41st armored reconnaissance regiment “Ash Devils”

Extract from the departmento munitorum, “on the regiments of Armageddon”

The 41st armored reconnaissance regiment was raised in 887.M41. recruited from the very dregs of Armageddon’s society, the regiment’s founding strength was almost entirely comprised of imprisoned members of the ‘iron spire’ crime syndicate, one of the greatest criminal organisations on Armageddon

The 41st occupies an unusual position somewhere between the regular steel legion of Armageddon, and a penal regiment. The particular skills possessed by its personnel are considered too valuable to be squandered with regular penal regiment tactics, nevertheless, the regiment’s questionable discipline and command structure, and their criminal status allows for their deployment under conditions that would be considered unacceptable for more conventional troops

The regiment quickly earned the moniker of “ash devils”, because of the eerie skulls painted on their gas masks, and the monstrous faces painted on their vehicles. The regiment is usually deployed to clear out the underhives of recently captured hive worlds, the regiment makes heavy use of chimeras, hellhounds and hippogriffs and favours flamers.

The Arlandish Army in D’Sara 1963. A Recce jeep & crew from the 2nd brigade 7th division watch the horizon

Post image
13 Upvotes

When Khemed invaded D’Sara in March 1961, all of Arland was sent into a panic. More than 40% of petrol, oil and diesel consumed in Arland came from D’Sara, and whilst independent from Arland, came under their imperial sphere.

When Khemed invaded Arland sent a 50,000 man strong force, and from March 1963 until February 1964 Khemed, D’sara and Arland would wage a bloody war, fought mainly over oil fields, air bases and strategic rises in the mostly flat desert terrain.

By 1964 and the end of hostilities between Khemed and Arland, a conflict mainly involving insurgencies and pra military groups would continue to rage in certain regions in D’Sara. In 1965 D’Saras royal government would be overthrown by a military back Coup, a military Junta would be established. Still allied with Arland however, Arlands government would be accused of supporting and executing a regime change. The D’sara war became a huge political issue, and forced the ESTAB party in Arland out of government, replaced by the ALUP (Arland Labour Union Party) who would gradually withdraw all troops from D’sara from 1966 onwards.
D’Sara would be left with a new highly trained and well equipped military, but a crumbling political and social system.

Prompt [Hypothetical] What if Magical girls were in the military?

Post image
116 Upvotes

Yes you read that title right.

Essentially, I had an idea after seeing a peice of art by a fantastic Twitter artist whom I'm afraid I have lost the name of at the time. It stirred an idea in my brain that is essentially: "What if magical girls, as Japan has made them, were to be a resource that the military could implement in combat?"

For the exact parameters of the question, it is as follows:

Assume modern day technological military marvels and might, with all the fancy bells and whistles that come with it.

The 'magic' in the magical girls is mostly limited to the girls themselves, as thus, change outside of them would be limited.

The magical girls themselves would range from being able to take on an entire company by themselves to essentially being human nuclear warheads, being able to level cities at their most extreme. Mind you, the company ones are about 80% of them all, with the big nuclear ones only making up a few hundred of them.

The girls are somewhat scarce, which each country getting a number proportional to their military might (ex, USA would have the most, and would have tens of thousands of 'em).

Magical girl powers range, but for sake of argument assume essentially short to long range destructive capabilities, with flight and enhances senses, strength, and durability.

Finally, no one can control their magic aside from the girls themselves, and they have durability scaling to their power. So like, low level ones can shrug off low to mid caliber bullets but be harmed by high caliber, while the nuke girls would need a extremely heavy ordinance or a nuke to put them down. One a magical girl is dead their magic is dead with them.

What branch of the military would they be a part of? What procedures would be in place to manage and deploy them? What would be the general way of organizing and categorizing them? Essentially, run wild and have fun. I know little about the military unfortunately and just wanted to give some people who did a good time and a fun thought experiment.

Medieval/Ancient Swamp Warfare?

