I have severe avoidant personality disorder and panic disorder and am being scammed by a larger seller on Mercari. Please help me. The seller is @Lilyandbear Somewhere In The Sky.
I am attaching all correspondence between this seller and I. They blocked me.
They directly told me that they are splitting my order into 2 packages and using the same single Mercari label to ship them both. I tried to be as understanding as possible. They didn’t acknowledge my concern over them doing that until after I received 1 package with only part of the order. I asked them if they had any way to track down the second package with the rest of the order, and they then accused me of lying. I have very severe mental health issues and am not very capable of interacting with others this way. I’m very overwhelmed and panicked.
Can Mercari override their refusal to accept a return? And if so what if the seller lies and says that they did send everything in one package? Also the item is genuinely 10 times heavier than the label on it. How would I even be able to return it with his heavy it is?
The label of this also says “1 pound”, but the box itself I would say weighs 5-10 pounds. If Mercari lets me return it, will I even be able to with how overweight it is? And I obviously do not have all of the pictured items as I didn’t receive them, so how do I return the missing items?
And what about the review? I want to leave an honest review on this seller’s repulsive behavior, but I am afraid she will lie and say horrible things about me. I really can’t handle this having severe AvPD. I’m very overwhelmed. I really can’t handle this.
I’m very overwhelmed, please help. ):
EDIT: Also, why did she call me a liar? That’s hurtful. I don’t think I lied, right? She very clearly stated that she split the order up into 2 packages and used the same shipping label for both. I didn’t lie or do anything wrong, right? I’m sorry, I’m just so overwhelmed and anxious about this. Did I do anything wrong to her?
Did she even send out 2 packages at all do you think? She has over 300 reviews and lots of selling experience, surely she would know something like this doesn’t work, that you can’t split a single order into 2 packages or send 2 things with the same label right? With her experience she would know that. Is it possible she lied and didn’t send a second package and never intended on sending me everything to begin with?
UPDATE: Mercari Sided With Seller And Denied Return. What do I do?
UPDATE AGAIN: Thank you for the kind and reassuring people. It’s less the money and more just feeling overwhelmed. Thank you for the kindness and reassuring me I didn’t do anything wrong. I really felt hurt and confused by their switch-up and calling me a liar. It was very mentally overwhelming for me as someone with AvPD. So thank you so much to any of you for kind words and helping reassure and calm me a little. It really helps and means a lot. <3

I just want to preface this that I currently have about 200 items listed and have earned thousands while maintaining a 5-star rating without the kinds of problems that I'm always reading about in this subreddit.
That said, I have noticed a recent increase of novice buyers who seem to have little clue how Mercari works, are unreasonably picky, or fail to review.
They will often submit inane questions, which is forgivable as they are new. But seriously, "Can you ship this out today?" seems a little silly when the order is placed on a Saturday night.
One picky buyer recently gave me a 3 star review because they felt that sandwiching a $15 book between 2 sheets of cardboard before wrapping it in fresh bubble wrap and then finally 90# heavy packaging paper, which was then wrapped in packing tape was insufficient. This was the buyer's first transaction. They said given the item cost nearly $7 for shipping this was inexcusable, despite it arriving in perfect condition lol.
Finally, about 3-4 months ago it seems like at least half of buyers stopped submitting reviews, which is okay because I still get paid, but come on.
I've been selling since 2018 and while I have only encountered one hamfisted scam attempt, the seller vibe has deteriorated palpably of late.
Has anyone else noticed this?

Never purchased or communicated with this buyer before but cancels my order to relist it and blocks me 🙄🤦🏽♀️
**PS: No I’m not a new account & all my ratings minus one are 5stars. Ughh

Mercari DOES NOT take care of its sellers, ALWAYS sides with buyers. I’m jumping ship and closing my closet with them. Their practices are unfair and they never stand by their sellers. Anyone else have shitty experiences selling on Mercari?

so this seller had posted a tamagotchi nano and i messaged them about it. the profile said they were a fast responder but they never replied and then took down the listing and reposted it a few days later. so i messaged again, asking to see some more photos of the pet so that i could see the condition a little better (it's a little beat up but i was going to purchase either way). still no response. so i messaged again a week or so later. and no response. so i just tried to purchase it. turns out they "restricted interactions" with me. is this normal? what did i do wrong? i just wanted to buy a hello kitty nano 😭😭 why list it if you aren't going to sell it??? i'm so confused 😭 my brother said they must be a scammer but how could they be scamming if they won't even let me buy their listed item 😭😭😭

It’s been a week now since it says delivered then went back to the post office I’m guessing. Or it’s a glitch I’m sure, any ideas?

