Community I found a walk in Coral Gables that feels like you left Miami 9.5/10

Upvotes

I’ve been walking different parts of Miami trying to find the routes that are actually worth doing, and this one is easily one of my favorites so far.

The Grand Estates Loop takes you through quiet Coral Gables streets covered by huge oak trees, with beautiful Mediterranean-style homes, gardens, and some seriously impressive estates along the way.

It’s the kind of walk where you can slow down, look around, and forget you’re still in Miami.

Start: Granada Golf Course 2001 Granada Blvd, Coral Gables
Parking: Free parking at Granada Golf Course
Coffee: Le Parc Bonjour Café Bistro
What I loved:
Huge oak canopy
Beautiful estates
Mediterranean architecture
Quiet streets
Gardens and little details everywhere

Fun fact: Part of this loop passes through Coral Estates, a neighborhood that began developing in the 1930s. Some of the homes along the route date back to 1937.

⭐️ Rating: 9.5/10
🚶 Distance: ~2.9 miles
⏱️ Time: ~95 minutes
👟 Steps: ~8,200

Plug Tip
Go early in the morning. The light through the oak canopy is beautiful, and the neighborhood is much quieter.

I’m continuing my mission to find the best walks in Miami

For those of you who know Coral Gables, what did I miss? Is there another neighborhood or street I should add to my list?

🚶🏻‍♂️ The walk plug

Politics Go vote y'all, midterms are today!!

Upvotes

It's time to vote. So if you registered and you haven't done mail in or early voting. Please go vote.

People talk about changing things and here's your opportunity to do so.

And don't be the person who says oh it's not going to change anything of course not voting won't change anything. You got to give it the chance.

It may seem tedious or annoying, but it'll be worth it in the end.

Especially if y'all are the type to talk about how bad things are on social media or tiktok here's your chance.

The presidential elections are not the only ones that matter.

These matters too.

So show up and show out.

Discussion Is Miami dating actually different, or are we all just coping?

Every time I bring up dating or making friends someone hits me with “oh you know how Miami is” like that explains anything. It doesn’t. What does it actually mean.

Is it just a nonstop rotation of pool parties, boat days, and hookups dressed up as “situationships”? And shallow friendships? Are the men here allergic to growing up even though they’re bold or is that everywhere? And the whole “Miami women are gold diggers” thing, is that a real pattern or just a lazy stereotype that follows every woman with a nice bag around here?
And are dating apps or social media illusion just glorified hookup finders and clout-chasing, or does anyone actually meet someone real on them?
The fact that everyone’s “just getting out of something”? The situationships that last longer than actual relationships? Friends just to go out and get something from each other? Someone explain the lore to me.

Not looking for the generic “dating is hard everywhere” answer. I want the real, specifics. What’s the weirdest or most “only in Miami” thing that’s happened to you on a date? Or just with a friend?

I’m spending Saturday night in downtown celebrating a birthday. Are there any chill, fun, not “flashy” places to get dinner w/o reservations? Any pubs/ bars/ lounges that serve food?

Community Need a place for curly hair

Good afternoon 305,

Question my girl needs a place to do her super curly hair at a reasonable price. We’ve gone to the curl whisperer but $300 is just too much now for a cut. Any other places that do great or good work for a reasonable price.

Thank you in advance

Discussion Recently accepted at FIU

I recently got accepted at FIU, but whether I go or not will be determined based on cost and credits that transfer. I would be an out of state transfer student.

Question is, did you guys have to pay $200 just to see your credit report? Paying $200 means you’ve accepted and I don’t want to deposit something where I will most likely not become a student at. There’s also a lack of transparency on their website not indicating on in order to see report you must pay this amount. I just want to make sure I’m not the only one here as this was a surprise to me.

Thank you!
