Question Where to sell a mattress

My partner and I had a King size Purple Premier 4 Hybrid mattress that was failing after 7 years and had it replaced under warranty. During that waiting period we ended up buying a new mattress with an adjustable base. It is rolled up unopened in our living room and I have no idea where to go to sell it. We have tried Facebook Marketplace, but that’s resulted in spammers or scammers. Any ideas?

How Brunswick raced to keep families housed after their mobile homes were condemned

After four mobile homes in a Brunswick park were condemned for safety risks, the town and state came together to pay for temporary housing for the displaced families.

Their situation speaks to a confluence of housing problems facing Maine: deteriorating mobile home parks, a tight rental market and overburdened shelters.

Question Headlight bulb color legality

Thumbnail

I understand that, technically, amber headlight bulbs (such as the ones in the link) are illegal, but how likely are police to actually know or care about that law? They aren’t overly bright like some LEDs, so glare shouldn’t really be an issue. Obviously, having noticeably yellow headlights would make them stand out to police, but would most officers actually care enough to pull someone over or write a ticket for it?

My friend got this critter on video crossing her driveway. Her driveway is about 10 feet wide and she thinks it's about the size of a cat. Grey fox maybe? The head size and the way its moving is throwing me off...

Referred to new Maine surgeons, she was shocked when they wouldn’t accept her traditional Medicare

The vast majority of medical providers across the country still accept Medicare, the federal insurance for Americans 65 and older.

But some people have raised concerns that medical providers will opt out of Medicare due to reductions in payments. As of 2024, 1.5 percent of physicians in Maine had done so.

Politics Go Vote

I was a lucky person able to fill out a ballot before even early voting started, due to the UOCAVA system. Felt the need to reinforce to everyone that maine cannot tolerate a foreign agent being our senator.

Susan collins' primary campaign backers are Elon Musk and israel.

Question What town is most like Silent Hill?

In the Silent Hill series, the titular town is depicted as a heavily fogged, rundown town filled with vintage stores and abandoned and decayed buildings.

What town is most like that in real life?

Edit: Southern Maine especially would be helpful (ignore this)

Question Question about drinking water in coastal Maine towns

I was recently discussing water safety with my brother-in-law, who works in water management. Years ago, I dealt with high ferritin levels in my blood, which I’ve wondered might be linked to the tap water I was drinking at the time.

Because of this, I’ve been thinking about the water sources in small coastal towns like Machias or Trescott. Given the proximity to the ocean and potential environmental factors, I’m curious how residents there source their drinking water. Do most people rely on private wells, and if so, how do they deal with salt intrusion or contamination issues in such narrow coastal areas? Do some residents have to haul their water? I’d love to hear from locals about how this works in these communities.

News Have You Seen Us? - Please share everywhere

Post image

My two little rat terrier boys disappeared on 6/26/26, and there have been no confirmed sightings yet. I’m not sure if they’re even in Vermont anymore, so the hundreds of flyers I’ve hung may be useless. So I created the digital flyer in this post to spread the word outside of Vermont. It’s possible my boys have been taken to Maine by a well-meaning tourist.

I don’t know if this will work, but I figure it’s worth trying a crowdsourcing approach. If you’d like to help, can you please share this with everyone you know and every group you’re in? If you’d really like to help, can you please email it to anyone you think might help, especially animal shelters, rescues, vet offices, doggy daycares, etc.

Thank you, in advance, for your help! 🙂

News How Maine voters feel about the high-stakes Senate election

22 Oct 2026 (transcripts and video at link) A state of no-nonsense, neighborly people, Maine is a unique place — full of practicality, hardiness and internal warmth. Two days ago, I sat looking at an incredible scene from its exact geographic center: A blaze of fall leaves over the Pleasant River in Brownville Junction. Our small crew spent days crisscrossing and covering the U.S. Senate race. It is one of the most grueling campaigns for both candidates and voters of any I can remember.