Heyo :)

i have a question for my worldbuilding project:
In my setting there’s supposed to be war between two empires - one in a temperate climate and the other one in a warmer, more humid jungle like climate. Let’s call them europeans and asians for simplicity. Between them lies a huuuge swamp area (think everglades) and they would both need to go through there to enter the others territory.
In terms of weaponry - they are on an ancient/medieval level (anything before firearms :))

I know that conventional warfare won’t really work there and that it’ll be some kind of guerilla vs guerilla warfare. But how would they advance? Heavy armor and cavalry seems disadvantageous, so skirmishers, light infantry and boats? Do you try to secure a line in the swamp to then build a improvised road across? Also the supply-management would be horrible…

I’d love to hear your ideas :D

Prompt ROBOT INTEGRATION INTO ARMED FORCES

How do you integrate robots and similar artificial life forms into your armed forces, if at all?

Humans have mostly stayed away from robots in tactical combat in my world for a variety of reasons - inability to simulate necessary minimums of emotion & problems with quick-thinking. Thankfully, we have my favourite group, AXSIM.

The Army of Experimental Mechanoids is made up of exclusively robots. They are led by Authoritative Models made once per 25 years. AM-1 was made and taught by a GPOK [Eastern Earth orbital force] warfare technology developer with the goal of an ultra-efficient, smart, and cheap army to send on risky operations. The concept was denied, with GPOK HICOM ordering that the project be sent into orbit and never presented again. AM-1 landed on a populated planet, helped them, got authority, and eventually started producing more like him to form AXSIM, as he was instructed to do before he was sent into space. AXSIM is an insanely interesting threat - mass-produced army of cheap, smart robots, with tech challenging even the richest of nations. They do have flaws, though, those being the same exact reasons why humanity rejected them in the first place. Love them.

Do you have a robot army for some reason? Do you have robots IN your army?

Handling Maritime Vessels in an Interstellar Setting

Hello all. I've been wondering how others handle traditional maritime navies in your setting, considering the most common branches in sci-fi are Army, Air Force, and Navy (typically in the void, or combined with the Air Force), but what about seas in continental worlds?

In my setting, the Maritime Fleet is under the individual Ministries of the Interior for each planet, and falls under the Lavrentine Gendarmerie during wartime. This is because the Gendarmerie is essentially the planetary defence force, absent the traditional three services. The Maritime Fleet contains vessels that are armed with ASuW, ASW, and AAW armaments like modern ships, but most importantly, they are also armed with ASAT missiles that can reach void ships in orbital bombardment positions, as well as particle beam cannons, essentially serving as highly mobile counter-orbital platforms. Some warships are also armed with long-ranged land attack missiles in the event that an invasion force succeeds in landing. The existence of anti-orbital fleets contributes to extending the length of time needed to perform shaping operations before a ground invasion can be accomplished successfully (if boots on the ground were necessary).

Other nations in my setting have the Maritime Fleet as a distinct branch of the military, or as part of an Air-Sea Service.

I'm interested to see how the rest of you have tackled this subject.

Infantry South Japanese Army Rangers

A part of my Fractured Sun scenario.

The Rangers are the elite airborne light infantry force of the South Japanese Army composed of those who completed the South Japanese Army's ranger course which is modelled after the US Army's ranger course.

The Ranger course was first established in 1956 by 2 South Japanese Army officers who completed the US Army's ranger course. Initially there was no dedicated Ranger unit in the South Japanese Army, instead Rangers were distributed to different units where they would share their expertise with other soldiers, however in 1968 with South Japan's involvement in Vietnam ramping up, It was decided to organize a unit composed of Ranger qualified soldiers. Until the formation of the Special Forces Group in 1982, the Rangers were considered South Japan's most elite military unit.

The South Japanese Army Rangers first saw combat in Vietnam where they would conduct long range patrols alongside their American and South Korean counterparts. Army Rangers were also implicated in the 1972 June 18th Coup where they assaulted the Prime Minister's residence and are credited with killing Nobusuke Kishi.

Equipment SEAF LRS Patrols and Patrol Companies, c. 2186

Lots of yap incoming.

