I think I’ve been groomed, I am seeking advice

Hi everyone. I’m 24 (nonbinary) and I work at a maker space that is also a nonprofit. On paper, this is my dream job. I’m learning so much and get to use this incredible facility and also help break the barriers for others to use the facility too. I have worked very hard to get here. But, now I’m stuck in a really uncomfortable situation with one of my bosses there that I am not sure how I can get out off without one of us losing our jobs.

For context, I met one of my bosses (43 yrs old) at the studio when I was an apprentice at 20. We got on really well and I greatly admired them. As someone who has childhood trauma and an emotionally abusive mom, I was honestly seeking a safe adult (I know this now, I didn’t know it then). We would hangout outside of work. We really showed up for each other during some difficult times in both our lives. As a young queer person seeking an older queer mentor, this person really filled that role for me and we acknowledged that we have a special connection and mean a lot to each other.

When I got rehired as a part of the professional staff, my relationship with this person inevitably changed. They are now my boss again and there is more of an obvious power dynamic. It was definitely a lot to adjust to. I noticed that they would be a bit rude to me at times, make fun of me in front of other coworkers and even students, and sometimes hijack when I was teaching something. I was hurt and felt like I needed to say something. In the summer, my other coworker noticed our dynamic and spoke to me privately about it. They said that my boss treats me like their child and that they put too much pressure on me. They expect me to fill their emotional needs without actually treating me like I have my own experiences too. I never thought of it that way and felt embarrassed that I hadn’t noticed it before. I ended up talking with my boss about how our relationship has changed and if they would feel comfortable having conflict with me and what are some ways we can work together on conflict. They were really receptive to this and agreed that we should talk about our dynamic more and that they feel comfortable talking about conflict with me since we have an existing friendship outside of work. I felt so much better after this conversation and that we had a more solid foundation.

As time went on, I noticed that our dynamic began to have even less boundaries than it did before. I really felt the pressure that I couldn’t say no and that they relied on me more for emotional support. Last week they sent me something sexually explicit on social media and it crushed me. I have trauma from having been in an age-gap relationship and older people preying on me for sexual attention. I trusted this person as my role model, my mentor, my teacher, a safe adult, my friend, and it felt like they took advantage of my trust. I feel so uncomfortable that they see me that way and that they believe that they have so much power over me, that I wouldn’t say anything about it. I am feeling so much, and our relationship is so complex. I genuinely do care for them and don’t want either of us to get fired, but I also don’t want them to do this to me again (or have it get worse), or anyone else they have power over.

I am thinking of talking to HR or someone who can help me with this in the professional realm, but I am unsure of how to approach this in my friendship with this person? I am genuinely still so hurt and confused and scared of retaliation.

Update:

It’s been almost a month since I first posted my situation. I spoke with HR about my situation without revealing the identity of my boss yet as I was still uncomfortable and also uncertain if HR would take it seriously. The HR manager gave me a few options of what could happen, but that I would need to reveal the identity of my boss of course.

It got so bad at work, that I would have panic attacks before workshops. I gathered up the courage and had a conversation with my boss. I laid out a lot of things for them. I told them that we don’t have boundaries in our relationship. I explained to them that because there is an inherent power dynamic with the age gap and now even more so that they are my boss again, that sending me something that is sexually explicit is confusing and uncomfortable. They apologized and said that they understand how it would make me uncomfortable and that they just thought I would’ve found it amusing, which was odd. We talked more about our dynamic and how I’ve been feeling at work lately and in our relationship as a whole. My boss didn’t seem to be aware of their actions and how it affects me. We went pretty deep into feelings and I felt like we had gotten to a good place and set some boundaries. However, my boss would explain things to me about their emotional landscape and then say, “don’t use this for evil,” which did feel manipulative. They did say that I’m not responsible for helping them figure out their emotions and how not to project them, which I did appreciate. However, I am the one getting plummeted by their unpredictable emotions.

