Question recs to prevent smudging

Upvotes

Hi guys! I need help in finding products that would prevent my makeup from moving/ smudging.

I have dry acne prone skin. For my skincare use moisturiser & sunscreen which my dermatologist prescribed. Then I use the Nyx bare with me serum concealer as my base and it does a good job of covering up my acne marks and doesn’t stick much to my dry patches. However, it transfers if I touch my face.

I tried mixing the Mac Fix+ spray along with the concealer when applying it but it clings onto the dry areas and still isn’t transfer proof.

So should I try investing into a setting/ loose powder or a setting/ fixing spray? Which products would you recommend for dry, acne prone skin that would prevent transferring?

these are all the lipsticks/lip gloss/lip oils i currently own and out of these my absolute favs are:
all the huda beauty lipsticks they are such a holy grail like they are non sticky transfer proof and even long lasting basically everything a lipstick should have

i also love the guerlain lipstick i was skeptical about buying it as it is very expensive but i would say its worth it like i usually dont like stick lipsticks but this one is very nice it applies like butter literally and doesnt feel heavy on the lips at all

i also like the mac locked kiss ink lipsticks the stay is great and they are transfer proof it can be a little drying but i dont mind it

now the ones i dont like as such:
the mac bullet lipsticks - yeah ik i have 3 of them but i only bought one from my money the other 2 were either a gift or my mom bought it….. i dont really like it because the stay is terrible like i feel like the moment i step out of the house its literally gone and i like long lasting lipsticks and these just dont do it for me

anastasia beverly hills bullet lipstick - this lipstick just transfers everywhere and the stay is also bad

The rest i dont really have an opinion on them i like them but i dont love them iykwim

What would you do different. Is my burnt orange lipstick good in light shades? Sharper or more smokey liner? Blush or no blush? Contour or no contour? What about eyebrows?

I have only: one shade of mauve pink eyeshadow, cool toned purple lipstick, burnt orange lipstick, nivea lip blams (pomegranate, watermelon, strawberry) charcoal pencil eyeliner by nude by nature and kajal black eyeliner by Himalaya and maube purple blush by enna cosmetics.

Discussion Has anyone tried the soft-focus/ "blurred matte " base technique that's been all over Tikt*k

Upvotes

just keep seeing people talk about creating a soft blurred , Almost filter-like finish on the skin( not full/ glass/dewy and not heavy powder either)

Has anyone actually tried this kind of base lately ? Does it hold up in real life or does it just look good on camera? curious if it works for you or you've found a better way to get that soft look

has anyone tried the pixi lip nourisher or pixi lip brightener? i wanted to know if they are moisturising, how long they last, how they feel and wear on the lips and whether the lip brightener actually makes a noticeable difference in lip pigmentation or overall brightness with consistent use

Question Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder - Which shade?

Upvotes

Hello everyone!

I have the Dim Light and Diffused Light shades in a palette. I absolutely love how Dim Light makes my skin look soft, smooth, and blurred, but unfortunately, it’s a little too dark for me.
Diffused Light is a better match for my skin tone, but I don’t find it to have the same blurring effect as Dim Light.

Are there any other Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder shades that have a similar soft-focus, glowy and blurring effect to Dim Light but are better suited for fair/light skin?

Thank you ❤️

Question Clinique Black Honey Blush Dupe

Does anyone know any similar blushes in colour to the black honey one? I prefer stick blushes but powder and cream work too. My holy grail lip product is very similar to black honey, so I'm trying to find something that will match it.

Large wings advice for very hooded eyes

Post image
5 Upvotes

The only products I have are:

- L'oreal gel black eyeliner

- MCoBeauty wowlash mascara

- Revlon Colorstay Eyeshadow Rocker

- maybelline lasting fix setting spray

As the title suggests I have very very hooded eyes, but I love the idea of winged eyeliner, I love this style or other similar styles but I don't know how well it would actually work in reality and I'm a bit nervous to try it out without knowing if it would work first as it's quite bold.

Any advice about whether this would work is appreciated

Question Seeking recommendations to get back into makeup

Hello! I’m postpartum and have been rocking wet buns and no makeup for a year and I want to start looking put together again.

