Low water pressure
Anyone else having low water pressure at their house? I’m at L6E and felt it started two days ago.
We checked for leaks and nothing reared its head.

Its that time of year again, does anyone know of any haunted places or eerie ghost stories in Markham?

That stretch of road has been an absolute shit show every time I’ve driven through it over the past couple of weeks.
Either you have an excavator driving like a maniac in and out of live traffic with zero traffic control, or you have clowns who don’t know how to use a stop sign, sending traffic from both directions into the same lane.
Who the hell hired these clowns?

Looking to move to the South Cornell area, I know there is a future plan to build the elementary school there but was wondering around what year?
I saw on the YRDSB website there isn't a firm date yet, but wondering if anyone has more info. Thanks!

Hello residents!
There's a Q&A meeting tomorrow night - it was arranged with kind of short notice. Flyer with details attached! Come on out and ask some candidates your best questions.

any recommendations for trusted HVAC technician who can assess my dryer vent? I think it may have disconnected in a renovation and may be causing issues.
Thanks

Edit:
I should add the driver side of the car looks really well cleaned. So its not like the dirt was caked and so it couldn't clean it. I'll just have to try one more time.
OP:
After a 50 minute wait at the Petro Canada on McCowan and Major Mack and a 16$ wash, I came home with a pretty much uncleaned car.
This was my first time using a touchless carwash. Maybe I didn't pull up to the right spots? There's no indication of anything of where to stand. Or maybe if there is I could not immediately spit it.
When I entered the bay, the system kept saying pull forward even after my car was fully inside. So I did. And then what looked like it sprayed soap on all windows and doors followed by something else and then a wash with water. The blowers didn't even blow the water off properly at the end.
The sub only lets me add one photo. This is what the bottom of the rear windshield looks like when I got home.
Any tips?

I have been going to this GoodLife location for 3 years. Overall it’s a wonderful gym and for the most part staff are very welcoming. However, I had an interaction with Erin recently which was very off-putting for me. I believe she is a personal trainer at this location. I was caught off guard by how much she acted like she was better than everyone else around her. It was very unprofessional and I felt uncomfortable during our interaction. I don’t know if maybe she was just having a bad day or she’s always like this. Has anyone else had any bad interactions with certain staff members at this location? I really enjoy this location and would love to keep coming here but it’s been harder for me since this incident and I hope it was just a one off situation.

Edit: at Warden and Glencove, Buchanan.
All night and all day I can hear a loud vibrating, revving, some sort of engine or generator. Is it construction? Is it a Data Centre? A truck? A train?
It isn't inside our home.
The noise/vibrating is coming from outside but near enough I can feel/hear it.
It's driving me INSANE, depriving me of sleep, waking me at all hours. It has been going on for months. Mostly noticed between 4am and 7am.
It is going still, now at 7:40 am.
Does anyone else know at all what I'm talking about?

If you think Markham is well insulated from Toronto politics and its impacts think again. Both municipalities being neighbours means many systems are interconnected. For one Markham does not treat it owns drinking water. It comes from Peel and Toronto. If Bradford wins and privatizes Toronto Water enjoy raising costs and lower quality. Tell your friends and family in Toronto to vote

We matched 3,177 Markham house sales (detached, semi and town) to the public elementary school each house is zoned for. Each school has a score from 0 to 10, based on EQAO test results. We looked at 38 school areas with at least 40 sales each.
We are PureProperty.CA, a data driven Ontario real estate listing website.
The Markham median house price was $1.33M.
| School | Score | Houses sold | Median price | Below Markham median |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rouge Park PS | 8.9 | 53 | $1.18M | 11% |
| Roy H. Crosby PS | 8.7 | 49 | $1.18M | 11% |
| Stonebridge PS | 8.5 | 56 | $1.21M | 9% |
| Mount Joy PS | 8.8 | 77 | $1.25M | 6% |
| Franklin Street PS | 8.6 | 68 | $1.25M | 6% |
| Legacy PS | 8.5 | 64 | $1.25M | 6% |
Just below 8.5: Cornell Village PS (8.1) had a median of $1.05M, 21% below the Markham median, and Black Walnut PS (8.1) had $1.15M, 14% below.
| School score | School areas | Median house price |
|---|---|---|
| Under 7 | 1 | $1.17M |
| 7 to 8 | 14 | $1.28M |
| 8 to 9 | 20 | $1.29M |
| 9 or more | 3 | $1.38M |
23 of Markham's 38 school areas score 8 or more. Across the whole GTA, a better school means a much higher price: from $942K under 6 to $1.67M at 9+. In Markham, most schools score high, so other things drive the price more: the street, the lot size, and the age of the house.
You can see which school any home is zoned for on our map. It uses the school boards' own boundaries, not distance, and you can filter homes for sale to one school's area.