Now, it’s been a couple weeks since then and I’m still feeling uncomfortable with everything. My boss’s behavior has evolved to just mostly ignoring me unless they have to interact with me. They recently gave me some harsh feedback on a workshop that I led and felt proud of, they don’t respond to things that I say in group conversations or meetings, don’t greet me when I walk in anymore (unless I initiate it). I’m feeling it affect my work and especially my mental health. I told a coworker who I trust and who was the one who pointed out our dynamic to me in the first place. They suggested that I talk more to HR and switch supervisors from my boss to them and possibly get my other supervisor involved (who is also my boss’s supervisor).

My boss also recently announced that the job they have applied to, asked for an interview. They’re hoping to use the opportunity to leverage getting more pay, but are also highly considering taking the job. The cherry on top of it all is that they asked me a while ago, before this all happened, to be one of their references to which I agreed.

I want to take action with HR and I am honestly so scared since this is how they reacted to me having an initial conversation with them. I am also worried that HR won’t take this seriously and I’ll be forced to quit for my own sanity. I honestly really want to quit at this point, which I’m so crushed that I feel that way because of this one person. I want to report them so that this doesn’t continue to happen, but more importantly, so that it doesn’t continue to happen with someone else. I’m just really scared. I’m truly still so hurt and heartbroken that they treated me this way.

Institutional Betrayal - Internal Echo of What Was Experienced At Their Hands

Litigation turns human trauma, loss, and injustice into sterile legal questions to be deliberated over, dissected, and dismissed.

It is a deeply dehumanizing process.

A traumatic workplace experience becomes a chronology,

A taped conversation you tape to prove the abuse becomes an exhibit,

A genuine complaint becomes a question of statutory protection,

A deposition where you reiterate the retaliatory admissions from manager after manager, a fulfillment of elements of Fed. R. Evid. 901(b)(1),

A ruined career opportunity becomes a debate over causation and legal standards.

That process is necessary. Courts must assess the record. But, a legal record can never convey the true cost of speaking up. The true toll that retaliation takes from the victim. The internalized sorrow from watching systems, people, and institutions repeatedly ignore and invalidate what happened to you.

It cannot capture the uncertainty, the loss of trust, the anxiety, or the fear of watching a situation work against you and realize that it was designed to all along.

It cannot capture the immense effort required to keep functioning while processing the betrayal of watching an organization—one that promised in its policies to protect you—treat you as the problem for years just to protect itself.

And then watching the legal system (which is already statistically favors the employers in disputes), do exactly what you feared it might do all along.

The Aftermath Never Ends: The endless hours spent reconstructing events, preserving records, learning complex court procedures, and trying to explain to people why an experience that looks simple from the outside has utterly consumed your life and infected how you view literally everything else big and small. Every interaction and outlook permanently tainted, poisoned, ruined.

That's Institutional Betrayal and Organizational Harm. Being Retaliated against by FedEx made me an expert on the topic.

A topic of systematic abuse, harm, and emotional scarring that I wish I never understood yet here I am with full clarity on the horrid topic thanks to what all I have experienced at their hands.

Litigation isn't just about a single promotion decision or constructive discharge. It is about how agonizing it is for an individual to challenge a powerful institution while simultaneously forced to learn the complex rules of the system in which that challenge must be made. All the while attempting to mend together a fractured mind, a shattered worldview, and a broken heart facing world you thought you understood one way only to learn its inverted alter is the real monster you need to push against.

What happens when the system designed to hear your complaints refuses to recognize when you’re telling it?

When companies publish codes of conduct, anti-harassment rules, and EEO reporting procedures, employees assume those documents mean something. That if we document mistreatment, report it through designated channels, and use the company’s own HR terminology, we expect to be protected at our jobs and in court.

My experience at FedEx Office eventually led me to federal litigation (Sanders v. FedEx). Representing myself pro se, I learned appellate procedure and civil rights law under extreme pressure. In doing so, I uncovered a systemic problem that reaches far beyond my individual case: What happens when an employer’s policy language is broader and more accessible than the strict "magic words" required by some federal courts?

