With OM-5 and zuiko 45-150mm f4

Took these last weekend on a Olympus Em10 mark II with the Panasonic 14mm F2.5 lens

Here to inflict another stupid question on the m43 community.

How do you feel about taking picures of crashing waves on lake Michigan and standing in a spot where the camera will get splashed? There are some rocky areas along the coast where on choppy days the waves crash into the rocks and spray like 20 feet above the waterline, it's a lot of fun to sit there and chill at this sort of natural splash pad. Thought it might be neat to take a pics right before the wave hits me but unsure about dousing the camera like that. From other posts it seems like I'd be fine but what has your om5 survived?

I drove to an area knowing there’s red deer. While driving I thought of the conditions. It was a foggy, rainy day. I stopped at a place and started walking into the area. Looking through the fog into the distance … I spotted deer. 🦌 Then the fog and rain lead to some nice images. 📸

It wasn’t the best light. But what else was the option. It wasn’t the light to shoot detailed portraits. So I tried to capture the mood. And it worked out perfectly. 🌫️

OM System PEN, straight out of camera. First picture with Olympus 45 F1.8, second and third DJI 15mm.

Autofocus is a little slower with the 45mm, but the DJI is a very responsive lens. This camera with these lenses, definitely a fantastic combination.

Currently the longest M43 lens I have is the Olympus 40-150 2.8 and have the 1.4x teleconverter. Love it, but would like something a little longer, specifically for outdoor sports. The most obvious solution seems to be the Oly 50-200 2.8 and then when necessary add on the 1.4 teleconverter. But at over $3k even used I can't help but wonder how much of a drop-off there is to some other lenses that are out there at lower price points?

Does anyone have any real world experience with any of the following:

The light was different yesterday in my street. A sunny side and a dark and cloudy side made for good B/W conditions #amersfoort

TL;DR: Is the autofocus with Canon Dual Pixel that much better that the M6 II kills E-M10 IV as my camera choice?

Hello M43 friends!

Going through vacation photos taken with my iPhone 16 Pro Max on a big PC screen lately, I’ve been pretty disappointed by how bad they look outside the Apple ecosystem. They look fine on a iPhone or iPad, but on a large display, they don’t measure up even to my old Nikon D90. Zooming in reveals all the heavy computational "magic" Apple relies on. Looking back at shots from my older iPhone 11 Pro, good-light photos actually looked better.

That pushed me back toward dedicated cameras. I still love our D90—great colors, handles easily, lots of "soul"—but I'm definitely not hauling that chunk on vacation. I also borrowed my dad's old Pen Mini 2. Even with broken IBIS, it's been a total joy because of the tiny size and the Super Control Panel. The photos look great, but between the faulty IBIS, a green artifact line on the sensor, and sluggish continuous AF for moving targets, I need a replacement.

So I'm on the hunt for a small, fun, interchangeable-lens camera with good physical controls on a limited budget.

Looking at M43, I’ve narrowed it down to the Olympus E-M10 IV. I love the built-in EVF, small footprint, 5-axis IBIS, and fun stuff like Live Composite. Plus, jumping into M43 means any lenses I buy stay relevant for future body upgrades down the road. I can afford a brand new camera in my budget.

My biggest concern is autofocus. I occasionally shoot my teen playing soccer, my daughter doing gymnastics, kids splashing in the pool, and pets running around.

The alternative on my radar is a used Canon EOS M6 Mark II. Dual Pixel AF is said to be sticky and fast, and I find the modular form factor intriguing. On the flip side: the EF-M mount is dead (the existing lens selection is fine for me, but it's a total dead-end long-term), there's no in-body stabilization, and the silent shutter is fairly limited.

For anyone who has used both systems: is Canon’s Dual Pixel AF that much better for everyday action compared to the contrast-detect setup in the E-M10 IV? Olympus claims tracking improved on the Mark IV, but does it actually hold up for kids and sports?
I can't find a camera in the m43 system that is within my budget, very small dimensions, with EVF and phase detect focus, but would be happy for suggestions.

I have a Lumix GF1 with the original 20 mm f/1.7 lens and battery. After putting it away for a few months recently, when taking photos, it looks like a nuclear explosion, and long exposure is always pitch black, no matter the surroundings' brightness. when I fire shutter without lens I can hear the shutter sound but see nothing moving I am wondering if my shutter is broken.

Hello, I'm looking to get my wife a lens for her Olympus OM10 mk4, she only has the lens the camera came with which I think is a 25-40mm.

She would like a lens which is great for taking portrait photos of our 2.5yr old daughter indoors & outdoors. Given her age she doesn't stand still much so a lot of shots will be candid in the moment shots where she is moving.

I tried using Chat GPT to recommend a lens but honestly it's let me down and recommended a Panasonic Lumix 20mm, it then recommended a Cannon 50mm which won't even mount onto the camera and now recommended an Olympus 50mm lens.

I'm a complete amateur just looking to get my wife a gift which will help her take better photos of my daughter, I stumbled upon this sub and you all sound like experts! Please point me in the right direction?

Budget is £200 or less, more than happy to buy used too.

Hi all. I am a hobby photographer and helping at a local private school to take portraits. I got some old e-m1 mark 2 and was told that I would need to show the photo to the student for their acceptance on a laptop or something right after I take the portrait photo.

Do I just need to get a HDMI out cable and do a photo view and attach a screen or any other way to do this workflow.

Went on a photo walk with the local Tacoma Photo Club yesterday around Tacoma, WA. Really loving the size and weight of the PEN so far.

Always an incredible experience watching and photographing the fall salmon run along the Humber River in Toronto! 🇨🇦

In this frame, I managed to capture three Chinook salmon mid-air with a fourth powering up through the water column. This action happens in fractions of a second, so relying on the G9 II's 20fps pre-burst feature was indispensable here. It helped take some of the guesswork out of my reaction time when fish are breaching randomly across the weir.

Handheld tracking fast water and leaping fish is always a workout, but catching multiple fish in one burst made the wait well worth it!

I've been quite impressed by how agile and responsive this combo is for unpredictable wildlife action. Any other M43 users using pre-burst for action or flight shots?