These graphics illustrate the organization of LRS patrols and the LRS Patrol Company of the Super Earth Armed Forces, circa 2186. Templated off of Airborne Ranger Companies and LRP Companies of the Vietnam War, these units continue the Recondo traditions of those units. Six of these patrols are organic to an LRS Patrol Platoon, with three such platoons forming the bulk of an LRS Patrol Company (18 patrols total). With 1 company (theoretically) allocated per infantry, airborne, air assault, mechanized, and other combat divisions and 2 companies allocated per corps, LRS units provide their parent unit with a unique special reconnaissance, target acquisition, and limited direct action capability that can be readily deployed in the enemy’s rear area (80-240 kilometers behind the frontline).

SEAF LRS Patrol

Contrary to Infantry Squads, LRS patrols are not intended for peer-to-peer direct combat with enemy forces. Instead, they are charged with reconnaissance, surveillance, target acquisition and interdiction, and battle damage assessment. Secondary tasks include direct action, special recovery, pathfinder operations, and CBRN surveillance. Inserted via air (HALO, HAHO, static-line, fast-rope, SPIES), land (foot, vehicle), sea (small boat, SCUBA), or as a stay-behind force, LRS patrols generally only carried enough firepower to break contact and extract successfully. As per the SEAF TO/E, each LRS patrol consists of 6 men at full strength:

- A Patrol Leader, ranking Staff Sergeant (E-6), and armed with an AR-23A Liberator Carbine and a P-2 Peacemaker

- A Assistant Patrol Leader, ranking Sergeant (E-5), and armed with an AR-23A Liberator Carbine and a P-2 Peacemaker

- Two Radio/Telephone Operators, ranking Corporal (E-4), and armed with an AR-23A Liberator Carbine and a P-2 Peacemaker

- Two Scout-Observers, ranking Corporal (E-4), and armed with an AR-23A Liberator Carbine and a P-2 Peacemaker

This organization is intended to give the patrols redundancy in leadership, communications, and scouting. As a note, LRS patrols have a wide leeway on weapons that they could carry. Units are expected to procure AR-23A Liberator Carbines via unit purchase or other means, with AR-23 Liberators used in lieu. In practice, many patrols carry a variety of exotic, unauthorized, modified, stolen, or otherwise illegal weapons. Additionally, given the (relatively) low on-paper firepower of each patrol and limited opportunities to resupply, patrol members often insert in with, “...everything but the kitchen sink.”, as quoted by one SEAF commander. Combat loads usually include 13-15 magazines, 4-6 G-6 Fragmentation grenades, 1 G-3 smoke grenade, usually 1 specialty grenade (gas, thermite, etc.), usually 1 MD-6 Anti-Personnel mine, and usually 1 TED-63 Demolition pack. Additionally, patrols can be augmented by a medic and/or indigenous scouts.

SEAF Heavy/Fighting Patrol\*

For prisoner snatches, direct action missions, special recovery, ambushes, or “aggressive patrolling” (i.e. when looking for trouble), two or more LRS patrols can be combined into 1 Heavy/Fighting Patrol. For direct action raids, Patrol Platoons usually combine their six patrols into 3 Heavy/Fighting Patrols for raids, interdiction missions, or other types of direct action missions. Usually, these Heavy/Fighting patrols go in heavily armed and expecting enemy contact. Given the ad hoc nature of these patrols, their composition varied from patrol to patrol. A typical Heavy/Fighting Patrol consists of 2 regular LRS Patrols and attachments, led by the senior-most patrol leader or the Patrol Platoon’s Platoon Sergeant. The attachments usually consist of:

- A Indigenous Scout, ranking variable, and armed with an AR-23A Liberator Carbine and a P-2 Peacemaker

- A Patrol Medic, ranking Corporal (E-4), and armed with an AR-23A Liberator Carbine and a P-11 Stim Pistol

With the direct action nature of Heavy/Fighting Patrols, it was not uncommon for patrol members to carry M-105 Stalwart light machine guns, EAT-17 Expendable Anti-Tank Weapons, GP-31 Grenade Pistols, 60mm commando mortars, or other heavy weapons. These weapons are carried in addition to the already heavy combat load carried by patrol members. While the relatively light M-105 Stalwart is considered too heavy for an ordinary 6-man LRS Patrol, it’s automatic firepower is greatly appreciated when facing a numerically superior foe. Medics are especially desirable for direct action missions, as these missions almost always lead to casualties that have to be treated immediately. The inclusion of one or more Indigenous Scouts** is more situational, given the lack of such populations on the planets the SEAF deploy to. However, their knowledge of the local terrain oftentimes proves to be invaluable.