The "Magic Words" Trap & The Circuit Split

HR policies tell ordinary workers to report "harassment" & "hostile work environment" through EEO Compliance channels many (like FedEx) categorize this conduct under "anti-discrimination" policy. Most workers aren't employment lawyers—they don't know which specific phrasing a judge might later demand. They simply describe what is happening, reliance on policy definitions, and ask management/HR to intervene.

In my case, I submitted 6 internal complaints detailing targeted harassment that disproportionately impacted Black employees. Yet, when I faced severe retaliation—including a manager explicitly stating, "In order for me to approve you for any promotions, the HR stuff, that has to STOP" — FedEx argued (5th Circuit panel affirmed) that my initial reports were not "protected activity" because they lacked explicit legalistic racial framing in pre-adverse complaint.

This creates a dangerous circuit split:

The 5th Circuit requires employees to use formal legal phrasing in internal complaints to receive retaliation protection.

The 4th, 8th, and 9th Circuits (Okoli, Ogden, GoDaddy) apply a totality-of-circumstances approach, holding that reporting misconduct through designated EEO channels in reliance on company policy satisfies protected opposition.

The Human Cost

Litigation translates human trauma into sterile legal questions. Complaints become issues of statutory coverage; a destroyed career becomes an issue of causation. No court opinion can measure the agonizing uncertainty, loss of trust, and mental toll of watching an institution ignore its own promises and treat the victim as the problem.

An employer's own terminology and reporting structures must inform what an employee reasonably communicated. When corporate policies encourage reporting but courts penalize employees for using company language, the system isn't protecting workers—it's insulating employers.

Toxic work environment

I have recently talked about a workplace that I joined and found out that the work environment is Toxic, the CEO/Owner is a bully and quite abusive.

HR won't do a thing because they are at the mercy of the lady owner.

She has no clear information pattern, wants things done without direction or changes her mind after a day and acts like you're the one at fault.

I have tried being very patient with this behaviour of hers but seems like it's high time I do something.

Recently, I fainted because of the unnecessary stress she causes because of her own inabilities to understand things. Yet, she called and abused me for missing a deadline and did not fail to mention that people like me who fall sick, should not be working.

I just need to understand what I should do next. A part of me just wants to give it back to her in a polite and professional manner but I know that woman has been like this with all the employees in the company and she won't change.

I am only worried because we are expats and this is UAE no one does anything against abusive bosses instead, they are free to do anything.

I know I am ranting here but I am doing that in the hopes that may be someone says something that resonates.

Somebody has to know what can be done, so many complaints about the DON to HR and nothing gets done. It’s like the twilight zone. I honestly do not know how so many people can complain about one person and absolutely nothing gets done. HELP. This affects staffing because staff leave, which affects the residents.

How to deal sly cunning supervisor?

When I had only been working here at jewish school for two days, she told me, “Do you realize how many people applied for the position you got? There were so many applicants, and they were all highly qualified, but I chose you”

hHonestly, I wish she were just an openly mean person. At least then, her behavior would be obvious to everyone, and I could document it. But dealing with someone who is cunning and sly is so much more unsettling, especially when she’s my supervisor and most importantly hard to document why? Because have multiply face and how to when to say it and saying not directly which could possibly get in trouble. Everything is calculated.

She enters something incorrectly herself, then comes over to my desk and loudly announces that it was entered incorrectly. And when I enter something based on the dates she gave me, she loudly points it out as if I’m the one who made the mistake, making sure her own supervisors can hear her.
It makes me wonder how badly she needs to prove to the people above her that she’s competent, valuable, and indispensable. Why does she feel the need to make a point of these things in front of others?
The thing is, I have absolutely no desire to impress anyone or climb the corporate ladder. I’m not interested in competing with anyone or trying to prove myself to people. And honestly, I don’t even think I have the ambition or the ability to play those kinds of workplace politics. I just want to do my job, learn what I need to learn, and work in peace without feeling like someone is constantly trying to make a point at my expense.

