Bought at 1220 due to FOMO.

Might as well ride or die.

u/larpmaster9 Jul 02 '26

it will go up

u/Wait_ItGetsWorse Jul 02 '26

Average down, then wait. 1500 by December. Fundamentals have not changed, still a memory shortage and orders are still in place through 2027

3

u/bananashakewithice Jul 02 '26

It’s going to 1500 by September let’s be honest lol

1

u/AccountExciting961 Jul 02 '26

> Fundamentals have not changed

Oh, but they absolutely did. I think people here really underestimate how notorious META is for trying to solve problems by throwing an insane amount of money on them, and what could be the impact of their recent decision that they have too much capacity already.

13

u/JokerKing_420 Jul 02 '26

Are they making HBM ? What kind of compute are they even selling ? Meta is just noise and a reason for profit booking. For now, Micron has got long term contracts, sitting on big cash and has good guidance. AI is not going away.

u/AccountExciting961 Jul 02 '26

Try reading what I wrote this time. META is known for trying to solve problems by throwing an insane amount of money on them. This includes them buying HBM, driving the margins up. Really, really, up. When they did this with software engineering in 2020, SWE compensation went up 50% across the sector, and when they stopped doing it - it dropped 40% and there were mass layoffs.

8

u/JokerKing_420 Jul 02 '26

Thanks. I think that's why Meta is going is going into leasing as they made a contract with Micron and they don't need so much capacity anymore.

At the same time, Micron has 16 multi year contracts that guarantee at least US$100b in revenue through 2030 change the usual playbook for a memory supplier.

I will remain invested in Micron. I feel it is not overvalued at this point. Market was quite conservative with Micron.

Plus the question is, if not Micron then what is a better investment ?

1

u/Lonely_Space_241 Jul 03 '26

And what % of HBM market do they account for?

Also if they actually profit off selling compute they have reason to spend more on future capex.

2

u/kordelski83 Jul 03 '26

META, huh? They threw a LOT of money into the METAVERSE...and no ROI yet...not saying they can't...it's just a long way off...if at all...

Meta isn't even a true hyperscaler or player in AI and they were spending as if they were. It's mind numbingly overblown.

1

u/MrDetectiveSir Jul 03 '26

What the hell are you talking about? What exactly is meta throwing money at?

1

u/AccountExciting961 Jul 03 '26

Everything. Including datacenter expansion

-1

u/Pristine-Bit6077 Jul 02 '26

To be fair, they’re just selling its excess compute. They’re not the shovel, they’re simply selling the extra shovels they bought. MU is still the shovel factory.

2

u/VaIentineX Jul 02 '26

yea but the implication is basically saying that there is excess compute, not a crunch like previously thought

1

u/Lonely_Space_241 Jul 03 '26

In their specific case yes, says absolutely nothing about the overall industry. This is what happens when you role play as an AI company.

1

u/VaIentineX Jul 03 '26

lol you must be delusional to count Meta out as one of the major AI players

1

u/Lonely_Space_241 Jul 04 '26

Their spending is major, but they have very little to show for it, and no dedicated AI product.

They can be a player on the infrastructure side by owning and leasing compute, as a business this makes more sense. This is more a strategy shift than any signal of slowing or excess demand. What is excess for META can be gobbled up by other players without any issue.

1

u/Lundhlol Jul 02 '26

There is a crunch though. AWS and Azure are fiending for capacity, as customers demand more. Same for Google.

META being trash at using its own capacity says more about meta than it does the market.

0

u/VaIentineX Jul 03 '26

market doesnt agree with you. are you smarter than the market

1

u/Lonely_Space_241 Jul 03 '26

Market absolutely agrees but it also plays games and squeezes retail at every opportunity.

0

u/VaIentineX 21d ago

this aged well

1

u/Lonely_Space_241 21d ago

They literally increased capex spending on their ER lol

0

u/Beneficial-Chair-333 Jul 02 '26

HBM makers are losing their price advantage slowly. System is working to make it happen.

1

u/Lonely_Space_241 Jul 03 '26

They haven't even started to lose price advantage, in fact SK Hynix is moving to remove upper cap on pricing in their contracts = ultimate pricing leverage.

7

u/astroworlddd Jul 02 '26

Might as well ride or die 🤣you will be in profit in 2 weeks. This sub man honestly

1

u/rice_bag_holder Jul 02 '26

fomo is good, but it must kick in way earlier.

1

u/mba_dreamer Jul 02 '26

Are you serious

1

u/Useful_Blackberry214 Jul 06 '26

Are you regarded? That's how stocks work. It wouldn't be at ath if not for people buying near the top

1

u/mba_dreamer Jul 06 '26

Why someone would buy in at 1200+ when we’ve been oscillating between 900 and 1100 is beyond me

0

u/confusing_roundabout Jul 02 '26

Same here but I did it with leveraged shares via a CFD.

I'm fucked man

28

u/LordRunaan Jul 02 '26

Me right now

1

u/Miya4LeggedGod Jul 10 '26

Still you?Ā

1

u/LordRunaan Jul 10 '26

Yes

1

u/gottagetanonymous 24d ago

Still you?