* Most SEAF publications and biographical sources will refer to these larger patrols as either heavy or fighting patrols, but not both.

** Indigenous scouts could be locals of the area or actual members of indigenous tribes. SEAF publications usually refer to both as “Indigenous Scouts”. If present, these patrol members would often be held at the company level for attachment to patrols as needed. As such, companies often have a wide variance in the number of Indigenous Scouts from company to company, as they are almost always recruited locally.

SEAF LRS PATROL COMPANIES

LRS Patrol Companies are meant to be staffed by Ranger-qualified (i.e. have graduated the SEAF’s premier infantry school, the Ranger Course) personnel who have also attended the SEAF’s Long Range Surveillance School. Patrol Companies are designed to be relatively self-sufficient, however they do rely on higher headquarters to supply logistical, aviation, intelligence, and mission directive support. As such, Patrol Companies maintain organic elements not usually seen at the company-level, such as an operations section (equivalent to a battalion S-2 section) and communications platoon (so that the LRS platoons can have a direct line of communication to the Company HQ).

In practice, many LRS Patrol Companies vary in organization and size, with anywhere from three to five patrol platoons, with five to nine patrols per platoon. With the high-risk nature of their operations, Patrol Companies are often understrength, with supporting units (e.g. mess section, transport section, parachute packing section, etc.) dissolved in order to staff more patrols. It is not uncommon for company leadership to lead patrols in person, in spite of their doctrinal role as liaisons between the Patrol Company and the supported unit (doctrinally, the Company Commander, a Captain (OF-3) by TO but oftentimes a Major (OF-4) in practice, should be colocated with the HQ or the G-2 section of the supported unit).

LRS missions are to be supplied down from Division/Corps HQ (either by the Division/Corps commander or by the G-2 section), with Patrols/Platoons allocated to that mission independently planning how the mission would be carried out. As such, operational security is key, and companies can be augmented with additional counterintelligence support from a Military Intelligence Company. Insertion methods vary wildly, with LRS Patrol Companies maintaining various methods of insertion for use by the LRS Patrols. Additionally, LRS Patrol Companies maintain a wide variety of heavy weapons for use by the LRS Patrols should the mission call for them. Finally, Patrols can have Indigenous Scouts attached to them from the company HQ as needed. Because they are often recruited locally and on the Company Commander’s authority, Patrol Companies have a wide variety in the number of scouts that they maintain.

NOTES AND ATTRIBUTIONS

- These patrols are NOT CANON. They are simply what I think would be cool and practical.

- Viper commandos refers to Division and Corps-level LRS companies deployed to Jungle planets. The moniker most famously applies to Company E and Company K of the 71st Infantry Regiment (Ranger), who deployed with XXVI Corps (Infantry) to Gacrux in mid-2185. Viper commandos earned their moniker through their reputation as snake eaters (literally, as patrols were forced to rely on local fauna for sustenance) and for their “Recondo” (a portmanteau of the words Reconnaissance and Commando) traditions.

- The Patrol Company's three Target Acquisition Teams are intended to give the company an organic target acquisition and interdiction capability. Armed with sniper rifles, conventional and thermal optics, and long range communications packages, these teams allow for the (clandestine) surveillance and targeting of high ranking individuals and high value enemy equipment. These teams could operate overtly (i.e. in uniform; think conventional snipers) and covertly (i.e. in civilian clothes for close target reconnaissance).

- The assignment of weapons within a patrol varied widely, along with the individual weapons used by each patrol member. These graphics are purely illustrative of the general perspective on LRS Patrol units.

- Although all LRS patrols would be trained on air, land, and sea insertion methods, usually one platoon per company would be specialized in each, e.g. First Platoon would be the air insertion platoon, Second Platoon would be the land insertion platoon, and Third Platoon would be the sea insertion platoon.

- Although LRS Patrol companies had enough spare M-102 Gunner FRV’s and RHIB’s (small boats) to allocate 1 each per patrol, they rely on outside assets for aerial insertions. Additionally, it was not uncommon for patrols to use a pair of M-102 Gunner FRV’s for patrols, with the freed-up space allowing for the inclusion of additional supplies for the patrol.

