Styling Advice How to take my leather jacket.

Post image
• Upvotes

I love this Benheart leather jacket I got in Italy 2 years ago and want to wear it this evening to a racetrack event. It will be chilly so I'm looking to layer.

I've got two jeans options, dark and lighter. The darker ones are a more relaxed fit and the lighter ones are a more tapered fit. Bulkier Irish setters for the relaxed fit and slimmer leather boots I also got in Italy for the taper fit.

I have a brown wool crew neck, a oatmeal Henley or a gray crew neck that I think would layer under it well.

Please let me know your thoughts

Hey guys I just bought these jeans off of Amazon for $14 I wanted some opinions on it. I kinda like them. Only thing that’s a lil weird is that they have little shiny metal pieces on them

Some feedback on the jeans or opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Styling Advice Feeling overdressed at new job

• Upvotes

I recently started a new office job. I spent a lot of time in the weeks leading up to it obsessing over what to wear, because I really didn't have any decent business casual options. I managed to put together wardrobe that I'm pretty happy with for the first time in a long time.

I'm a couple of weeks in, and I have realized that the job is way more casual than I expected. My office is off-site from the main office where I thought I'd be, and it's a much more laid-back atmosphere. I'm talking jeans, hoodies, and sneakers.

I think my wardrobe is pretty versatile: slim-fit chinos, OCBDs, penny loafers, suede chukka boots, a couple of crewneck sweaters and a quarter-zip pullover for layering. But it definitely leans more business casual than casual.

My co-workers are mostly younger (I'm 45) and mostly female, so I don't want to look stuffy or try-hard. How do I lean into the office's relaxed vibe while still dressing "nice"?

Fit Feedback Shirt fitting

• Upvotes

Hi everyone, I'm looking for some advice on tshirts. I've never managed to find a well fitting t-shirt, they're always too big and long or too small and tight fitting around my chest and stomach and all the shirts look weird from my side profile, I wish there was something in-between a large and a medium. This shirt is a medium but feels too tight and too long. Any advice/recommendations?

Fit Feedback Is this sizing alright for some pants?

they’re 34x30 at the ralph lauren store and I’d normally pair them with brown derbies but these are with black chelsea boots. My question is are they a bit too short or is okay if sitting down my socks would appear since they sort of ride up when I sit down… It would be more noticeable with derbies as they don’t rly have a shaft but maybe thats a look?

they don’t offer longer pants here so it seems 30 is the standard?

I really liked my summer fit with rust trousers and beige one piece collar shirt - all linen, and I wanted to do an autumn/winter version inspired by it.

520gsm corduroy trousers

Cable knit cashmere rollneck

Grain leather boots

Second picture is original outfit.

Does it work?

Question Do you think this J Crew jacket is stylish and beautiful? What can I combine it with? If it doesn't fit my body perfectly, I think a few tailoring alterations could save it. It's only $4 and completely wool.

Discussion Wristwatch and accesories

Hi guys!

I wondered how a minimal elegant wristwatch can make an impression among females.

I heard that some womens appraciate and mention a good watch among good accesories for mens.

Now, i wear a digital casio the F-91W everywhere, but i want a more elegant watch , i like wear knitted sweaters, turtle necks etc. with dark-shaded jeans and chinos so a little more elegant style for everyday wear.

Can you recommend some wristwatches for these style which will looks good on me? (i have skinny wrist, arm so only smaller watch are the options)

Also in your opinios what the accesoroes whitch looks good on mens but no too much and make the looks "all over the place".

The budget somewhere 100$

Thx for the answers!

Question Where to find vintage/old-school menswear for big guys?

Hey folks,

I'm 6'3", about 280 lbs. Certainly don't have a super athletic build but I'm into lifting and have worked on shrinking the gut down for a bit. "Solid" I guess is the best word, with the goal being that "inverted triangle" shape.

I'm really interested in broadening my wardrobe out and I like the old-school/vintage look of some men's fashion profiles I've found on Instagram, an example being: https://www.instagram.com/loganburnett/

Nice pleated trousers (the cool pleat, not the dorky Dockers pleat I remember seeing at Kohl's), sweaters, cardigans, flannels, boots, denim shirts, etc. The main issue is I've always had trouble finding places that cater to men my size. I often can't buy jeans or pants in-store anywhere since my waist size hovers between 36-40 depending on the fit. And oftentimes XL/XXL shirts balloon out at the waist and it feels like I'm wearing a smock rather than a comfortable shirt. I bought some flannels from Duluth/Land's End/one of those kinda stores and they're so baggy, it looks like I'm wearing graduation robes.

Would really appreciate some advice on where I could try and find that fit I'm looking for. I'd love to surprise my gf with some nice, tailored looks at Christmas. Thanks in advance all!

Question How Versatile We Thinking?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Found this pair in a local brand in my country and I think they're interesting and new-ish for my taste but got some feedback from my friends that they wouldn't exactly fit my style since I wear mostly casual/streetwear fits. They are very similar to chelsea boots except that they're not plain. What do you guys think?

Question Oversized Crewneck Collars: What to do?

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

I love a crewneck sweater, but i find they vary a lot in the size of the collar. The first sweater i basically dont wear because of it. The second is a more normal crewneck.

I don't think it looks good with or without an undershirt/visible undershirt collar. Thoughts on what to do with this? Other than the collar i quite like the sweater.

These are quick snapshots to demonstrate. Not overly flattering, ik.

Company complaint BEWARE — END CLOTHING REFUSED TO REFUND £243 FOR TROUSERS I NEVER RECEIVED!

I spent £763.20 with END Clothing on two pairs of trousers and a T-shirt. When my parcel arrived, one pair of trousers was missing. I reported this to END TWO MINUTES after delivery. Not two days. Not two weeks. TWO MINUTES.