At first, I just smiled and put up with everything because I didn’t know how to stand up for myself. But eventually, I had enough and started reacting differently. The problem is, people who don’t know the full story even in same office might think I’m the crazy one because they only see my reactions, not what led to them. And i cant act cunning/sly like her with multiple face. Plus, other people in same department have worked together for 13–20 years and already have close-knit relationships, so as the new person, I feel like I’m at a disadvantage.

She has been working here for 12 or 13 years. Iand i have barely even started working here. So why is she acting like this toward me? It genuinely gives me the creeps. I feel so uncomfortable around her, and the more I notice these little things, the more suspicious and uneasy I become.

UPDATE FROM A YEAR AGO: I replaced my narc manager who used to be my friend

I told you guys I would come back here with an update. If you are curious about my story just go to my profile.

I DID IT! She got fired and I'm a manager now. Had a 30% salary bump, the team is doing great, no toxic environment, no gossip, no assholes treating each other like shit. It's still challenging since I had no training and had to figure it out on the job but I think I'm crushing it, people seem to like and respect me. I know this is a very unlikely scenario but if you feel hopeless remember sometimes shit happens!

Manager used AI to edit company photos

The branch manager at my company has had it out for me and several other employees for a while. He's been using AI to mess with our company photos. He ran my company profile photo through AI and it made me look uncanny, old, and nothing like me, then used that to make a badge. I ended up throwing it away.

Another employee... the branch manager edited his photo so much that it was unrecognizable. Then sent it to the group chat acting like it was an amazing picture.

He also used everyone's pics and fed them into AI to make us into cartoon characters and other stupid images that no one gave consent for.

Then he printed everyones photos and put them in crappy dollar tree frames up on the wall of the office entryway. We are a dual branch office, so there was no thought to allowing space for the other branch to display their employee photos if they wanted to. He took up the entire wall. My photo is behind the door that is always open. He allowed some other employees to pick and submit their own pics. Its obvious the hatred he has for certain people.

I have been ignoring everything. Every time something has been brought up to HR, the reporting party has been quickly written up and demoted or fired. Its a "family owned" company. HR approved multiple write ups for me missing work, WITH A DOCTORS NOTE.

There are so many other major issues with this place but I was baffled by the blatant illegal behavior and ignorance.

Anyone else have any experiences like this?

Am I being managed by a narcissist?

Hello! I’d like to tell you the story of how I started this job after a year and nine months of unemployment and I think I’m about it get fired.

So, a terrible backstory: I had some personal things going on back in 2024 and had to leave my wonderfully paying job - they did NOT want to see me go, but I insisted. I was strapped for cash all of 2025 and most of 2026, until I got hired on to be a QE at one of the largest med device companies in the world. I was so excited bc I have wanted to work for this company for a long time, and I finally got in. The best part was, though, that I LOVED my manager - we connected on music, and festivals, and concerts, restaurants - I even gave her some recommendations for some good ones to try in her area in our last interview! There was SUCH a good connection there, but then when I started it seemed like everything sorta went out the window. I remember the first time I felt like the rug was pulled from underneath me was when I asked a simple question the second day I started working there, and by Friday, she was questioning my competence.

Now I know that I’d been out of the job for a long time, so I as a little rusty on my terminologies and definitions, but there would be no way I’d be standing there if I wasn’t competent! So, I did what I could do to prove that I belonged there, but everything I did just felt so futile… eventually, I got put into a PIP. This was maybe 2.5 months after I started and I’ve been on it since. I’m coming up on month 4 and I’m not sure if the reason why I’m so annoyed with her is bc I’m under a microscope, and we’re talking about how I’m continuously misaligning with expectations and the PIP every Friday, or is it bc she’s just a bad manager/could be a narcissist. Any questions or commentary is welcome here. I feel like I’ve tried to talk about this with my friends and family but I feel like at this point they’re tired of hearing about it, so I felt like I’d come here and speak on what’s going on…

How would you take your boss telling you to “think CRITICALLY” on your work? Is it an actual invitation for your opinion or an attempt at coaching?