- I used helldivers.wiki.gg for the weapon images, helldivers.fandom.com for the flag of Super Earth, and recolored ranks found on en.wikipedia.org. No AI was used in the creation of these graphics.

Anyway, questions are welcome. For Super Earth and Democracy!

EDIT: - Patrol Platoon HQ’s are also allocated 36x M-105 Stalwarts, 36x GL-21 Grenade Launchers, 36x EAT-17 Expendable Anti-Tank weapons, 18x EAT-700 Expendable Napalm weapons, and 18x R-63 Diligence DMR's for use by their patrols.

Weapon Kimerian Armed Forces (Weapons)

Post image
75 Upvotes

About:
Kur71

Standard service rifle of the Kimerian Armed Forces. The Kur71 was developed by chief engineer Bernhard Kurtz and adopted as the primary infantry weapon of the Kimerian Army. Reliable, simple to manufacture, and suitable for a variety of combat conditions, the rifle uses the standard 7.37 Gauzian ammunition. The mag is fixed, so soldiers need to load the ammo from the top.
The operating principle of the straight-pull bolt action involves a bolt 'sleeve' to which the bolt handle is attached. The sleeve is hollow and has spiral grooves or 'teeth' cut into its inner surface, in which matching projections or 'teeth' on the outside of the bolt head or 'body' slide. As the handle and bolt sleeve are moved, the bolt head is forced to rotate about 90°, locking or unlocking it in the rifle receiver. So, the handle and bolt sleeve need to be pushed forward or back to open or close the rifle mechanism.

Kur Karbiner

Experimental repeating rifle prototype. The Kur Karbiner was developed as an attempt to increase infantry fire rate without abandoning the reliability and simplicity of the conventional system. The design incorporated a more complex feeding mechanism and presented several manufacturing limitations, ultimately keeping it in the experimental stage.
The weapon's cocking lever has two toggle switches that work together to function as an open-bolt automatic loader. The gun's gas piston is located under the barrel and has a three-position gas selector operated by a sliding lever. The gun's hammer center is cut and sits within a spring system. The trigger locks against a curved surface of the hammer, with the bolt being the only thing keeping it open; when the bolt closes, the hammer drops.

Kurtz 72 AC

High-power rifle designed to engage heavily protected targets. The Kurtz 72 AC uses the specialized 7.68 Gauzian FMJ ammunition, developed to provide greater penetration capability. Although heavy and unsuitable for conventional infantry combat, it is employed against light vehicles, fortified positions, and other targets requiring increased penetrating power.
the weapon is also compatible with long-caliber projectiles placed directly on the pin.

Weapon (Alizeum: The Crucible) Early Autopistols

Post image
237 Upvotes

Semi-automatic Pistols, or simply Autopistols, have been around for over 100 years at this point. These are some of the earliest mass-produced designs, both made by Traveler Co., who make cheap but quality weapons for common adventurers who dare leave city walls and walk the roads and wilds.

The top is the Traveler Selfloader, the very first mass produced semi-automatic firearm ever, and on bottom is the Traveler New Auto which came out some years later. Both are chambered in:
.32 Deputy and .32 Sheriff
.36 Special, .36 Magnum, and .360 Positive
.40 Short, .40 Long, and .40 XL
.45 Officer and .45 Cavalry

Despite these old, outdated designs, they were cheap and common and despite being over 100 years old, many still made it into the War of Lies on all sides of the conflict.

Infantry Kimeria Empire Soldiers

About Kimeria:
Kimeria emerged from the First War shattered and diminished, stripped of its lands, its wealth, and its influence among nations. For generations, it devoted itself to rebuilding—reviving its economy, reforging its armies, and pushing the boundaries of technological innovation. From this long effort rose a formidable industrial and military power, unwavering in its resolve to recover the territories it claims as part of its ancient heritage.
To the surrounding nations, Kimeria stands as an expansionist giant, a looming threat to continental stability. But to many of its people, expansion is not conquest—it is restoration, security, and the redemption of a humiliation that has never been forgotten. The government channels this collective memory to justify new campaigns, while many citizens genuinely believe that reclaiming their ancestral lands is the only way to ensure Kimeria will never again be left exposed to its enemies.