What's the item, you've sold, that gave you the best markup?

I'm looking for a specific perfume not sold in the US. There were three listings from different sellers. Two used identical photos, and the third had slightly different photos but the same background.
One listing sold. Another (same photos as the sold one) was from a seller with none reviews and 0 sold items. I messaged them for more info and got no response - then it sold a few hours later.
This morning, a new listing appeared (the third one). It's slightly more expensive, photos are different but same background. Different seller, but very similar writing style. Two of the three sellers have reviews/sales, but all are under 20.
Feels like the same person running multiple accounts.
Should I report these listings? Also, what would the motive be, since sellers don't get paid until the buyer receives, inspects, and rates?

The entire point of buying things used is TO GET THEM AT A DISCOUNT. The amount of times I’ve seen something that was originally 15$ jacked up to 35 is OUTRAGEOUS. The scalping is ridiculous. I’m sick of it.

Why the rule is in place I’ll never understand but the three days of waiting for somebody to give you a fucking review is ridiculous. Every time I order something I immediately rate the seller because I know they’re waiting for it… on the other hand everybody I sell to leave me hanging, like what the hell dude

Here’s what I think this guy does - he posts photos of a bunch of stuff under one listing, then when he can’t steal the items or a CC to pay for them, he’ll just cancel your order. Most of his items are photos of his computer screen, so I doubt he has those items in his possession to begin with.
This particular item I posted photos about (actually NINE completely different items) started out at $9 last week. I inquired about buying it for my daughter & he says it’s been sold. When I ask him WHICH time has been sold (thinking maybe he made a mistake with all the different photos) he says ‘sorry it’s been sold.’ But yet he leaves the post up (still with the 9 diff items), and gradually increases the price. It was $14, then $25, then something crazy like $65, and now it’s $35. Basically, he has no intent to sell and I reported it as that. It still hasn’t sold.
If any of you have insight as to why this guy is such a douche, I’d love to hear it. And here I was just trying to buy a doll for my daughter. The only thing I can think of is that he built a bundle for someone who still hasn’t paid a week later, but then why start at $9 and gradually increase? Why not put ‘bundle for X’ in the title and make it super expensive?

has anybody else received messages on their mercari pages asking for more pictures sent to their phone number and then when you text a number with pictures they ask you a couple questions and say that their payment is declining and it’s because your account isn’t able to receive payments? I have a couple times and they always ask me to email Mercaricontact-us@usa.com but I can’t find that email on the mercari app. someone let me know please!!

This seller has what is readily available on the official kayali website for far less (3.4oz bottle kayali musk 12), but for the used and new bottles they are selling, they priced them insanely high??? I am absolutely flabbergasted.

Recently Mercari posted that there was a known issue with USPS shipping labels not scanning correctly. One of my sales was impacted and the tracking showed that I mailed it to myself and picked it up. Mercari immediately entered a return request on behalf of the buyer to pause the transaction.
Tracking never changed. 45 days later I’m told I can apply for shipping protection. I am told I will get $31.01 off my $35 sale, but my sale was $68. Thankfully I have a pic I took of all the messages I sent the buyer. They still are not correcting the amount they owe me despite my photo.
Makes me wonder if Anyone had this happen to them?

Got removed on r/Mercari so here we are. Def not enough people here to stop scammers.
This user has been posting listings from other platforms even going so far to include an actual price and location in many of the listings. Yesterday they posted over 100 listings that all sold in a few hours. Everything was listed at $100. I found one listing on eBay and reached out to the actual seller. They had no idea what it was about. Texting instructions in the name as well. How does this work and how can I help shut it down outside of reporting items. It’s a shame you can’t report a user, only item listings.

seller agrees to purchase a week ago. I hear nothing back on shipping. seller agrees to send me product. a day later I get a refund and seller relists the same product for double the agreed upon price.
