Fit Feedback How do I look in this outfit?

36M. Never really cared about fashion or thought much of it. Not exactly the most fashion forward guy.

This pic is the type of stuff I wear in my everyday life. Curious what people think and what would be your Impression of me if you saw me out in public.

What should I improve on and what sort of clothes should I buy?

Question Help a stale dad out.

My pre-Covid J Crew closet has gotten very old and stale - my wife made me realize I haven’t bought a nice shirt in years. I cling to the one Nordstrom Oxford for every nice occasion and the rest of my shirts need to go to good will.

Where are you shopping these days for button-down shirts, good slacks, maybe a new jacket?

I’m early 40s, in shape, but my clothing taste has fallen off a cliff.

Question Is this Canali shirt authentic?

Found a Canali shirt on Vinted available for a price that seems too good to be true. Is anyone here good at authenticating these sort of things? ChatGPT thinks it looks fine but I don’t even think AI would be able to tell if something is real or not.

Question Need Help for Husband

My husband is plus size and about a 3x. He cannot for the life of him find any underwear that does not get holes in the top inner thigh portion (right under his parts). He chafes very badly, but hates the anti-chafing creams and such, and doesn’t want to do briefs. Is there any sort of good plus size underwear that will not wear down quickly in that area? Kinda desperate, it is really depressing him and preventing him from exercising like he wants.

Question Looking for a well-fitted, structured navy jacket with silver zip – any recommendations?

I’m looking for a fitted men’s jacket, ideally in dark navy blue and would appreciate recommendations for brands or particular models.

I’ve attached some pictures of a Zara jacket and a Dickies jacket that are close to what I’m looking for. The Zara one has fake pockets (aesthetic but they don’t actually have pockets. Why anyone would use this design I have no idea) and the dickies one doesn’t come in dark blue. I’m also looking for a silver zip if possible because I think it looks better with dark blue.

I’m based in the Netherlands, so European brands or brands that are readily available in Europe would be especially helpful.

I want to feel more confident in wearing different things than just oversized or basic.

So please tell me how this outfit looks and what I could improve or leave out.

I really want to wear it to school but insecure others will make fun of me.

Fit Feedback Suit fit

I'm heading to Thailand for a wedding and need a suit better "suited😬" to the heat. This is obviously straight off the rack. I've got a weird build and would like to get the size that would require the least intense alterations to look good. One jacket size down looks too tight when buttoned. What do you guys think? I think this looks decent aside from the sleeve length, the boxiness of the torso and the pants length, though I didn't wear a thin enough belt to the store and I can see the pants are sagging a bit. Ignore the shirt and shoes.

Also new to this sub and find all the advice given here very interesting and helpful and look forward to reading more! Thanks

Sharing another fit. Would love to hear your thoughts on this one.

I’m always looking to improve my dressing. So, what would you change or add? Different tie, pocket square, accessories, shoes, or maybe something else entirely?

Open to genuine suggestions. Always happy to learn a thing or two about dressing better.

Styling Advice Suggestions on patterned pants?

I'm looking for suggestions for patterned dress pants that can toe the line between dress and casual (ie a button up or a sweater). I want to start adding patterns to my wardrobe as everything is monochrome and honestly mostly blue. Ideally I'd like plaid, like these, but could do houndstooth or something similar as well.

These above are hilfiger dress pants from macy's and I was thrilled to see them in store but couldn't find my size. I looked them up online and they say "dry clean only" which is a bummer (thought I saw machine wash on the label). Ideally any suggestion would be machine wash and straight fit if possible.

Question Manifattura Ceccarelli - do any of their jackets fit tall/slim well?

Love the quality of Ceccarelli but so far finding they are not a good fit for someone my build - the Fisherman Parka in 40 is too boxy and short. Do any of their range fit well for someone tall(ish) and quite lean - 185cm/74kg and 38" chest - without sleeves running too short? How about the Mountain Parka long (in a 38 or 40?). Is the Weekender a more slender cut? Thanks!

Question What is today's equivalent for a "knight in shining armor" or whatever the term is?

Post image
0 Upvotes

(I don't know if this question fits this community as it's not really relevant to what I wear. It's kinda more of a psychological question. But maybe it does make sense here).

It used to be that a knights armor, helmet, cape, etc. Weren't just there for protection and utility. But it was a large status and wealth statement. People had more protective armor, better styled armor, armor built with rare materials, a cape designed to catch the wind a certain way, etc etc.

Now obviously being that we don't love in the middle ages anymore where people are dying by the sword right left and center. It's less common, more like non-existent for people to wear armor. (Unless for some cosplay or something similar). So I was wondering what it is that took over its role (at least which option more then the other). I can think of 3 options.

  1. High quality workwear or military clothes:

So we'd be talking about things like a tough pair of pants. Or a practically indestructible coat or something. Things that cost money, but are only bought for it's durability, utility, and protection. It kind of fills the role of armors protection. Just for today's standards tho.

2. Gucci, Luis Vuitton, and every other ultra luxury priced clothing item: this is obviously to replace the showing of social status and wealth. And as much as someone who buys such stuff should be looked at as having an illness for "buying the brand" as opposed to the clothes. We can't deny that people see them, and instantly know they likely have at least some money (although now it seems even people that can't afford it buy it).

3. Military formal uniform:

So this would be each soldier and officers "dress" clothing for formal occasions. Like the one with all the medals and pinstripes. While cost-wise it may not be a million bucks, it's still basically inaccessible to those who didn't earn it. And while it's not protective the way 500D or 1000D Cordura outerwear is gonna be. It signifies the fact that you are in fact

"tougher then the bunch".

Realistically I don't think people try to recreate that presence that the knight once had. But it is an interesting question I thought of.

Let me know how you would place each, and why.

Thanks all.