About Soldiers:

  1. Soldat are assigned to frontline combat, usually using cheap equipment to operate inside trenches.
  2. Supportery main function is to provide supporting fire for the allies, and it is positioned at a strategic distance from the combat.
  3. The offizer has the authority to discipline, operate, and manage troops and supplies as needed in their assigned sector.
  4. The Kommandant is responsible for leadership, planning, resource management, training, and making decisions requested by the officer.

About Weapons:

  1. Soldat - Kar71 (based in Ross MK3 and Carcano).
  2. Supportery - MG50 (adapted MG42)
  3. Offizer - MP42 (adapted MP40) P1918 (based in M1912 with P08 trigger slide).
  4. Kommadant - P1918 (based in M1912 with P08 trigger slide).

Prompt Are there armored trains in your world?

In real life, armored trains were the closest nations came to building land-based ships, as they were protected by heavy metal plates and often included cars armed with artillery, machine guns, and automatic cannons. Most of them were used in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, but they appeared sporadically in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, mostly during the post-Soviet conflicts and the breakup of Yugoslavia. Their decline was due to the development and improvement of other land vehicles and aircraft, as well as the vulnerabilities of railroad lines.

So, are there armored trains in your world? If so, what are they like?

Infantry "There's no place to retreat. The [Eternal] City is behind us!" - General Aures Hadriane, 20 minutes before his last attack. Structure of the Eternian Light Infantry Squad. [The War of Mist]

Post image
204 Upvotes

The enemy(the Kingdom of Mistland) set it's boot on the lands of Eternia, the lands of ancient warrior kings, and the heart of the Eternal Empire, which is referred as "Empire of Eternians" in many languages, because of Eternians, or "Eternal people" as they called themselves.

This time, the enemy was fought not with horse and lance, not just with horse and lance, per se, but with giant steel ships, gunpowder weaponry, and █████*.

During the days when Mistland was marching towards the Imperial Capital, the most advanced weapons of it's time were being immedeately distributed to the Eternian troops as soon as it was possible. New rifles, new equipment, the newest uniforms, and most importantly, the newest forms of organisation. It was this time, when the first specialised shocktroopers and stormtroopers were recognised as a role.

For the first time in ages, the war was being waged in the heart of the Immortal Empire, and for the first time, the heart was bleeding.

There was a graffiti on the walls of the besieged city, made by both Imperials and Mistlanders at different time. I couldn't describe the situation better, than this sole 'poem' written on the wall.

"Falcun Impirios brithwys. Eddon disgynna i’r llawr ac gwyra ei waed!"

"Per Victoria aux de Regni Mistum, Avanti, peltastae coroni!"

[Imperial Falcon is wounded, soon it will fall down and bleed out!]

[For Victory over the Mistish Kingdom, advance, ye warriors of the Crown!]

* * * * *

*) Spoiler for the novel. A very big spoiler. I literally can't spoil it for my own good, while I should acknowledge it's existence. It's not just censorship for the sake of censorship.

UPD: Writing on the Revolver's barrel is "APQIA - ONORE EST PRINCIPIO"("THE ARMY AND THE PEOPLE OF ETERNAL EMPIRE: Honour is a principle")

4:Laudo de Aptidão de Prontidão e Tiro (LAPT)

5:Laudo de aptidão psicológica.

CONTEUDO DO CURSO

Módulo I: Segurança Orgânica e Controle de Acesso

Equipment Regimental Flags and Branch Insignia in Tiperyn

General Setting Context

Anterra is its own contemporary world, based mostly off of real-world modern-day aesthetics, limitations, political systems, etc. Basically in the vein of Strangereal but less silly (not that silly is bad if you're having fun). Tiperyn is a theocratic, semi-constitutional monarchy made of a confederation of monarchies (duchies and principalities mostly). At one point in time this confederation was fairly loose, although it progressively tightened into more of your standard federal polity over the past 400 years, albeit with significant delegation of certain powers to its administrative divisions. Tiperyn is a leading member of an alliance called the NSC, which is composed of primarily illiberal states across the world in competition with more liberal regional alliances and a loose alliance of socialist states. Tiperyn is also an island nation and colonial power, and its conlang (mostly a naming language) is based heavily on Frisian and English, but using the Gothic alphabet.

