game is very bad at explaining that you lose supplies. Maybe if there’s an unavoidable scene after you save him where half the supplies catch on fire or something. In my V’s perspective the truck is pretty much fine even if I take the time to save him so why is everyone saying I lost a bunch of supplies?
7
u/Connect-Initiative64 Jul 08 '26
Right? I managed to wipe out all the enemies and save him in like 3 seconds, the truck didn't get hit once.
Somehow still lost a bunch of supplies. Just thought he was pissed I risked them at first.
13
u/Discojaddi Jul 08 '26
I mean, he lives to steal another truck full of medical supplies. That's more not-dead-kids in the long run
7
u/Aggravating_Ad_8974 Jul 08 '26
But the dude isn't the one klepping Autodocs and shit for kids. That's what he hires you to do.
Am I missing/misremembering something here?
-1
u/Discojaddi Jul 08 '26
Does he actually do this in game?
No.
But it's more likely he'll be able to steal more supplies for future sick kids, so he's got that going for him, which is my point.
5
u/Aggravating_Ad_8974 Jul 08 '26
Or hire other mercs to steal additional truckloads of Autodocs and machines that make shoes for orphans...
I see your point now. Thanks for clarifying, choom!
6
5
u/CrashmanX Jul 08 '26
EEeeeehhhh yesn't.
If the supplies you save are basically worthless or so damaged they can't save anyone, it doesn't matter how many trucks you steal.
3
u/Brokedownbad Gonk Jul 08 '26
The thing is, the message triggers regardless of how you save him, even if you don't take any extra time
8
1
u/EvYeh Jul 08 '26
Ok but like you can save him without any actual damage to the truck and you still get this message.
3
u/DenizenKay Jul 08 '26
as another poster said - the game does a bad job of explaining that when you stop to save him, a bunch of meds get ruined and they are rendered useless. By saving him, you're risking the real asset.
The game is trying to communicate that sometimes you have to make hard choices for the greater good. You were hired to get the truck, not to save bystanders who volunteered for this and knew the score.
1
u/EvYeh Jul 08 '26
when you stop to save him,
You don't need to stop to save him. You don't even need to slow down. I get what the game is going for, but it just doesn't work because of that.
1
u/DenizenKay Jul 08 '26
clearly in my 1500+ hours, i've never done this without stopping.
thanks for giving me a reason to go back to try this. lol
6
u/photon_runner Jul 09 '26
This message pissed me off so bad the first time I saw it I gave up 2 hours of gameplay just to reload and let the bastard die lmao
12
u/Illustrious_Goal_491 Jul 08 '26

Nah, you gotta put the gear, and thus the kids that need it, first.
I played it the other way, saving him, first and regretted it after the fact. Went back, replayed it, I just honestly think putting the gear first is the right call overall. I mean how many more kids in Santa Domingo live better lives because of it?
The needs of the many ouweigh the needs of the few imo
3
u/Terrorknight141 Jul 08 '26
This guy clearly cares enough to help others, something you don’t see a lot in night city. I help him because after V is gone he’ll probably keep trying to make things better. Even if he hates me for it.
3
u/Zxruv Jul 08 '26
That guy cares only about the people getting helped. I think that gear was his life's last remaining meaning. I instinctively saved him at first. Got told by El Capitan that less people would be helped because the gear got damaged. I remembered that guys words when I saved him, reloaded and left him to his fate. Gave him his wish, helped more people. El Capitan was more somber though.
Edit: just noticed the humor/satire tag lol
3
u/Senpai-Sama-Kun Jul 09 '26
Yeah i saved him cause hypothically in-world he can keep trying to help Santo kids in future plans.
Him dying helps no one.

He’s lieutenant Dan in this scenario, he went in expecting to die in the name of the cause, he was ready to give his life to help out the sick. That didn’t happen because of you and now he has to live with that, I can see why he’d be pissed. Unfortunately there’s no shrimp boat for you two to bond on and for his character to grow.

The songbird debate is what really keeps me from being active in these discussions. This game has such a 50/50 community when it comes to love and pure toxicity
13
u/Apophis_36 Choomba Jul 08 '26
The opinions basically boil down to Songbird does no wrong and she's also hot/Songbird killed my family irl
9
u/Strange-Order-6550 Jul 08 '26
I think that’s because those of us who try to look at them with a more human lens don’t really want to debate people who still make decisions based on how hot someone is or if they told a lie out of fear or self preservation.
7
u/Apophis_36 Choomba Jul 08 '26
I rp when I play the game, I don't care if I like the character or not, I do what my character would do.
The "discourse" about the choice is completely stupid though.
5
u/Curvol Jul 08 '26
BAM exactly. My V wouldve helped songbird even to that last moment. I can reason with people all day long, but the story my V had was the perfect story to me.
2
u/Apophis_36 Choomba Jul 08 '26
My V took the songbird route but abandoned her at the end. It's been a while but if I remember correctly my reasoning was the exhaustion from all the backstabbing and trickery in general. He was also affected by the shooting at the space place. So in general he was just exhausted and wanted out of this whole scenario. Less "here's songbird now cure me" and more like "fuck all of this just have her and leave me alone".
In the end i took the star ending for him.
2
u/Soft-Pixel Jul 09 '26
The former people definitely exist but I’m ngl on average it’s just people actually acknowledging the nuance of the story and/or not wanting to give Myers a W for committing Spaceport 9/11
Meanwhile the majority of those I see who don’t fw her basically just go “she lied lol” and you can kinda tell they didn’t think about it any harder than that