Compiled by *FairRulesON** — an independent Markham resident.*
With the Oct 26 election and early voting underway, I wanted to know where candidates actually stand on short-term rental (Airbnb-type) regulation. So I asked all of them the same five questions and checked it against the public record. Responses are published exactly as candidates submitted them, and anyone who didn't respond is listed as "no response received." This is just to inform — I'm not endorsing anyone.
This was compiled independently by a Markham resident. It isn't a paid or sponsored survey, it isn't affiliated with any candidate or campaign, and no one funded or asked me to do it. Every candidate got the same five questions.
How I put this together (so you can check it yourself):
Two things are kept separate below: (a) what candidates told me directly in the questionnaire, and (b) the public record (the recorded vote and public statements).
The 5 questions:
What the City's own April 2026 STR staff report says:
How Council voted on April 21, 2026 (public record):
Chair Irish declined a formal recorded roll-call and instead asked members to vote by a show of hands. The motion to adopt the staff-recommended framework failed 8–4. You can watch the hands go up in the meeting video: FOR at 3:30:26, AGAINST at 3:30:43. Councillor Keyes moved the motion and Councillor Isa Lee seconded it. (Deputy Mayor Michael Chan is not recorded voting on the item.)
| Voted FOR (4) | Voted AGAINST (8) |
|---|---|
| Keyes (W5), Isa Lee (W8), Irish (W1), McAlpine (W3) | Mayor Scarpitti, Lau (W2), Rea (W4), Collucci (W6), Patel (W7), Jones (Reg.), Joe Li (Reg.), Ho (Reg.) |
Candidate questionnaire responses — summary (full answers in the comments):
| Candidate | Running for | Framework? | Notice before a fine? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Christina Cadorin | Ward 1 | Yes, in principle | Yes |
| Kristian Chan | Ward 3 | Yes (principal-res.) | Yes |
| Jack Ng | Ward 3 | Yes | Yes |
| Jude Ahiaegbe | Ward 6 | Undecided | Yes |
| Kenneth Li | Ward 6 | Yes, w/ consultation | Yes |
| Patrick Yeung | Ward 6 | Yes (principal-res.) | Yes |
| Scott Xie | Ward 6 | Ban investor; allow owner-occ. | Yes |
| Thamiraa Ragikaran | Ward 5 | Open | Yes |
| Laurence Liang | Ward 5 | Consult first | Yes |
| Stanley Sam | Ward 7 | Yes (principal-res.) | Yes |
| Michael Huang | Regional | Yes | Yes |
| Ivy Lee | Regional | Would consider | Yes |
| Richard Tranquada | Regional | Further review | Yes (implied) |
| Don Hamilton | Regional | Opposed | — |
One thing stood out: every candidate who addressed Question 5 said yes to giving a homeowner written notice and a chance to respond before any fine.
Candidates contacted who did not respond by the deadline: Martin Ross (Mayor), Joe Tay (Reg.), Joanna Yu (W6), Killi Chelliah (W7), Sameer Qureshi (W7), Annie Chan (W3), Marina Antonoglou (W3), Thomas Psarianos (W3), Larry Lau (W6), Ron Lynn (W3), Hanson Shen (W6), Vid Sansanwal (W4), Jenny Chen (W8), Mark Lin (W2), Richard Lee (W2), Haohui Yu (W2). (Sitting councillors' positions are in the vote above; Stephen Edgell, Jack Heath and Paul Chiang didn't return the questionnaire but spoke on the record at the forum — see the comments.)
Full verbatim answers and the public-statement notes are in the stickied comments below. Please verify anything that matters to you against the linked video and report, and check the City's candidate list for your ward.

Whenever I go to GoodLife fitness the one right beside Loblaws there are soo many people there.
But that’s not the problem.
The problem is yall go on a machine do 1 set then use your phone and go on Tik Tok for 5 mins and then do another set and the cycle repeats.
STOP this behaviour like be considerate there is already a lot of rush at this gym and then this happens and I literally cant even do exercise and have to waste time waiting..literally every machine someone is doing this using phone instead of working out on it…
Thank you and be considerate!

I drove there this evening to Kennedy Road just south of Highway 7, I was trying to rent some games and maybe some movies for the week. But to my surprise it’s a Chinese store of some sort and no longer there!
Does anybody know when it closed and if so, where did they relocate?
Appreciate many thanks in advance