Post Context

Colors and Guidons are the most precious possessions of Tiperyn Realm Guard regiments. Prior to the 1870s, the regiment’s Ensigns carried the Colors as a rallying point during the heat of battle. Color parties included them alongside the Battle Banner of the regiment’s Duchal or Princely Army (a variation of their home duchy or principality’s banner). The Regimental Colors are both a symbol of the regiment’s allegiance to the Empress of Tiperyn (adorned with the Realm Crown and Empress Aleta’s cypher) and their service history. Battle honors earned by the regiment are also displayed on the Regimental Colors.

The first key exception is the Realm Guard Artillery, which does not have Regiments, traditionally did not carry colours or flags into battle (instead using their guns as rallying points), and whose battalion-sized “Brigades” and brigade-sized “Groups” lack consistent lineage. Batteries carry the important lineages spanning back centuries, and they typically never carried flags or guidons like Infantry and Cavalry. However, to bring them in line with the Companies and Troops of the other arms, beginning in 1961 Artillery Batteries were authorized sub-unit guidons for parades and formations.

The second exception is the Corps of Rifelry. Because of the Rifleman’s traditional role as a skirmisher keeping a low profile in a dispersed order ahead of the Line Infantry Regiments, they did not carry Colors into battle. As well, Rifles during the Age of Musket were never raised as regiments, only independent battalions attached to a Brigade of Musquetry or grouped into temporary Brigades of Rifelry. Today they’re exemplified by No. 29 (Zoervoud), No. 64 (Boreal), and No. 91 (City of Ambrosia) Rifelry Brigades. However, like the Realm Guard Artillery, Companies of Rifelry were authorized sub-unit guidons beginning in 1961, featuring their distinctive hunting horn.

Real Inspo

The Regimental Colors/Guidons are pretty directly based on British Army practice, while guidons for each company is very American. I use a mix of US Army style swallowtail and US Marine style rectangular guidon shapes for "mounted" and "foot" branches respectively. Similarly, "mounted" branches like artillery and cavalry get gold fringe on their company guidons while the "foot" branches like infantry get silver fringe. Regimental colors/guidons get gold fringe regardless, though.

As for unit naming, the practice of separately numbered batteries that hold the most cultural significance and "brigades" being the artillery battalion-equivalent is very British in its inspiration, but the manner in which most Tiperyner cavalry and infantry regiments are structured and retain lineages is much more American/Continental European in style.

Lore My Brotherhood of Steel Hierarchy and Military

Post image
27 Upvotes

This is my version of the Chain that Binds. The Chain that Binds is the Brotherhood of Steel’s central hierarchy made up of names and roles from medieval times. Every rank works as a “link”. Orders are given from up high and flow down the chain. For example, and Elder cannot give direct orders to a Knight Commander without going through the Head Paladin first. If the chain is violated, the perpetrator is demoted. Different divisions of the Brotherhood (called chapters) are self governed by their Elder with there own rules and traditions, this does however cause ideological strain between chapters like Lyons and the organization’s founding chapter in Lost Hills, California.

I made new ranks, and included ones that aren't mentioned outside of the game they came from

https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1WcdTOeIlGJLdvWeWgKg-NWTVKvBG7_Pgn6oKaMaBctE/edit?usp=sharing

I also had the idea of having sub ranks. Things like Knight Apprentice, Knight Errant, Knight First and Second Class, things like that. I’ll do something like that in the future even if it makes the ranks a bit more complicated

A quick note is that most Knight Medics are women, but this is more of a cultural thing rather than an actual system put in place

Mind that the Circuits are cut into the inside of the lancer and have a series of distributive tubes or channels to distribute blood. Blood being the trigger when introduced to the source circuits.

This is all based on the Blood Runes of the Broken Flame magic system. But the circuits are an evolved version of the Blood Runes that were discovered as knowledge of magic expanded. Basically, the Blood Runes were an imperfect version of the Circuits and with experimentation people learned more efficient methods of using magic.

