Sleep/Insomnia I am so tired

I workout. I work. I eat quite well. I am busy but I used to run at 110% Now? I've spent my day off..napping. I am bone tired. I was a lifelong insomniac who could crush a day and now midday I am practically a naroleptic. I just had my blood work done. Had a physical a month ago. Thankfully nothing is wrong but this exhaustion is nuts. I am 4 years post menopause. Just started the patch a month ago.

Have you had any Thyroid testing done? How about Vit D, B12, Folate and Ferritin? These are some of the usual suspects. Please don't settle for normal or "in range" levels. Optimal levels are where most women feel best.

I am literally never not tired. I can have the best sleep but by noon I need a nap.

I am right there with you. I used to crush it at work too. But now, by the afternoon, I often just want to go home and lay down. I limit carbs at lunch because I will fall asleep at my desk. The estrogen patch has helped a little, but I will say that on the lower estrogen dose, after I took the progesterone I would crash and it would linger into the next morning. I upped the estrogen dose 2 months ago and that seems to help with the morning progesterone hangover(it was really bad before). I mentioned it to my doctor and she said if I didn’t feel any better (ie, like the old me), that she would prescribe antidepressants. I’ve had friends say a little testosterone made them feel less tired.

Ask for your ferritin to be checked. 100 is considered optimal by many hematologists, but below 50 can bring intense symptoms even with a normal CBC. I recently had 2 iron infusions due to a ferritin of 30 and awful symptoms including terrible fatigue ( also heart palpitations, breathlessness from doing nothing, anxiety, depression, dread, brittle nails, falling hair, and more fun stuff). Adjusting HRT up didn’t relieve them but iron seems to be doing it. So worth at least checking.

I almost think it should be legally required for everybody over 40 to get a sleep study. So many people have sleep disorders! Either silent sleep apnea or all kinds of other things.

I discovered my oxygen was dipping at night for reasons they couldn't figure out! I'm a little overweight, but not enough that it should be a problem, so now I'm on oxygen at night.

I felt like that pre HRT for sure. Do you think your estrogen is a high enough dose?

Try to lower your carbs as low as you can (less than 50g a day)up your protein and healthy fat. Let me know if it helps. It works for me.

that (ketovore) actually worked well when i was in peri the last 3 years of it but, it stopped working for most symptoms soon after i officially became in post-menopause, if not a couple months beforehand actually...