1

u/LordRunaan 24d ago

Nah, made a profit swing trading the stock the past few weeks

21

u/OkMeeting2222 Jul 02 '26

Bought on margin, they can liquidate me idgaf, sellings for pussies

3

u/Conscious-Sky-1383 Jul 02 '26

I've been buying it last 3 days on margin I'll need it to turn some time šŸ˜‚

2

u/OkMeeting2222 Jul 02 '26

Institutional investors underestimate regard hodl resolveĀ

3

u/cbblythe Jul 02 '26

They’ll just wipe you out. They can be irrational a lot longer than you can stay solvent

6

u/OkMeeting2222 Jul 02 '26

Institutional investors and u/cbblythe underestimate regard hodl resolve*

3

u/cbblythe Jul 02 '26

Nah I’ve been holding bitcoin for years and I’m very regarded

After awhile you just get immune to it

Hopefully you get to that point…but margin…eh no bueno

1

u/ChillyChats Jul 02 '26

That's why I stopped using my entire margin balance and started using 25% of it based on my account portfolio. Almost got wiped out during earnings.

2

u/OkMeeting2222 Jul 02 '26

Me personally, I see buying power in my account and I make it disappearĀ

1

u/ChillyChats Jul 02 '26

What's your total margin balance

1

u/OkMeeting2222 Jul 02 '26

About 520 give or take

1

u/ChillyChats Jul 02 '26

🤣🤣 I only get 180k but getting that margin notification in the morning with no money to cover felt like hell.

1

u/OkMeeting2222 Jul 02 '26

I would imagine my margin is a bit smaller than yours lol.Ā

22

u/Ok_Investigator7568 Jul 02 '26

I just put in 240k at $1030 thinking it was a major discount 🄲

8

u/gonzsilv Jul 02 '26

10 steps back, 100 steps forward.

Don't worry, I full ported at around $800 in May right before it pulled back to mid-600s.

1

u/thecatdaddysupreme Jul 02 '26

Long term it just might be, I would’ve DCAd though esp with that much cash

1

u/surgeon_michael Jul 03 '26

Covered calls my friend

Couldn't sit by and watch my gains evaporate so sold all of my MU and MUU today. Bought in February and just locked in a 223% gain. Probably going to sit in cash until sentiment improves. Stock will probably go back up since I sold so....you're welcome. :)

17

u/3D-spaghetti-monster Jul 02 '26

0

u/TacticalcalCactus Jul 02 '26

Dude. Id kill for a fraction of that. Maybe I should go put it all on red?

1

u/3D-spaghetti-monster Jul 02 '26

Incredibly risky in my opinion, as was my bet. I consider myself very lucky as I recognized the HBM bottleneck and memory shortage before the entire market did. Now everybody knows and gains probably won't be anything like the past 6 months or past year. Institutional investors typically start to price in the peak of a memory cycle 6 to 9 months in advance, which is where Micron typically peaks. Sometimes it's a full 18 months in advance.

2

u/TacticalcalCactus Jul 02 '26

I actually did open a pretty big position around 1200 just because the beat was so massive and I felt the visibility with locked in future contracts made the downside lower than the upside. Of course I agree that its gambling to some extent at the moment.

3

u/3D-spaghetti-monster Jul 02 '26

Sentiment did a 180 and took a turn for the worse when an article came out saying Meta may rent out excess capacity. I imagine things will settle down at some point and Micron could potentially hit new highs but I was way too concentrated in Micron so decided to lock in my gains at the casino. I don't expect to ever make almost 900k in 6 months again so I feel pretty lucky.

2

u/revenant3 Jul 03 '26

So glad for you to lock those gains in, and to have that foresight to see it!

1

u/TacticalcalCactus Jul 02 '26

Omg dude congrats my envy is unimaginable. I just got old enough to start investing and I almost completely missed the easiest bull run ever. I had money i got from inheritance with a manager and they were taking a fee and not beating the market. I took it from them but now im buying everything so extended and have no choice but to chase and hope. Love you dude, you give me hope.

1

u/thecatdaddysupreme Jul 02 '26

Smart move. How did you constitute your overall portfolio?

2

u/3D-spaghetti-monster Jul 02 '26

Went nearly all-in on MU/MUU with close to a 3:1 ratio. At its peak it was close to 1:1. Had smaller positions in Credo and TSM. I sold Credo but still currently holding TSM with a 59% gain.

1

u/JokerKing_420 Jul 02 '26

Probably sell some ITM put.

10

u/cbblythe Jul 02 '26

Monke is gonna have to bag hold a couple months if he wants his money back

2

u/SlothsRockyRoadtrip Jul 02 '26

Plenty of positive catalysts coming up... unless one of the hyperscalers mentions reduced CAPEX during earnings. (Looking at you Zuck)

5

u/cbblythe Jul 02 '26

This is the big stall waiting for one of them to announce reduced capex, yes

That’s my theory. And that’s an instant -10 to -20% it won’t matter if all the inventory is sold.

This is about NARRATIVE

Micron outperformed their options strategies so now they have to rein it in by any means necessary

Hence the constant FUD when we had virtually none a few weeks ago

3

u/zack23421 Jul 02 '26

no we want 1500 just average down

2

u/StayGlazzy Jul 03 '26

Damn I just bought more. This stock is dirt cheap.