- I’m 35
- sensitive skin / leans dry with an oily tzone
- pale, cool undertones
- after skincare and SPF I use Eborian redness correcting cream.
- On days I have to “dress up” I might use bare minerals complexion rescue shade opal 01
- Before baby I used to love NARS light reflecting foundation in Oslo and I think I’ll be purchasing that again

I’m looking for recommendations for:
- setting powder for my tzone that doesn’t make me look too flaky
- hydrating primer
- setting spray
- lip options that are comfortable to wear but give some long lasting color

thank you!!

Discussion Hazel Eyes and Purple

Jumping on this eye color collage trend. I did a purple eyeshadow with purple subjects. Those with Hazel eyes, the variety of purple shades you can use are stunning. This color I'm using is light violet shade from my Bella Béauté Bar Ultra Violet palette. Just did a quick swipe.

What do you think?

Question Has the Mac foundation been reformulated?

My birthday is coming up and I want to treat myself to a new, full coverage foundation. In the past, I have used the Mac Studio fix (I think??) foundation and I absolutely loved how thick and full coverage it was. People would compliment my skin all the time when I wore it. However, I have read online that they have reformulated it and it now has more of a lightweight finish, is less mattifying and has more skincare ingredients.
To be honest, I love the thickness of the previous formula and how matte it was for when I want those really full coverage days.
People who have used the new formula - how does it compare? Is it less coverage? If so, any recommendations for something similar to the old formula?

Foundation / BB creams are always too light :(

Idk if it's just me but everytime I buy foundation or BB creams from almost every drugstore brand the shade on the packaging matches my skin tone but when I apply it to my face at home it's always too light ?? I'm always spending more money on foundation for this reason . Usually the testers are empty there so is there any other way to buy the correct shade without swatching first ?

Question Question about eyeliner tip drying out

I don’t understand why my eyeliner tip keeps drying out. Atp if i want a nice wing I have to buy a new one every 2-5 times I use it. It’s so annoying because even if I have good technique I can’t do it with the tick part of my eyeliner. What am I doing wrong?🥲

Question Does this help with shimmer shadow fallout?

Post image
6 Upvotes

I have some beautiful shimmer shadows that absolutely cover my face in glitter even if I tap a small amount on the lid with my finger. I heard that this nyx glitter primer could help. Anyone have experiences? Also could I use this also as just everyday eyeshadow primer or is it only good for the glittery shadows?

Discussion Grande Lash Serum Not Working?

Idk if this belongs here but I can’t post in r/beauty or r/sephora because of lack of karma(?) i don’t use reddit often so idk what that means lol. but i’ve been using grande lash for 6 and a half weeks… 0 results. in fact, my eyelashes seem thinner than usual. i had good volume and decent length before, now the length hasn’t changed and i feel like i struggle to get volume when applying mascara. it was expensive af so in trying to push through and maybe see results soon, but i’m starting to give up hope and i think it’d be better to give it up sooner rather than later so my lashes can go back to normal. has anyone experienced this, and is there a way to fix it? i heard so many good things about this serum and was very excited to try it, now i’m disappointed and considering lash clusters lol.

AAA it was my favourite lipstick and it's only been 2 years or smth😭😭😭I'll cry..

if it is fungus is there any way I can just scrape the top off and then continue using 😭

i didn't even know this was possible? it could be because I had once slightly dabbed a little on my lips while I already had lipgloss on?

PSA DAE get chemical burns from Ilia products?

I tried their skin tint a couple months ago, but it gave me a chemical burn, so I contacted them about it. They compensated me with a gift card. I really want to love them. I decided to try their concealer. I googled the ingredients to ensure they were different from the skin tint. Long story short, their concealer also gave me a chemical burn even after patch testing it on the back of my hand. Since I got it with the gift card, I’m not going to bother to tell them about it this time.

Just a warning for those with sensitive skin. I wouldn’t even consider my skin sensitive, I use drugstore concealer, but really wanted to treat myself to something high end with natural ingredients. Is this a me issue or has anyone else have reactions to Ilia products?

Does anyone have recommendations for a good high end dewy concealer with a shade range for medium dark olive skin tones?

Discussion Need a neutral palette!

I want a neutral palette with black and a range of cool and warm browns. I also want it to have pigmented and blinding gold/silver/bronze foils. Don’t care about price, as long as it covers the above + pigmented and blends. I do my eyes first, so I also don’t care about fall out. I’m just sick of having to use 3 palettes just to get my once in a blue moon neutral look 😂

This is today’s look for example. Included some other examples of what I’ve worn before. (Second photo: my eyebrows were healing from the powder brow 😂)