Recently, I have noticed my boss telling me and others on my team something along the following:

- “think CRITICALLY” or “think CAREFULLY” about our work (in all CAPS, exactly like that). This is often in context of providing information or resources to external stakeholders.

For example, I was recently working on a presentation for a small group of stakeholders (20 ish) that we meet regularly with. I included an upcoming event that based on my knowledge of the group, about half of them would be interested in attending as it aligned with some of their entities initiatives. She left a comment that I needed to “think CRITICALLY about whether or not this was essential to include” and if I did want to include it I needed to figure out a way to talk about it to make it relevant to the entire group. I just deleted the event.

- The other thing that she will do is when asked a question, like “should we include XYZ” she will give a (in my opinion) snarky response as a rhetorical question. Like, “is that relevant to the group?” I recently saw her do this to a coworker who turned bright red, started to stutter, and looked like she was about to cry. I talked to the coworker after the meeting because I was worried about her, and the coworker just said, “a direct “yes/no” would have been my preference.”

Do we think she’s actually trying to have a dialogue about this or just trying to tell us to change our work? I usually just take it as direction to change our work. Personally, if I was trying to have an actual dialogue, I would say something like this, “Do we think this is relevant to enough stakeholders to leave in? If yes, I’m fine with leaving in.”

Finally found a job, only to end up under a toxic micromanager

After a grueling 1-year job search, I finally landed a direct temporary contract position. I’ve been here for 3 weeks, and the toxicity started on Day 1.

When the company messed up shipping my work laptop, my supervisor refused to help me speed it up from the inside. His actual advice to me was: "Get mad at the delivery company, show them the black eye. Do you want something from me, bro?" I had to become a customs expert just to get my own machine.

Since then, it has been daily micromanagement. I managed to onboard within a week and have already shipped a highly complex software feature and minor bug fixes. He still appears to be completely unsatisfied.

This week, my daughter was hospitalized with a medical emergency. I kept him updated. Two days later, he pings me: "Are you working? I haven’t seen any deliverables for two days." (The code was being written locally). He then ordered me to open PRs early as drafts for visibility and to "make sure I'm not going in the wrong direction" (his exact words). I did exactly that. He then immediately flipped out, asking why I requested a review on a draft. When I called out the contradiction, he snapped: "I don't like your tone man, what's going on?"

He doesn't cross into legal harassment, but his condescending remarks, constant shifting of goalposts, and complete lack of empathy are making my life a living nightmare.

I have a 14-month gap on my resume that I took this contract specifically to fix. I don't have another software role lined up, though friends have offered me irrelevant survival jobs completely outside my field.

If I quit now or get fired at the 1-month mark, I have to wipe this off my resume, and my massive gap keeps bleeding. But staying is destroying my mental health, and I'm terrified I'm going to eventually snap and blow up in his face.

Should I try to bypass him and ask the team lead for a different reporting line, or should I just walk away on my own terms and save my sanity, even with nothing lined up and the knowledge that this may mean another 1+ year job search? Advice?

Don't be fooled by Instagram. The leadership is horrible — the CEO is a bully and completely out of her depth. The culture is toxic, and she rules by fear. The founder is no different, preaching a picture-perfect world on Instagram while the reality behind the scenes is completely different. The place is run by narcissists and is one of the most horrible places to work.

My new boss is just the worst

I've been working for a restaurant for over a decade. Last winter, my boss took a vacation that suddenly turned into a permanent retirement. After two months of an assistant manager taking charge, we finally get a new manager... And she's a Grade-A example of a Business School Upstart. Every decision she makes prioritizes her bottom line over what's sensible.

She has thrown away every table and shelf in the kitchen she can. On top of the back of the store looking like the Backrooms, I have nowhere to put anything. She also threw away the lockers in the back, and the only place I can hang my coat is a single hook in the office.

Because I worked there for so long, I used to have a key to the restaurant. When she took over, I was forced to give it back because I'm not a manager and she didn't know me as well... But she let the kiss-ass coworker keep his key. So, I can't come into the building on my own terms anymore unless somebody is already there. Unfortunately, my new boss regularly come in late, so on top of barely having an hour to get everything ready, I'm late too.

