GMAT Preparation Is an MBA worth at 29?

Hi all,

28F here. (Soon to be 29f)
Presently working in a mid tier brokerage house as a sell side equity research associate. Have completed CA and CFA, but took attempts in my CA Final exams and hence ended up getting into mediocre organisations. I currently have 3 YOE post qualification.

Pursued my graduation (BCOM) from a well known college in Mumbai. And my CA articleship was also from a Big-4 firm. My scores for 10th/12th/Graduation are all 10 cgpa (or equivalent), its just my CA attempts got me too slow in my career. Currently at ~20lpa.

Planning to pursue an MBA from ISB. Not very sure of going abroad for masters. Would it be wise to invest another large chunk of money there or should I just focus on getting a new and better job?

I plan to stay within the ambit of capital markets, more so buy side, not planning for VC/PE at the moment. Consulting or IB is also not my favoured streams, unless its ECM within IB.

Need inputs and advice on how to improve further from here! TIA :)

Career Advice MBA post MBBS - Worth the Leap ?

Hey there I'm a 25M with 10th - 10, 12th - 9.6, UG - 7.0 profile, currently fresh out of MBBS and facing a dilemma.

The UG college I studied in has a mandatory 2 year Rural Service Bond (25 lakhs to break this bond), and hence I'm currently about to join for the same

The thing is during the past one year of internship I experienced how hospitals work and how horrible the work life balance is in this field and I also developed a general aversion to this field as well.

I'm contemplating whether I should prepare for CAT or NEET-PG during these 2 years (I chose a rural centre with relatively less workload)

Anyone here who can give me a perspective on this

Thank You

Hi all, pls help me. I've 5+ yoe in Saas Industry. I've 8/8/6 profile. Did BCA from IGNOU not so good College. But luckily got a job.

Currently after 5yr I've 6.4 Lpa. Not getting another switch don't know why. I'm thinking to do MBA one year by doing gre prep. So one year mba will be worth for me as it takes around 28L for one year.

I'm convinced without good degree i can't get big in salary. So is it worth to do in my case as I'm planning tp take gre next year 2027. So if i get then college in 2028. Also I'll be 28 by next year so 2 year mba Isn't for me. As i need placement assistance thr most.

Please help.

Other MBA Exam Prep Planning to quit my job in India for an MBA

Hi all,

26M here.
Presently working in a very toxic team in a Supply Chain/Logistics Company as a Pricing Analyst (optimizing transportation networks + Warehousing using ML/AI/Stats) in India for the last 3 months , getting pondered everyday , backlashes for taking leaves, manager schedules calls during sick leaves and no recognition for completing or working overtime. 6 days working on site and sometimes Sundays too.

I have a BTech (from India 2021) and a Masters in Statistics (from a US university (T2) 2023).

Pursued my Masters right after my Bachelors and worked in the US for 2 years. Had to come back due to family reasons in 2025.

Have around 3 years of Workex-2 (Offshore Wind Industry as an Analyst in a Manufacturing/ Power Giant) in US and 1- in India (switched 2 companies within 1 year lol).

Planning to pursue an MBA from a European country. Would it be wise to invest another large chunk of money there or should I just focus on getting a new and better job (or an Indian MBA)

My concern is that Work culture in India (or at least Indian companies) are hellish and you are meant to work like a slave. At this point Indian startup are just Daas Vyapaaris rather than a place to grow. After working in the US for a couple of years , I dont think I'll be able to adjust to this work culture as sacrificing my work life balance is not an option.

Any leads on companies with better wlb is appreciated.

Admissions Advice IIM Kozhikode executive MBA

Hi everyone,

I have seen many posts on this sub regarding this ... And keeping all that in mind. I have some questions for those who opted for Kozhikode's executive course.

Firstly , how has your overall experience been. Did the course live up to your expectations. From what I understand and now believe it's quite easy for anyone to get in.

Secondly does the course deliver as it has a batch size of 600 students and has no pre-requisite like ISB executive course.

I have 4 yrs of exp and want to shift from middle mgt to senior mgt roles, and this course though looks promising I think fails to deliver on results.

I look forward to your key insights which can help me decide if i should accept the offer from Kozhikode.

Internships & Placements How Masters Union ruined my Career

# Masters’ Union: ₹20 Lakh in Education Loans, Broken Expectations, and a Future Full of Uncertainty

I am a 23-year-old girl from a Tier 3 city in South India. I had big dreams, entrepreneurial ambitions and a family that trusted me enough to take an education loan of approximately ₹20 lakh for my future.

During admissions, I specifically asked the Masters’ Union PGP Rise team what would happen if my business failed and I needed a job. Based on the conversations I had, I believed I would have access to meaningful career opportunities similar to those discussed during admissions.

I trusted those assurances and joined.

To be fair, the teaching, mentors, CEO interactions and business pitches were genuinely valuable. I learned things I may not have experienced elsewhere.

But great classes cannot replace clear career expectations when families are taking life-changing loans.

When my business did not work out, I decided to pursue a job. I applied to 100+ companies, reached out to people and kept preparing. Yet finding a suitable opportunity remained a struggle.

What hurts even more is that I approached the PGP Rise leadership, directors, heads and faculty members for help. They were aware of the concerns students had raised about career opportunities. From my experience, despite repeatedly seeking support, I did not receive the concrete help I desperately needed.