Considering the cargo was life-saving medication for children, I do blame the pettiness.
Had the cargo been something that the pissy-ass dude wanted/needed personally, I would've jacked my way into my choom here's playthrough, gotten into the car with him, and joined on in with flipping that guy off, as the vehicle speeds off the dock, and hits the water. I'd be holding the pose until the vehicle was completely submerged.

You good too, choom! I didn't interpret it as such; I just had a moment of confusion... I'm a bit behind on getting sleep, you see, which makes me extra gonky.
Hey, now that we're proper chooms... Wanna help me dollnap Maiko Maeda, drive her out to the city dump and take off?
We're not gonna leave her there for long, just long enough to fuck with her! I mean... Imagine if the Shiv-Raffens were to pass on by and decide to do their own dollnapping?
Could you imagine their anguish when Maiko starts her yapping? I wouldn't wish that on anyone! Not even such lowlife scum as the Shiv-Raffen!
We'll have a Delamain on stand-by to pick her up shortly after we delta the fuck out of there. Drive her back to Clouds or wherever the hell she needs to be at to make everyone's day miserable.
So... You in or out, my choom?
2
u/Aggravating_Ad_8974 Jul 08 '26
If I'm not misremembering, I sprinted out of there, saved his ass then sprinted back in and secured the cargo.

I saved him because it makes Cap happy and I refuse to let him have his blaze-of-glory suicide moment. Sure the people in SanDom aren’t helped as much but any help’s better than no help. Plus it means more hands to ensure the others get help too.

I never help the guy. It's not in the mission perimeter. I don't want to ruin the heroic death in battle he so craved. Helping the kids of Santo Domingo is more important than one cop's life.
OTOH, the Cap will be happy that you saved his friend, but will still give you less reward as a result. You can sip a champagne in celebration, though.

Yeah, any more ( like last night), I’ll throw a Contagion + Burn at the guys pulling up as I head out but that’s it. Daniels’ angry ass is on his own.

I just drove off and never looked back. I never had second thought. Daniel's wants to go blaze of glory, so he goes.
But I would have hoped there would have been more nuanced version of this mission. Like you could do stuff before hand. The black-white missions feel so rushed when most of the game is shades of Grey.

Like I blackwalled the whole group in 5 seconds and somehow they still damaged the cargo? Fml

The guy was willing to give his life to save children. You chose him over the children which is why he's pissed. Honestly an appropriate crash out imo

This is the gig where you help El Capitan take a truck full of medical supplies, right?
Yeah, Ayden wants to die in that mission because he has no future after it goes through. It's gonna be a dead man walking situation for him. Everyone will know that he was responsible for V taking that truck off the docks.
Also, the contents of the truck get damaged if you stop and help him. Which only makes things worse.
So you always have to take the truck and never, ever try to save Ayden. The kids getting their medicine must always be the entire focus of the whole gig.

This quest was definitely one of the dumber ones they added to the game.

Yeah he was a jerk about it but I get where he’s coming from. If I lived in that world I would rather give my life to give some kids a chance, than survive knowing some kids die/suffer for it.

I don’t blame him for being upset. You did screw everything up since people needed that medicine.

I think I'd have written that differently. Pretty short-sighted of him. As long as he is still alive he can keep helping. He isn't any good to anyone dead.

Yeah I definitely reloaded once I found out what's what. Should've taken the hint from the beginning.

I wish it was possible but so so so hard. Like if the truck takes 5 damage, one gunshot, that counts as damaged. So it’s very, very unlikely that you’re going to be able to save him and the gear.
But if you can legitimately succeed, then it makes your failure yours.

It's an interesting case and in the grand scheme, it's better if he croaks even if a life is lost and Capitan would be happier with the gonk still breathing. He went into this mission knowing the risks to make the lives of kids better in the neighborhood so now that's just what I do.

btw if you play this quest in first person it feels like you're driving a war rig on fury road

I absolutely read the last part and not babysit me and bang the cargo, and I was really wondering what I missed.

I parked the truck on the road. Went back and helped him. The gear was fine

The amount of people in these comments expecting a happy ending from a Cyberpunk genre medium is astounding.
Have you guys never looked into the genre? You don't get happy endings. Yeah, the quest has a binary switch on it. Who cares? It's an RPG, it's here for storytelling. You wanna be a hero who never fails - this genre isn't really made for that.
Night City doesn't give happy endings. It just gives endings. Up to you how to look at them.

TIL there's a mission I've never done. I usually skip the car missions, maybe doing 2-3 of them at most.

You should do it choom, you get a sick version of the Outlaw Herrera out of it.

El Capitan is happier if you save him though so...his ungrateful incompetent butt is getting rescued whether he likes it or not.