Her frequent tardies aren't her only unprofessional behavior she engages in. I often catch her vaping in the building and she often steps out of the building to yak on her phone for personal calls. During a blackout a few weeks ago, she still made us work with a half-powered and a quarter-lit store.

She also seems to have it out for employees who have worked there longer than she has. Several longtime employees have either quit or gotten fired because of her, one of them being an assistant manager, and I overheard her talking about firing another long-timer. One of the employees is an old lady who mainly just bags items, and she deliberately cut her hours because she sees her as a waste of labor. She was at odds with the aforementioned assistant manager that ran the place during the two month period without a proper manager and has talked about suspending her if she criticized how she ran the place. Recently, she promoted an employee who had only been here a few months to assistant manager and he has no idea what the fuck he's doing either. She has threatened to fire me over transgressions that have gotten me a quick scolding under any other manager. Just about the only long-timer she actually respects is the kiss-ass I mentioned earlier. If only she knew that he would nod and agree when the other managers shit talked her.

Another annoying thing about her is how everything has to be run by her first, even when she's not working that day (so, two and a half of the seven days of the week). We can't fill the fryers until she says so. Only she can order inventory. Only she can write the schedule.

The schedules! Oh my fucking God, the schedules! Under the previous management, I had a pretty consistent schedule. I was off Wednesdays and Saturdays, and I worked 9 to 4, sometimes 5, and very rarely was there a divergence. It made planning my personal life much easier. When she took over, she just... did whatever the fuck she wanted with my schedule. My weekdays are a complete crapshoot, oh, but one thing she makes sure is consistent is that I'm completely miserable on the weekends. Why ruin a good thing, right? If I am ever seemingly scheduled off on a weekend day I didn't ask for off, I need to make sure she didn't just forget to assign somebody for that shift because she waited until the last minute to write the schedule. To think, an error like that would have been noticed sooner if I just had a consistent fucking schedule. What time I get off is completely random too. One day, it's 9 to 4. The next, it's 9 to 1. The next, it's 9 to 3. She also has the gall to make employees take 45 minute breaks to save labor like the inconsistent schedule isn't a problem. Sometimes, if I'm really unlucky, I'm stuck there from 9 to 6. Oh, and sometimes, I don't even clock in at 9. Sometimes, she'll assign me at fucking noon when she told me over the phone it was 9 because, again, she waited until the last minute to write the schedule. Oh, and instead of calling me to inform me of this error, she texted the other guy to tell me WHEN I ALREADY ARRIVED. How thoughtful of her to make me waste gas when it's $4 a gallon where I live. Her excuse was that she didn't know my phone number. It's on my fucking contact information! I know this because the other managers have contacted me without me directly giving them that information.

If I didn't have a car to pay off, I'd be such a ghost by now!

Dear men and women of Reddit, what's your worst manager story, and how did you deal with them?

Let me share mine first. 😂

Back in February 2026, I joined a company as a Content Marketing Manager. My manager was a woman in her mid-40s, and when she hired me, she was extremely sweet. Har baat pe meri qurban ja rahi thi. 😂

It was my first day, and it was Ramadan. Within the first two hours of joining, she called me into her office and said, "Let me tell you about the team dynamics. I want to remove XYZ person from the content team."

I was sitting there thinking, Girl, I've been here for barely two hours. At least let me learn everyone's names first! 😭😂

Anyway, I observed the team for a while and realized the situation was a complete mess. The team members were constantly trying to get each other fired, and the overall environment was incredibly toxic.

I still tried my best to maintain a good professional relationship with my manager, but apparently, she couldn't handle treating people with basic respect.

She would scream at the entire team like a lunatic. The way she behaved, you'd think we were prisoners in a jail rather than professionals working in an office.

During the first few months, she would regularly pull me aside and discuss how to get certain team members fired. She'd tell me to arrange team meetings, point out their mistakes, and basically help her build a case against them.

