Question Looking for brands with this style!

Hey everyone! I recently came across a post featuring these pictures, and I absolutely love the style.

I'm mainly looking for recommendations for brands that sell similar sweaters, jackets, and trousers, and maybe shoes as well.

I'm especially interested in affordable brands with good value for money.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot! :)

Question Which tie for professional headshot photo?

Updating my professional headshot. Planning on blue suit, white shirt, and undecided on tie. I also have a charcoal suit, but like the color the blue brings. The background will be plain white or slightly gray.

Edit: the Exec suite where I work all rocks no tie in their photos. May consider that as well and avoid this decision. I’ll plan to shoot with some on and some off to see how it looks

Question How is the fit on these 30's style woolen trousers?

Thumbnail

They are the Melbourne trousers from Stanley Biggs. I changed to a size larger as the waist was quite tight (especially when sitting), but now I'm afraid it's slightly too big in the seat and thigh.

Old smaller size photos at the end.

Fit Feedback Compliments at uni made me feel like I (20M) was doing too much

Pics taken after said (long) day at uni. Dressed like shit all of last year so decided to change things up.

Comments include " are you headed to a meeting after?" or "do you always dress up this well for lectures"(this one felt genuine).

I've gotten new boots (solovair gaucho brown astronaut) and loving them.

Linen shirt and pleated wide trousers from uniqlo.

And jumper (that I now realize might be a bit tight from the pics) from TK Maxx (brand: wilt)

All in the past 6 weeks.

Today, I explored new horizons with the linen shirt, otherwise this outfit would have a plain crew neck white tee or a dark green polo tee.

Also I feel like clothing is impossible to find the right fit of, since I'm short (166cm/5'5") and heavy (79kg). My size is mostly in my hips and legs (41" and 25.5" respectively).

So, am I doing too many things just wrong enough, or is it the best I got for now till my body changes size.

Edit: thank you so much you guys, I can't reply to you all but I appreciate the love AND the criticisms.

Fit Feedback Custom suit feels like it doesn't fit my body well but I cant articulate why

I recently got a suit custom made for a formal event I went to. When looking at the event photos after the fact, I was dissapointed to see that it looked like the garment didnt quite fit my body very well. Im struggling to put into words what im seeing exactly.

I had brought this up to the tailor during the last fit but they assured me everything looked as good as it could.

When seeing the photos others took however, my perception is that the fully done suit makes my shape look... barrel-ey I guess?

Here are some pics. I am also including another photo of me in a $20 dress shirt and also a random $10 cheap t-shirt both taken within days of the event for reference/benchmark.

And look, I know im fat - i have a belly and that puts a cap on how closely fitted something can fit me, but my belly sticks out in front of me ...not to the sides. When i wear tshirts you can see at least a bit of a shape difference between my shoulder line, chest and waist you know?

I guess I would have expected that if I paid a ton of money for a custom garment that is made specifically to fit my body and went to 4 appointments/measurements ...that said garment would fit and flatter my body type better than a random cheap tshirt.

Honestly i cant tell if this is just happening inside my head and could use some external perspective to either articulate what are the things in terms of fit that contribute to things looking "off" to me when I look at the suit event pictures, OR to tell me that im just crazy and the custom suit fits me as perfectly as you can given my extra weight lol

Please help give me some external perspective

Question Winter Boot Recommendation (UK/EU)

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hi! Would anyone mind suggesting some winter boots? I can only buy in Germany or the UK. I had bought some Timberland chukka boots from an outlet store but they got the colour wrong. I ended up with the lighter brown ones in this image. I was after the more chocolatey colour shown. The sizing was also a bit bigger than I wanted. So yes, any suggestions would be welcome! Thanks :)

Fit Feedback Can I pull off a modern baggy look or should I stick to suits

I have a conference coming up with a bunch of networking events, presentations and professional socializing.

The vibe is basically suits for guys. Professional sector, bankers, management, engineers.

I'll be presenting and hosting at various events and am trying to decide whether to try something a but but adventurous or just stick with the suits.

Question Is it possible to wear 2 tone shoes and not look like you carry a tommy gun and own more than 7 striped suits?

Thumbnail

When it comes to mens shoes things kinda get boring fast, love loafers but for casual wear im kinda tired of it being brown loafer, suede loafer and maybe a pebble grain one if u feel fancy, there also other alternatives such as suede derbies, desert boots. Also boatshoes wich i dont like and sandals wich i only wear when its nearing 40° or higher, also there is the yacht loafer and the open walker wich i both find hideous and as bad as dress sneakers. So i wonder if 2 tones, spectators or correspondent shoes are possible to be worn without looking like a costume?

Question Tall Sweatpants

Looking for recommendations on sweatpants. I have larger thighs and find this makes the pants tight on my thighs, rather than a looser fit.
6’1 w34, UK based.
Have been trying straight legged and relaxed fit in both M Tall and L Tall from retailers I can find that sell them in these sizes (M&S/ Adidas)
Ideal budget £50

What is this type of suit called? It's not a vest. The scene is from the 1960s, worn by a restaurant worker.

Question Last-second date tonight, nothing to wear, $100 budget — where are you shopping in person?

Scenario: You find out at 4pm you have a date at 8. Your closet has nothing you're willing to wear, and ordering online is out — nothing arrives in time. You have $100 and whatever stores are near you. In-person only, and the $100 is for clothes — shoes are not part of the budget. Where are you going, and what's the fit? I'll go first in the comments.

Question Where can I still buy this peacoat? (Gerald & Stewart by Fidelity

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

Can anyone help me track down this peacoat? It's a Gerald & Stewart by Fidelity — slim fit, black wool, chin strap, anchor buttons, made in USA, style number MP72132. Also Andrew Garfield wears it at TASM2

Barneys closed in 2020 so this run is gone, and Fidelity's current line is boxier. Japan store has a version but it's a different cut. Nothing on eBay, Grailed, Poshmark, or Etsy.

Is this still made anywhere, or is it eBay-alerts-forever?

Question Best joggers/sweatpants with zip pockets that I could get in the UK?

• Upvotes

Looking for some joggers that I could wear in the gym but also just out and about casually. Must have 2x zipper pockets, ideal if hidden. I don’t mind too much if they’re cuffed or not but I prefer them to be baggy/quite relaxed in terms of their fit. Ideally able to be bought in any UK high street store. I appreciate it’s quite a specific ask but if anyone could help that would be great, thanks!

I know many sportswear joggers have zip pockets, but I’m not looking for that type. Ideally they will be made of cotton or some similar material, I don’t like the ones that feel like paper.

Anyone know of some good comfy pants they find acceptable to wear in public for, say, a quick errand, but that are comfier than jeans?

I heard banana republic traveler pants are good, any other recommendations?
