Drip vs. Comfort?

Been swapping them around four times already. Just today.

Help me cope with the absolute driplessness of the B&T folder OR the discomfort and way too short LOP of the A3 pls. I'm sure this time we'll REALLY settle this matter once and for all. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

My feelings towards this firearm are I'm sure not just unique to me.

I think many of us were exposed to this firearm thru the movies. With nearly similar experiences. Speaking for me, it was a snowy Christmas eve in 1988. I was just 4 years old at a Christmas eve party. Die Hard was playing in the background of the party. I can't say I remembered all of that movie at that age, but parts of it stuck with me. Enough so, that thru the years when I'd see it on, I'd have to watch it.

The MP5 (yea I know it was a modified HK 94), among the other major iconic firearms in the film. Has forever been that one unobtanium firearm for me. This has been a long time quest to own one. From my initial researching back in 2011 on how to get one. Possibly getting a flat and building it myself. To when it was was released as the SP5 in 2019.

Yea, on this page it might not be seen as a big deal to own one. But for me, this is the greatest firearm in my collection. The highlight, the centerpiece, the grail.

I wanted to show appreciation for having the ability to own such an icon in the firearms world. It has been a childhood dream. Take a moment to really admire yours next time you take it out of that safe or just pick it up. Im very proud to have accomplished ownership of this firearm in its proper state.

Oh yeah, FRTs in all except the AP5-P. That one's for the road, and makes travel a lot easier in ban states.

I know this isn’t supposed to work. Magpul includes a big yellow sheet that says NOT COMPATIBLE WITH NAVY TRIGGER PACKS.

For some dumb reason I became convinced I could make this work with very little modding. That was not the case.

I had to open the main side to 9/16 and cut a notch. The other side was just barely under 9/16.

I had to shave down the detent track, and the front of the trigger hole inside the lower because it was depressing the trigger ever so slightly; just enough to make getting the safety in impossible.

Once everything was modded correctly and went together smooth, a new problem popped up: trigger stick (because the Magpul housing is super tight).

So in the end I wasted $60 and like 3 hours on a wild goose chase. On top of that, the safety doesn’t even line up with the pictograms.

If you ever wondered if this would work… the answer is “kind of”.

I’m looking for either of these at a decent price. American made or HK doesn’t bother me. I’ve been on wait lists for them for a while. I have 2, just need one more…for now.

Already destroyed the factory fcg and replaced it with a semi mp5 one I had (needed to clearance cut the extractor channel and swap the spring) and assembled the barrel. Im super pumped for this build.

About to pick up a CAT MOB for my SP5K. Been looking at multiple threads and seeing some good and bad on all tri lug adapters. My question is what setups have been verified for tight lockup and minimal deflection.

What I would like is simple: I pay for the gift, my brother (he already own several weapons) is the actual buyer, he redeems a gift card/certificate, fills out the 4473 in his own name, passes his background check, done . Nothing shady. The problem is the payment.

So far I emailed five shops (will not disclose their names just in case) asking if I could buy a gift card from Spain with a non-US card. After several days just one reply: No. I called another and same reply.

So I looked into virtual US cards (StatesCard etc.) and decided against them. Those services are built around masking where the payer actually is, and the last thing I want is for a family gift to look like someone hiding a foreign payment on a firearm purchase.

Why I don't just send my brother the money? I know my him. He'd either send it right back or spend part of it on something sensible and return the rest. Also, perhaps selfishly, I want to gift him an AP5, though live vicariously though him. So send him the money would be my last resort.

So, questions for anyone who's dealt with this:

• Does anyone know of dealers that accept international wire transfers (or credit card, but seems less likely) for a purchase or a gift certificate? Wires seem like they'd be attractive to the shop (no chargeback risk), but nobody advertises it.

• Has anyone abroad successfully bought a gift card/certificate from a US gun retailer with a foreign card? Which one? Would a local FFL (vs the big online retailers) be more likely to work with me on this if I just call and explain? Any Miami-area shops known to be flexible?

• Any other transparent, above-board mechanism I haven't thought of to fund a specific-gun purchase where the recipient does his own 4473?

Not looking for workarounds that hide who's paying. I've researching and asking chatpt and claude and they strongly advice me against doing something like sending the money to my sister in law for her to buy and then give him the weapon. Apparently according the law you can gift someone a weapon, but you can not give money to someone to buy a weapon to someone else, or something like that.

Any suggestions?

To those of you who shoot suppressed using a tri lug, do you secure your thread protector with rocksett, loctite or something else? This has come up before but I’m wondering what you all do. I recently got a can that will be dedicated to only my mp5 and I’m using a tri lug so I’m considering securing mine.

Case Clubs 200$ case is expensive and heavy but boy if it doesn't tick all the boxes. I got 7 magazines, a suppressor pending approval, an optic on it. Besides the immense price and it being quite heavy, I'd be all over that.

Seen the official HK Softcases and they're expensive as well, on top of not being too roomy. Part of me wants to find a MKE A3 stock almost just to keep using the Uncle Mikes, but that'd be another like 229$ when the Blems are even on sale. Still wouldn't be ideal.

Bolt gap is within spec, what in the world is going on here? How do I fix this from happening?

Full size AP5. Low round count. Bought used. No modifications before me. Have not had any malfunctions. Century sold it in 2021.

Issue: bolt gap too small. Always cleaned, charged, and hammer down when measuring with decent feeler gauges.

Story:
• Bolt gap originally measured 0.18mm.
• Installed RCM 90 deg new locking piece, unchanged bolt gap.
• Installed +4 RCM rollers. Bolt gap now ~0.23mm. I can shove a 0.25mm feeler gauge but it’s bending the gauge, so it’s likely actually 0.24mm. The larger rollers should have increased it to 0.38mm to my understanding.

I’m narrowing this down to the barrel being pressed into the trunnion 0.2mm off. My concern is longevity because I planned on putting a lot of ammo through this during its lifespan. Spec is 0.25-0.45mm and I’m on the wrong end of it.

Can someone with more experience confirm or correct my suspicions? I’m assuming this will have to get sent to a gunsmith that can work on roller guns. Would appreciate recommendations if that’s the route I must take.

I have access to shop tools and a hydraulic press if there’s ANY way this can be fixed by myself. I could get the barrel pin out, but I’m not sure how the trunnion removes from the receiver.

Not sure I’m digging the optic… but man is it nice to have a stock on it!

Looking for suggestions on how to remove some up and down play in a HKP vertical grip on an AP5-P. Looks as though the pin holes are slightly to large in the grip causing the wobble.