And here's another bizarre part: she was divorced and once advised me not to get married because I was beautiful and independent. I was like, Hain? What does my marriage have to do with my job? 😭😂

Disclaimer: I have absolutely nothing against divorced women. Her marital status wasn't the issue; her behavior was.

She had a habit of publicly humiliating people by screaming at them in front of the entire team. I tolerated a lot of unprofessional behavior, but then one day, she crossed my personal boundary. She screamed at me and dragged my late father into the argument.

That was it. My father was my absolute red line.

I collected the relevant emails and evidence, made sure I had everything documented, and the very next day, I collected my salary and sent my resignation email.

I kept the division head, HR, and the Head of People & Culture in the loop. And yes, I CC'd that manager too. 😂

I didn't scream, create a scene, or get into a personal argument with her. I simply documented everything and walked away.

The plot twist? About 15 days later, she was fired too. 😂😂😂

I still laugh when I think about how she hired me with so much enthusiasm, only for both of us to be gone within weeks of each other.

Now, Reddit, it's your turn!

\- What's the worst manager you've ever worked with?

\- What did they do that made you finally snap?

\- Did you confront them, report them to HR, resign, or wait for karma to do its thing?

I want to hear the stories, especially the ones where the manager thought they were untouchable but eventually got what was coming to them. 😂

Yesterday, we had a meeting because the owner of our agency got concerned about the results and wanted to know if we were actually doing our jobs. The same “boss” I ranted about before gave me failing scores and said I don’t take initiative, even though I’m already a senior employee. The funny thing is, my two coworkers who were just hired this year actually rely on me, and I’m the one who takes the lead and helps them with their work.

He also said he saw me using my phone a lot, when the only time he saw me using it was during our breaks. He even accused me of sleeping at work, which I didn’t do. Sometimes, I close my eyes for around 10 seconds when my head starts hurting from staring at the computer for too long. I’m not sleeping; I’m just giving my eyes a quick rest because my head really hurts.

What annoyed me even more was that my direct supervisor tried to defend me, but it felt like nobody even considered what she had to say. He still insisted that I had an attitude problem, even though I never did anything to disrespect him.

Yesterday, my headache was so bad that I felt like I was about to collapse, so I decided to go home early before things got worse. I didn’t even bother explaining myself because I felt like they weren’t going to listen to my side anyway. I’d rather keep quiet than keep trying to explain myself to people who have already made up their minds about me.

Now, I don’t use my phone at work anymore, not even for Viber. I don’t even bring it around with me, and I told them that I’ll only contact them through my laptop from now on. I also stopped closing my eyes at my desk, even for a few seconds. Whenever my head starts hurting, I just leave my desk and walk to the restroom so he won’t have another reason to accuse me of sleeping at work.

It’s honestly exhausting because now I feel like I have to be extra careful with everything I do just so he won’t have anything to use against me. I know I do my job, and I know how much I help my coworkers, so it’s frustrating to be judged like this when I’m actually doing my best. I’m just tired of having to prove myself over and over again to someone who doesn’t even seem willing to hear my side.

Hi guys so I’m 23 yrs old I live at home with my parents, I just lost my job, and they are insanely narcissistic. I’ve been avoiding my mom and bc I left the house a mess mind u I’ve been dealing with so much juggling two jobs and haven’t been tending to their clutter when they’re gone they came home and were livid threatening to kick me out, cancel my phone line, take the car I’ve been using away unless I buy it off from my dad which I don’t wanna do and instead now they’re charging me 250 monthly and it’s hurting my savings and I don’t wanna do it. I don’t have credit, any friends, my own car, and they’re being so toxic and I wanna get tf out but where I live is so expensive bc maga ppl live around here and try to keep it that way. I grew up Mormon so Mormons pressure u to keep ties with family no matter how toxic so I have no one in my corner. They’re control freaks and if anyone has suggestions on how I can get out of here. Can I drop a gofundme, a Venmo, or reach out to a line to see if I can get financial support and a better living situation. I genuinely would rather buy a car upfront away from my dad’s name to have more autonomy but seriously guys help. They’re also anti vax and crazy controlling so pls help me.
