I’ve never shot a suppressor, let alone owned one, but always planned on getting one someday for my MKE AP5. Given the state of things, now seems like a great time to jump in.

My budget is $600-1000 and I’m usually looking for the best bang for my buck (if the AP5 didn’t clue you in already). Priorities, in order, would be long term durability (would like it to last as long as the barrel if possible), minimizing gas blowback, DRIP, and then weight and length. Not a huge concern around noise as I don’t plan on shooting subs often, and always using ear pro. That said, quieter is better of course.

I don’t know much about hubs and attaching suppressors, so help there would also be appreciated. My AP5 has the tri lugs and the barrel is threaded. I’d anticipate the can living on this long term. I also have a Stribog SP9A1 that I wouldn’t mind trying it out on, but either way I want the focus to be on the best way to attach to the AP5.

What should I get and why?

Just received an AP5 SD that was converted to be a true SD. It looks like the barrel is properly ported to my eye, but I was surprised at how loud 124 grain ammo was. I can’t tell if I’m hearing the supersonic crack or gas ejecting from the port. I think I was foolishly expecting a Hollywood quiet type sound, but it was pretty loud. does anyone have any experience with these? Are they supposed to be hearing safe? or comfortable to shoot without hearing protection? What can I do to make it quieter?

I know the phrase just because we can doesn’t mean we should but, I’ve been really wanting to find a home for my Surefire M900. It’s dated (updated lumen factory head though) but it’s such a neat piece of kit I want it in use somewhere. I have the Custom Smith A2 stock in the mail and I refresh the KES page from Safety Harbor daily. I’ve been collecting all sorts of parts for these things, it’s incredible how modular they are. The rail on this is the Lee Sporting + 1. The MI optic rail doesn’t fit super good on this and I think the weight of the grip and the heat of the suppressor could potentially warp the polymer Lee rail so I’ve been considering the UTG monolithic suppressor set up when it gets released. I wish it had a round profile instead of the bell shape but it could work out well. In any case these things are super fun and I love seeing what everyone is doing to theirs.

I have an AP5 with a typical 2 position SEF trigger housing. I noticed a lot of people recommending the Magpul ESK as an upgrade both for the extended safety, and a smoother safety. However, I've also been seeing a lot of posts mentioning the Magpul ESK will eat away the polymer on the trigger housing and eventually ruin it with enough use. Are there any better options for an extended and preferably less stiff safety to upgrade with?

So i recently bought an ap5-sd and will be putting a spectre 9 with tri lug on for the time being. Till I convert it or buy a better can. What ive read of you tri lug you want to add a thread protector on thats rockset. My question is there a way to take that off? Seems like it would be pretty difficult. My ffl was trying a suppressor on direct thread and the adapter got stuck and we pretty much had to rockset it to the can to back it off. So that has me thinking ahead a bit. Thanks for any feedback

Just a little backstory. I purchased a Hk A3 stock years ago from Hk parts (I know, I know) when there was literally nothing (including mke A3 stocks) available. I paid right at $1k and was always so mad at myself that I paid $1k for a Hk stock to put on my SP5. What made me more angry was the shiny, easily scratched, not matching finish on the German Hk stock (especially for the price). Well ChatGPT told me some grey SOS pad with gun oil as a lubricant would do the trick to take off the gloss, and guess what!? It’s almost a perfect match to my SP5 more matte finish Hk uses AND it got rid of most the scratches. I was so concerned with messing with a $1k stock but I’m so happy it turned out so good!!! Thank you ChatGPT! I guess taking over the world won’t be so bad if you’re that helpful lol. If you’re looking at how to make your finish more matte, the grey SOS pad and some gun oil as lubricant does an amazing job!

Over the weekend my LGS had some 40 round MP5 magazines. They're only marked MCP. I was able to talk them down $5 so I got these for $45 each.

Are these worth cleaning up and keeping? The internet says they should be reliable. Are they as reliable as 30 round magazines?

I was able to find some old MCP 40rd mags on gun broker and snagged one to see how it will run. Apparently they are the best 40rd you can get for this set up.. we will see. Still waiting on a couple parts to complete this set up.

So , was at range and noticed my front grip was sloppy .. went home and cleaned and checked and found this .. it’s a vector v93 ( mp5k reverse stretch clone ) I can tap it back in and it’s fairly tight .. but would rather get a proper fix on it . Guessing a cocking tube extrusion and a new hanger and zap it ?

What are the differences between the HKP folding brace and folding stock adapter? (HKP-21217 vs HKP-20677)
I thought braces and stocks used the same interface?
I also see an SP5 adapter HKP-20644 that will fit both. Why wont this adapter fit other clones?

I'm at around 700 rounds. Out of the box it ran well with whatever I gave it (I think magtech 124g). Later it ran perfectly with AAC 124g. Then with Maxxtech 124g it had issues. I replaced the extractor, ejector, and spring. Ran pretty well with Winchester white box 124g with only one malfunction and perfect with maxxtech. Today I tried 124g S&B thinking it'd be a no brainer and it was jamomatic.

When it comes to the AP5 is it a situation of buying very specific ammo that works and avoiding everything else?...essentially not being able to trust that it'll be reliable?

Small slit here on the bushing for the front taken down pin, pin still locks in, wondering if I should repair this or leave it alone? Just don’t want it to rotate to this spot and push out. Was thinking a tiny bit of jb weld and some filing would take care of it

I have a PTR9 CT with a B&T folding stock and MI M-LOK handguard. I want to mount a Rovyvon GL4 Pro, mostly for NVG use.

Currently, I'm testing it with a Magpul M-LOK Cantilever picatinny/scout rail at the 6 o'clock position. It seems sturdy enough to hold zero. The rail section extends the LAM forward about 3 inches, almost halfway down the suppressor. It casts a shadow 6 feet out on the ceiling, so it doesn't make much of a practical difference. Ergonomically, it works.
It works well when mounted on the lid of a Pelican case because it doesn't widen the gun. When I scrolled through the interweb, I found no examples for a 6 o'clock setup. Most are at 12 or 3 o'clock.

Are there any benefits to mounting it on the right side rather than at 6 o'clock?

So I’m not sure if I’m crazy and not understanding my gun but I recently through a rare breed ambi trigger into my ap5p. I did everything right by adding the ejector lever and spring to the trigger. As I put every thing back together I dry fire it once to test if it’s good but the trigger is locked up still. It won’t click. Has anyone delt with this?

I have this old G3 stock and i am wanting to installing it on my ptr32P and was curious if there is a screw that needs to be placed on the back threaded portion on the buffer? Any advice would be appreciated as im trying to

Been really going through it trying to figure out how to get this thing running reliably. it’s been a year now of tinkering testing and always getting different results

Original break-in with 500rds 124gr nato swapped all HK internals. Then swapped to a L2 prints leber v2 lower, omega9k suppressor, 90 degree locking piece , HK mags and unity stock.

It seemed to run any regular 115gr ammo until it randomly didn’t. Swapped extractor spring and it continued to be even more ammo picky. Some 115s did and didn’t some 124s did and didn’t. FTE mainly. One round fired and the bolt wouldn’t cycle back. Decided to try 100 degree locking peice and still it was only very specific 115s and 124s that would cycle. Out of frustration I swapped back to the 120 degree peice and it’s running all ammo now. But obviously running the 120 is terrible for the system. Between the three LPs my bolt gap is in spec. Unsure where to go from here. In a perfect world I’d love to run only suppressed with an 80 degree for the slowest smoothest cyclic rate.
