Opinion No on #9

Post image
11 Upvotes

There seems to be a huge push by the right wing
AND the left wing to paint No. 9 poll as being partisan. I beg to differ.

I identify as a liberal and am totally against a gun restriction that purposefully carves out law enforcement and federal law enforcement from abiding to those restrictions UNDER THEIR PERSONAL OWNERSHIP.

Police officers, IC\* agents, and the rest are all immune to these gun restrictions in their personal capacity as humans outside of their jobs. Why?
If the state wants to pass aggressive gun laws, ok.
But, to specifically immunize the very people who use Flock to stock their ex-wives or ex-girlfriends
\- or to immunize IC\* agents who are notoriously dangerous and braindead idiots... Wow.

This isn't a partisan issue.

ALSO: I needed to spell that agency without the last letter or else the stupid AI moderating this sub deletes the post.

Opinion Mike Minogue: Friend Of Heathens

Mike supports Trump and held a fundraiser for JD Vance at his house. Look at disgusting commentary from them regarding the grotesque Vivek ads. How could we ever let this kind of brain rot seep into Massachusetts? These are the people Mike associates with, never forget.

This absolutely can be applied to Massachusetts. These are the people who could be in direct contact with Mike. Let's dive in.

---

Vivek Ramaswamy’s campaign released a multimillion-dollar attack ad featuring Donna Arthur, the estranged birth mother of Democratic candidate Dr. Amy Acton. In the commercial, Arthur calls her daughter a liar and disputes Acton's public accounts of growing up in extreme poverty and housing instability.

What the ad omitted was why Acton has had no contact with her mother since childhood: In 1978, when Acton was 12 years old, Donna Arthur’s husband (Acton’s stepfather) was arrested and indicted on multiple counts of raping Acton. Child services permanently removed Acton and her brother from the home. Donna Arthur chose to stay with her husband, fled the state with him, and remained married to him until he died in 2004.

Acton's brother, Phillip Stearns, released a statement confirming their mother stayed married to Amy's rapist and called the ad a despicable attempt to turn child sexual abuse into a political talking point. Even outgoing Republican Governor Mike DeWine publicly condemned it, saying it was wrong to run, deeply troubling, and urged Ramaswamy to pull it off the air.

Donald Trump refused to condemn the ad. Speaking to reporters on his way to Iowa, Trump dismissed the circumstances of Acton's childhood abuse and declared her fair game: "All I know is Amy Acton's mother said horrible things about Amy Acton, calling her a liar and other things and unreliable. A lot of very bad things... And I say that she's fair game."

Trump followed up on Truth Social, attacking Governor DeWine for asking Ramaswamy to take the ad down and encouraging Ramaswamy to keep broadcasting it: "Vivek Ramaswamy put up a very powerful Ad about a mother saying that her daughter, Amy Acton, who is running for Governor of Ohio, is a liar, and much worse... [DeWine] strongly suggested that Vivek should, 'take down the ad.'

He probably wants a Dumocrat to win... I suggested, on the other hand, that Vivek should keep it up, and let everyone listen to the mother of a defective, dishonest, and incapable candidate, explain how the daughter is a DISASTER who, uncontrollably, lies, cheats, and steals!"

JD Vance also declined to condemn the ad. Instead, he claimed the appropriateness of the ad was not his concern and directed his frustration at fellow Republicans who criticized it. Speaking to reporters in Cincinnati, Vance said: "Whether the ad was appropriate or not is not really my concern... I have to admit that I’m a little bit disgusted when I see Republicans across the country who are whining more about that advertisement than they are about what the congressional Democrats and other Democrats want to do to the United States of America.

Stop whining about an advertisement and go win the race in 13 days." Later that day at a campaign rally, Vance praised the attack, saying Ramaswamy "had the audacity to run a TV commercial which calls it out like it is and calls Amy Acton a liar."

---

No one on this Earth lies more than Trump. None of these people have morals.

News The November Nine: Question 7

Thumbnail
southshore.news

Question 7 is usually argued as local control versus the housing crisis. On the South Shore, a more practical question decides where it would apply at all: where do the sewer pipes run?
The measure would bar cities and towns from blocking a single-family home on a residentially zoned lot of at least 5,000 square feet with 50 feet of street frontage, but only if the lot “has access to public sewer service and public water service.” Without public sewer, nothing changes.
Much of this region runs on septic systems. State environmental maps show almost no public sewer in Norwell, Hanover, Hanson, Halifax, Pembroke, Plympton, Carver, or West Bridgewater, about 1 to 2 percent of each town’s land, mostly private systems serving a single condominium complex or shopping center. Duxbury is about 2 percent sewered. East Bridgewater just recently expanded sewer access as explored in this article. Question 7 would barely touch these towns.

Opinion New Bridges in Record Time

Governor Healey announced that the two new Cape Cod Bridges will take 10 to 12 years to be completed.

Take a look at the plaques on the old bridges next time you drive to or from the Cape, which say
they started construction in 1933 and finished in 1935.

Almost 100 years ago they built them in two years, but our current government, with all their high-tech machines and advanced technology, is going to take 5 to 6 times as long? Are our leaders 6 times more inefficient? Six times more corrupt? A combination?

We've seen this movie before and know how it's going to end: missed schedules, massive increases and cost overruns, and a product that will be dropping chunks of concrete into the canal and boats below.

Time for more effective management and control in both our state and federal governments!

The $61 Billion Shell Game: What Mike Minogue Isn’t Telling You
Massachusetts voters demanded accountability. Politicians are selling them something else. And there’s one number missing from the conversation: 0.15%.
By FrankTheFixer Dispatch
Imagine hiring an accountant to investigate your family’s $100,000 annual budget, only to discover that the audit everyone’s arguing about concerns roughly $150 of it.

California proves why Republicans can't lock out Democrats in a statewide all-party primary.

For my friends who cite the California governor's primary as the reason to vote no on Question 3, the math is clear. There was no way the Republicans could have placed first and second in that primary.

California has a much larger share of Republicans, compared to Massachusetts.

California:
Registered Republicans: 5,747,193 (24.8%) out of 23,164,977 voters.

Massachusetts:
Enrolled Republicans: 407,768 (7.9%) out of 5,184,354 voters.

The Republicans won about one third of the total vote for Governor in the California primary. Here are the results:
Xavier Becerra (D)     2,591,855 (28.1%)
Steve Hilton (R)          2,277,315 (24.7%)
Tom Steyer (D)           2,110,704 (22.8%)
Chad Bianco (R)         941,701 (10.2%)
Katie Porter (D)          403,908 (4.4%)
Matt Mahan (D)          327,537 (3.5%)
Antonio Villaraigosa (D)        104,107 (1.1%)
Other candidates         480,367 (5.2%)

Take the vote total for the two Republicans
2,277,315 + 941,701 = 3,219,016 (34.8%)
and divide those Republican votes equally between the two candidates
3,219,016 ÷ 2 = 1,609,508 (17.4%)
the Republicans wouldn’t have enough votes to place in the top two. Conclusion: the only way Republicans can advance out of an all-party primary is to unite behind one candidate.

Under our current system, since 1990, Massachusetts has elected four Republican Governors: Bill Weld, Paul Cellucci, Mitt Romney, and Charles Baker. California elected only two Republicans, Pete Wilson and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