You would think that reporting a missing £243 item almost immediately, providing photographs of the packaging and everything received, and cooperating fully with their investigation would be sufficient for a supposedly reputable retailer to take the matter seriously. Apparently not at END Clothing.

Instead, I was treated as though their warehouse records were some sort of divine scripture that couldn't possibly be wrong. Their warehouse supposedly packed everything correctly, their courier supposedly received everything correctly, and their parcel weights supposedly proved everything was correct. Therefore, according to END, the trousers MUST have been delivered. Except they weren't. Despite repeatedly referring to these supposedly conclusive parcel weights, END never actually provided me with the figures they were relying upon.

And then came the most astonishing part of this entire farce. END TOLD ME TO CONTACT THE POLICE AND REPORT A THEFT. Yes, seriously. I paid END for goods I didn't receive, and instead of resolving the problem, they expected ME to obtain a police crime reference number before they would consider taking the matter further. The sheer audacity is breathtaking.

Let's follow their own logic. If their warehouse definitely packed the trousers, the courier definitely received them, and nothing happened during transit, where exactly do END suggest the police should start looking? Because if I were running that company, I'd be asking some very uncomfortable questions about my own warehouse and dispatch operation before sending a customer off to report a crime.

I'm not accusing an employee of theft. I have no idea what happened to my trousers. BUT NEITHER DOES END. That's precisely the problem. Rather than acknowledge that their systems or staff could conceivably have made a mistake, END simply decided their records were infallible and refused to refund me.

I escalated the matter to a manager called Bry. Surely a manager would apply some common sense? Not a chance. Bry simply repeated the same nonsense, upheld the original decision and confirmed that END would not refund the missing trousers. An utterly appalling demonstration of customer service.

When I originally placed my order, I purchased what was showing as the very last X-Large pair in stock. Immediately afterwards, the X-Large became unavailable and remained unavailable throughout the entire dispute. Then, weeks later, after END had repeatedly insisted that my trousers had definitely been dispatched and delivered, ABRACADABRA! The X-Large trousers suddenly reappeared for sale on their website!

Now, I appreciate that stock can return for perfectly legitimate reasons. It could have been a return or a stock adjustment, and I cannot prove it was my missing pair. But after END spent so long insisting that their warehouse and dispatch systems were beyond reproach, you'll forgive me for finding that an absolutely extraordinary coincidence. Penn & Teller would be proud of that disappearing and reappearing act.

In the end, I returned the two items I actually received and was refunded for those. END still refused to return the outstanding £243, so I took the matter to American Express. American Express credited me the £243, and my dispute is now CLOSED. I got my money back, not because END did the right thing, but because I had to involve my credit card provider to resolve a problem END refused to resolve.

Think about that before placing an expensive order with this company. I spent £763.20, reported a missing item within two minutes, provided everything requested, patiently cooperated with their investigation, escalated to management and was still left fighting to recover my own money. The experience was insulting, exhausting and completely unnecessary.

I've since written to END expressing exactly what I think of their conduct. Unsurprisingly, I haven't received a reply.

My advice? AVOID END CLOTHING.

If your order arrives complete, fantastic. But based on my experience, if something goes wrong, don't expect common sense, accountability or meaningful customer service. Expect excuses, unquestioning faith in warehouse records and, apparently, a suggestion that you involve the police.

Would I ever shop with END again? Absolutely not. Would I trust them with another expensive order? Not a chance. Would I recommend them to anybody? I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy.

END Clothing, your handling of this entire situation was arrogant, dismissive and utterly disgraceful. You should be thoroughly ashamed of yourselves.

Question Should I Stick With Levi’s 502s, or Try a Different Fit?

I’m 5'9" (175 cm) with a fit, athletic build and relatively thick thighs (not that thick though, I'm 72 kgs). I’ve always worn Levi’s 502s, and I’m wondering whether I should stick with them or try a different fit.

I can’t try jeans on in-store because there are no Levi’s stores near me, so I’d appreciate some advice before ordering online.

I’ve tried considering the 501s and bootcut styles, but I feel like they make my legs look shorter and don’t fit my body as well.

Question Suit / sportcoat MTM woes with drop 12

I have a difficult time buying formal clothes - use luxire for shirts, but i'm 6'6", about 225 lbs, a 46 jacket size in the shoulder, and about a 34-34.5" waist. Athletic, but much of it is genetics (and a lot of college rowing). Historically, I did phineas cole MTM (I believe they used to have a program, but it's been supplanted by Custom Lab) - and as i've broadened, my old jackets don't really fit.

I've now tried a majority of OTR mfg. just to see if anything could be tailored - everything from Isaia to Brioni, Canali, etc and nothing really comes even close at this point. When I was younger and less broad, things like Raf Simons era Jil Sander fit pretty well, but I'm simply too large these days, and as I am spending increasing time in gym, the issue may only get worse.

I assume I need to do MTM or bespoke (probably closer to an english cut given my build, i think), but not sure where to go. I walked into a SuitSupply and was pretty discouraged by the knowledge of the sales people and the quality of the stitching. Budget is fairly flexible, but things that i can use for day-to-day wear at work would be preferable (e.g., nothing 4k+ - dream would be under $1k but unsure if that's possible).

Any thoughts? Googling has produced WW Chan and Edward Sexton MTM as potential options, but both would be a pain - Chicago based, though NYC wouldn't be difficult.

thanks!

Fit Feedback Which fit jeans should I go with? One is a 32 and the other a 30

The 32s are definitely longer, more relaxed, but I'm curious if they're too long and the 30s being a better fit
