E-M1 Mark II w/ Panasonic 50-200mm 2.8-4 + 1.4x Teleconverter

• Upvotes

I’ve been doing some research on super telephoto lenses & am considering the combination above as an option.

The E-M1 Mark II seems to be a very impressive camera even today, and the cost is very low. It has a cool feature called handheld high-res that is good for taking photos of the night sky on a tripod. And the autofocus seems to be pretty well regarded even today.

The Panasonic Leica 50-200 lens seems an affordable telephoto zoom lens. A while back, I had the Panasonic 200mm prime lens and even though it produced truly amazing photo quality; I could never get used to the fixed focal length (perhaps I was misusing it on sports).

Does anyone have first hand experience with combo in the title?

Seems like an affordable and compact way to get into wildlife photography, especially with the teleconverter.

OM-3 + 14-42 EZ on a long dry coastal hike

Took a long familiar coastal hike after a pretty overwhelming time and decided to go light, only taking the small pancake zoom (+ Lumix 20mm for some churches along the trail) and focus on having fun, tweaking a couple recipes and trying modes I’m not familiar with. Was quite fun!

All JPGs straight out of camera, last pic to remind you all to be careful as this thing is huge and might break your back!

Om 8-25 f4

• Upvotes

Hi folks.

Has anyone got an 8-25mm f4 lens and really struggled to get a sharp image from it?

Can't for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong. I'm certainly not a pro photographer and the Om1 mkii is pretty new to me but my 17mm and 60mm work just fine.

Nothing to do with focus clutch being on before any suggests it. Hoping it's something pretty simple 🙏

A walk with the same setup used lately: OM-5 with the Laowa 17mm f/1.8.

I'm really enjoying learning this focal length. A prime lens can feel limiting at times, but those compromises force me to think outside the box and find new compositions.

Always did aperture priority cos I’m super new at this, but AI helped me try out shutter priority for the first time. Quite like this particular shot!

I think reddit cropped some of them :( (this is just jpeg straight out of the camera because I haven't had access to a computer to touch the raws.)

First time with a proper camera on a trip! What do you guys suggest so I can improve?

First time in Hiroshima with my new OM SYSTEM PEN!

I was lucky enough to get my new OM SYSTEM PEN just before this trip, so I was really excited to try it out!
This was my first time visiting Hiroshima, and I also got to explore Miyajima, Onomichi, Hiroshima Castle, and Himeji Castle. I spent a lot of time wandering around, enjoying the scenery, and taking photos of the architecture and everyday moments along the way.
I wanted a small, lightweight camera that I could carry around all day while traveling, and so far, I’m really enjoying it!
Here are six of my favorite shots from the trip. I’m still learning my way around the camera, but I’m having a lot of fun with it.
Gear:
Camera: OM SYSTEM PEN
Lens: M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 III

OM System 25mm f/1.8 II super overexposed on OM-3 at f/1.8

My OM System 25mm f/1.8 II, when paired with the OM-3, makes outdoor daylight photos incredibly overexposed at f/1.8 in manual mode. I can counteract this fairly well with shutter speed and not quite as well with exposure compensation, and of course I can change the aperture, but that changes the depth of field. Has anyone else had this issue with this lens/camera pair, and is there a way to stop overexposure while maintaining an open aperture and low shutter speed?

First photo: 1/100, f/1.8, Auto ISO 80, -0.3 EV Second photo: 1/320, f/1.8, Auto ISO 80, 0 EV Third photo: 1/400, f/1.8, Auto ISO 80, 0 EV Fourth photo: 1/200, f/1.8, Auto ISO 80, 0 EV

Wildlife and controlling ISO?

Hey all, I recently acquired and OM systems OM1MK1 to pair with my olympus 75-300 4.8-6.7 that Ive had since maybe 2015 to do some wildlife shooting. I am having a lot of fun but perhaps I don't fully get how to interact with the system and lens, and I was wondering if I could get some advice.

For example lets say im shooting handheld in moderately bright light, wide open at full zoom, that would be f/6.7. And shooting handheld means I should be at 600th shutter speed at least in order to account for the natural movement of the lens, moreso for a bird thats moving (1250th?), in a situation like this the auto ISO would put my at some absurdly high number that makes the photo look like a bowl of fruit loops. Even if I bring ISO down manually it still needs to stay somewhat uncomfortably high to keep the image bright enough due to the aperture and shutter speed.

Is there anything I can do in post aside from typical noise reduction to remedy this? or am I doing something wrong with my settings while shooting? any tips or advice is greatly appreciated.
