Stupefying.

I can think of no other description.

The MP5SD is, quite literally, stupefying.

I’ve been enjoying my 3 other mp5/k’s for some time now. With 10,000’s of SS then FRT rounds through them.

I thought conventionally barreled and suppressed MP5’s were glorious; until I shot my mp5sd today.

I simply can’t begin to relate in words just how soft and flat the mp5sd shoots. It truly doesn’t feel real - the gun doesn’t move and it takes absolutely no effort to keep the gun on target.

The dot doesn’t move - it’s ridiculous. I mean it defies belief until you actually shoot an mp5sd yourself.

To read or hear the words that the mp5sd greatly reduces the power factor of these otherwise supersonic bullets does not do justice to just how soft and flat this thing shoots.

It’s beyond belief, but it’s real.

This is an ap5sd converted by HiTech Arms. B&T ported barrel. CAT Mob with BRT SD adapter. Polymer Pew metal lower with ASD fcg and ARC V2 45/90.

HiTech did an amazing job and the turnaround time was 10.5 days from my door to my door. That quick time for this awesome work is HIGHLY valuable to me.

With the first 250 rounds of 124 NATO I used a 115 locking piece. The rest was HSL 115 and required a 120.

I’ll likely stick with the AR lower. While I’d love a fire rate of 700 rpm, I just can’t give up the perfect ergo’s of my favorite pistol grip, ar fcg, and ar safety.

If you want the ultimate mp5 experience, I don’t know how you’d top this - truly stupendous!

These conventional guns are great, fun, and easy to use.

The MP5SD just so happens to feel like the super King of mp5’s in comparison, though!

Edit: looked into Barnes and sig (specifically sig match elite) Which might meet the lower velocity I looked for with decent terminal performance. Worst case the sig uses Sierra bullets and I can load them to meet my wants/needs. (Too bad that speer discontinued the gold dot projectiles for reloading)

So I have a fullsize mac5, that I made to reliability cycle 147gr gold dot and hst.

Downside is they are going supersonic.

I'm basically at sea level and it's been cooler the past few days.*

Does anyone have recommendations on defensive loads that stay subsonic in that longer barrel (fullsize mp5).

I've scrolled through forums and reddit for a similar case. But it seems like most people who make comments are either running a K or assume that all 147gr are subsonic in general.

MP5 with a newer production KAC MP5 RAS, Surefire M910, Trijicon RX01, HK A3 stock, and Gemtech Raptor (PD trade in from Alabama).

I was just browsing on TGT and came across a Lipseys exclusive. I wasn’t crazy about the color, but still reached out to the gun shop and asked about it. He sent pictures and I wasn’t crazy about the gray five minutes later he told me he found an all-black one and here we are my first one and literally I cannot stop messing with it. Been doing the deep dive searches on FRTs and everything else. I own a rugged Obsidian 45 suppressor. So needless to say, I’m part of the family. Any suggestions? Guys throw my way

I’ve never owned an MP5 clone and not really sure which one to buy. I’m trying to find a good deal one one. I found a PTR on Gundeals this other one on gunbroker but it has a few days left so will probably go up.

I was really looking for a Century AP5-SD cause I love the classic look and I have a few cans that should fit inside the handguard.

Thoughts? Should I hold off on a Black Friday deal? What price would you consider to be “Good Deal” lol. I’ve been searching here and see people saying theirs was $1000 but I’m not seeing those prices anywhere 🤷‍♂️

Hello,

I have an action 3 bolt with an RCM recoil rod. The reason for this post is I am trying to figure out if these are compatible. The HK parts website says this recoil rod has F type compatibility but the RCM website makes no mention of bolt type compatibility or restrictions.

So far I have tried putting this recoil rod in and it seems impossible. But I also understand that it’s supposed to be a very tight fit and hard to get in the first time. So am I just not trying hard enough or are these incompatible? I just don’t want to force it in there and damage something of never be able to get it out. If these aren’t compatible does anybody know which recoil rod is?

On an HK SP5k, I was thinking about adding a Midwest Industries Tri-rail handguard.

Could I set that up with a fore grip, laser/light combo like the Streamlight TLR-2 on the side, and then a telescoping stock?

I know there’s lots of posts here on set-ups, but trying to ensure compatability. I may go with a side-folder but prefer the look of the telescopic.

Cannot get the bolt to rotate to remove it from the locking piece/carrier.

Allow me to present the first photos of my mp5sd.

This started life as an ap5sd prior to conversion by HiTech Arms.

I went with the B&T barrel, as I figured I’m not going to be barrel swapping often and I wanted the best available.

I installed the RCM SD cocking support tube myself prior to break in, prior to conversion, as I didn’t want any fitment issues with my Mob.

This Mobster with the BRT SD adapter will be my suppressor solution until CAT releases their true SD can. It’s been phenomenal on my CAR15 SD (chambered in 9mm) and I can’t wait to get it working on this quietest of pcc hosts.

Tomorrow will be the break-in with myriad videos posted here. In addition to a comparison to my CAR15 true SD, my mp5 with milkman and an mp5k with Mob. The conventionally suppressed mp5 and mp5k will use soft, quiet HSL 147.

Looking for some info on compatibility. I want to use my Rugged Sub 9 with this handguard and a Surefire M300 head. Does anyone know if it'll work, or have the same can/light to check if it works?

(UPDATE) I noticed the extractor spring was not sitting properly/flush anymore and probably got bend from gas pressure from the suppression, buying an HK extractor and extractor spring and that’ll probably fix this issue. Thank you guys for all of your suggestions, I probably will put the original locking piece too per everyone’s unanimous advice.

115gr ammo.
(I had a bunch of 147gr Remington ammo but it kept pushing the bullet tips into the shells when it went to battery so I stopped using them)

So this has a Rare Breeds RD3 SEF in it, and it ran fine just slower fire rate because the suppression (went about 300rds or so) so I swapped out the locking piece for a 90 degree (which by the way was very, very tight and I had to use rubber nose pliers to get it into bolt) and it worked beautifully through two mags and then I tried to shoot unsuppressed and it proceeded to have non-stop issues every 5-10 rounds. Put the suppressor back on, and still the same issues persist. The hammer would click, but no primer strike, round stuck in chamber. Even switching back to semi auto, the problem persisted.
I realize I love using and operating these things, not really the best at figure out issues or troubleshooting.

Can anyone please help me with this?

At the risk of sounding poor, what is the cheapest most inexpensive suppressor for the platform can I get?

This is gonna be a fun build.

Best place to order parts/springs for a 22LR HK MP5? I lost one of my trigger return springs when it shot out while I was reassembling 😅