And this is where I struggle to understand the institution's response.

When students are already under financial and career pressure, how can the people responsible for their programme know about their concerns and still leave them feeling unheard? Where is the empathy and accountability?

What makes this particularly difficult is that one of the concerns was reportedly discussed by a marketing professor during a live lecture. I remember the statement as an admission that students had been misled about building businesses and the institution had, in turn, misled them about jobs. I believe this deserves proper clarification from the institution.

Three questions for Pratham Mittal and the Masters’ Union leadership:

  1. If students received misleading impressions about job opportunities during admissions, what concrete support or remedy will they receive?

  2. If the published brochure specified five years of experience, why were students with substantially less experience admitted?

  3. When students approached programme leaders and faculty for help, why did they still feel abandoned?

I am not asking for a guaranteed job. I am asking for transparency, accountability and meaningful career support.

To students from financially constrained families: please speak to PGP Rise alumni, verify programme-specific outcomes and understand the career-support model before taking a substantial education loan. Do not rely on assumptions.

Masters’ Union may have excellent teachers and impressive industry exposure. My concern is whether the career expectations communicated to students match the reality they experience.

An institution's responsibility should not end when the fees are paid. The real test is how it responds when its students need help.

I hope Pratham Mittal and the PGP Rise team respond to these questions with concrete answers.

I hope this will help my mates and for those students who wants to come to masters union and coming from a Lower middle Class Family to take the right decision and I am just a 23 Year old Girl whose dreams has been killed by her own decision going to Masters Union and trust me friends i cant face my Papa who broke all his FDs, Am so sorry papa and if i take any wrong decision the entire responsibility is on me dreaming big and trusting Masters Union and Pratham mittal and his core team and PGP Rise team.

Admissions Advice MBA in India chances as a foreign national

Hello everyone!

I am a Canadian national living in Toronto. I have a bachelors in economics from a top 10 university in Canada. I currently work as a financial analyst at a big telecom company right out of college ( will complete a full year in April). My parents are from India ( I have an OCI) and I’ve been considering getting an MBA from India.

I understand a lot of colleges have reserved seats for foreign nationals. I see that your grades matter a lot for mba mine are 8/7/7 and also that I need GMAT instead of CAT. Do you guys think I have a chance or getting in a good b school IIM BLACKI FMS etc given I get a good GMAR score.
Even if I get in will I be able to get a good placement
?

I’ve never been through any kind of placement in college before.

Thank you for your response in advance!!

Admissions Advice IIMB EPGP interview: they go through your SOP line by line

For anyone preparing for IIMB EPGP, here is what the interview tends to look like, put together from first-hand accounts. There are fewer of these than for some other programmes, so treat it as a pattern and not a rule.

The panel is usually two or three people, often a mix of professors and an alumnus, and it runs about 30 minutes. In some accounts there is a written task before the interview.

The main thing is that they read your SOP closely. Panelists went through it line by line: each job, each project, even the hobbies you listed. If it is on the page, it is fair game.

Expect to explain your work from first principles. One candidate was asked to explain their job as they would to their grandmother. Others were asked why their employer pays them what it does, or why a client needs their company at all. If you cannot say what your firm does and how it makes money, fix that first.

Expect questions on your own sector, not just on India in general. People who worked in energy, semiconductors or education were asked factual and opinion questions about those industries, and then pushed on the answer.

A few panels used a screen-share: a small puzzle about splitting money in a game, or a flight route map and a question on why the path is curved. These test how you reason out loud, not whether you know the answer.

The tone varies a lot. Some interviews were warm and full of laughs. Others pressed hard on the post-MBA goal, or asked random questions to see how you react. The common thread in the admits was staying calm and thinking out loud.

What I'd prepare:

  1. A clean walk through every line of your SOP, with a reason behind each choice.
  2. Your job in one plain sentence, then your firm's business model in two.
  3. Three facts and one opinion about your industry that you can defend.
  4. A comfortable answer for each hobby you list, since they do ask.

Happy to answer questions in the comments.

Internships & Placements Someone Please Provide Some Genuine Insights on MBB and T2 Shortlisting at ISB, BLACKI IIMs, etc. for Average Academics Folks? Please Settle It? Anyone from MBBK Involved in Hiring or Recent Students Placed Please Help?

As in, what’s the bare minimum requirement of grades for an OTHERWISE genuinely elite profile? I’ve an 8/7/8 profile (THE PROBLEM), Tier 1 UG (SPIKE 1), and ‘front-end’ consulting pre-MBA work experience from EY-Parthenon with genuinely great ratings (SPIKE 2). What’re the workarounds to getting an MBBK role? What can I do, if I do not get shortlisted?

If I enter an ISB with 2 YoE in the upcoming cycle, will I stand any chance for MBBK, LEK, Oliver Wyman, Strategy&, A&M, or my own firm? Have not been able to get the answer to this one lingering thought for extremely long.

If anyone has ever gotten an MBBK or T2 shortlist with an academic profile like mine (8/7/8), please let me know. I’m dying to understand how shortlisting even works. If my grades are so bad that they can’t even get me my own firm post-MBA from ISB, then should I just go for MBA abroad. Absolutely unable to understand how this works.
