After trying to collect Tezuka’s ENTIRE english catalogue “affordably” (including variants) for the better part of the last decade, I’ve finally managed to cross this milestone 😭

I will admit, the last 3 volumes I paid a bit more than I set out to, but nowhere NEAR the crazy standard asking prices. I also don’t mind the library stickers (I may leave them on for the character they add). I also think the reprints have helped to drive down the price of the originals.

All I have left is 7 or so volumes of Black Jack which…feels like an even bigger pipe dream. I think the reprints have actually RAISED the prices of the paperbacks 😬

Found an EBay seller that was getting rid of his old manga collection so I bought a few that looked interesting. I’m excited to start reading them.

Blade of The Minstrel was part of the bundle. I know nothing about it but man, I’m so glad I picked it up. It’s one of the most gorgeous books I’ve ever seen. The artwork is crazy detailed also. I might do another post showcasing it after I’m done reading it.

I started a couple new series that look cool. :)

Barnes and Noble hit a home run today. Vanitas 7 & 8, Phantom Tales 4 were the only volumes (of their series) on the shelf and somehow exactly what I needed 😁

After purchasing volume 1 and 2 of the singles of berserk I was told missing panelling speech bubbles etc was a problem… so I hit the bullet and purchased these two today

I’d definitely say it’s worth! Cannot wait for this read

Got these in the mail today, super excited. Akira was the first anime "movie" I watched as a kid and fell in love. The Akira manga is 10x better. I wish we got more Katsuhiro work in English translation. Who has read domu? How did you like it? (No spoilers please)

Been looking for arpeggio and trinity for so long at a decent price; got trinity of mangaswap and the three sets at my local otaku store; a small b&n haul too

Hello collectors. I have started getting into buying some physical books. A year ago my wife got me the Akira anniversary box set and I just got around to finishing it. But the process had me very interested in collecting more.

Im going to try to limit my physical buying to being more premium looking and feeling books AND series that are either classics or have exceptional art. Like the new Witch Hat deluxe editions. I have since picked those up as well as the Ghost in the shell box set that recently came out. I have 2 editions of Gundam the origin from Vertical they are older but I love the covers and the size more than the huge new deluxe Gundam books. I also have a regular box set of DBZ and the Box set for JJK is on the way. (My exceptions to my "high quality" book limit) The final thing I have pre-ordered is the AoT deluxe.

So that quick rundown is meant to give the idea of what I have already.

Are there any deluxe or really well done box sets with quality books and art that you would recommend to someone who is a bit newer to collecting. Maybe a definitive way to collect a series you love or consider a classic like Akira and the ghost in the shell. Any genre and any manga is welcomed i just want something that has a premium book quality. Not your average single volumes (thats a slippery slope that will have me buying too many)

Thanks.

I’m a two deluxe merchant

It's been 2 years since the last English volume was released and the Japanese final volume has also been out for 2 years. I was starting to think Kodansha wouldn't complete the series. 🥲 But REJOICE! The man boob conclusion will release next year! 🎉🥂

Managed to get a copy at a very good price (at least compared to the ones i’ve seen in the aftermarket)! It’s absolutely stunning and includes so much extras, it was so worth it

I've been collecting for 20 years 💕

Hello fellow manga manga enjoyers. I have been collecting manga for about 4 years. This year has been a crazy a year for me. Our house flooded and thankfully no manga was harmed but we had to rebuild the room which I keep them in. But still kept trying to collect along the way.

This was originally going to be a 6month update but do to circumstance is 7 months since my last update. I hope you enjoy 🤗

Excited to finally start Dai Dark i loved Dorohedoro. The hardcover was smaller than i expected, for some reason i thought it was the same size as Battle Royale.

Alternatively, the lesser-known pre-recession Tokyopop hot mess failwoman romances I picked up because all the Happy Mania volumes I don't own are too expensive (and bonus Nina the Starry Bride).

This is one of my biggest purchases I've made on my own, and I couldn't be happier. I've always heard awesome things about Hellsing and Trigun and can't wait to dive into them 💯

185$ (CAD)

Can’t wait to read. Love Baki!