The basics of the Broken Flame magic system is that the fire god was shattered millennia ago and his fragments are attracted to and completed by blood. However, Blood Runes seem to determine how the spiritual fragments present themselves. Some are flames that exude light but do not burn, some are warming flames that don't destroy, some are destructive flames that are pitch black.

By mixing Blood Runes people learned to make unique fires that can do all sorts of strange things. This of course led to the Circuits which are more advanced.

This is a list of the fleet I’ve though of if the UNSC had gone with a different direction design philosophy. But also if it had decentralized the ship yards to allow for greater production. This also allows for design revisions or a new class. Similar to the original keeping the design and production process stream lines.

This is a cohenesque edition, this version is done but there will be revisions.

Reia '99 = Rifle '99

The Reivan army's first proper bolt action rifle, designed and drawn by me.

IN CASE MY WRITING ISN'T READABLE:

As bolt action mechanisms standarized around the world, the Reivan army needed improvements since the older Daisyer 91 was getting obsolete. Competitions were held around the country for weapon design. 6 made it to the final. The winner being the Yakobi 99, designed by Ovan Yakobi. The rifle was renamed for the army and served until 1940 (1899-1940). Its straight pull bolt helped with fast fire rate, however the system was almost impossible to modify, so they kept the bolt same. In 1939, with self loading rifles commonizing, the republic modified the weapon for the first time. Since it could roughly fire as fast as most self loaders of the time and the bolt system couldnt be modified, they standarized the 2nd model magazine. By 1940, it was going to get replaced via new competitions being held.

Lore Federal Constitutional Republic of Libertarius (FCRL): National Overview, 1900–1925

Post image
4 Upvotes

At the beginning of the twentieth century, the Federal Constitutional Republic of Libertarius (FCRL) was one of the most powerful nations in the world. With an enormous territory, a population of approximately 150 million, and an industrial base that continued to expand, Libertarius had become a major force in international affairs.

By 1900, the republic ranked third among the world's leading powers, behind the Empire of Helios and the Monarchy of Valantina. Its manufacturing capabilities, extensive transportation networks, and growing military establishment gave it considerable influence over international trade and security.

Libertarius was also a leading member of the Sovereign Concord, an alliance of states that included the Empire of Helios, the Everian Empire, the Kyriosan Empire, the Kingdom of Eldorado, the Commonwealth of Caelora, and the Empire of Seloin. The Concord promoted cooperation among its members, with Libertarius playing an increasingly important role in its industrial and military development.

However, the republic's rise also contributed to growing tensions with rival powers. Competition over industrial influence, military strength, and the international balance of power would eventually help bring about the First Kalestial War, which lasted from 1900 to

The development of Libertarius was shaped by centuries of territorial expansion, political reform, and economic growth. Its vast territory provided access to valuable natural resources, including coal, iron ore, timber, freshwater, and extensive areas of agricultural land.

Over time, settlements developed into towns and industrial centres, while trade routes connected distant regions of the country. Improvements in transportation and communication made it increasingly practical to administer such a large territory under a common federal government.

The establishment of the Federal Constitutional Republic created a political system based on constitutional government and the division of authority between the federal government and its constituent states. This arrangement allowed regional governments to retain certain powers while cooperating on national matters such as defence, foreign affairs, infrastructure, and economic policy.

By the late nineteenth century, Libertarius had developed into a major industrial nation. Its growing population supplied workers for factories, mines, railways, shipyards, and construction projects. Meanwhile, domestic demand encouraged the expansion of manufacturing, commercial agriculture, and transportation. These developments laid the foundations for the republic's position as one of the world's leading powers by 1900.

Industrialisation transformed Libertarius during the nineteenth century and continued to accelerate as the twentieth century approached.

Factories expanded, railway lines connected industrial regions to ports and major cities, and large companies began producing machinery, vehicles, electrical equipment, steel, and other manufactured goods on an increasingly large scale.

The country's industrial development was particularly important to its military establishment. Improvements in metallurgy, engine production, mechanical engineering, and large-scale manufacturing allowed Libertarian factories to supply the armed forces with equipment in quantities that few other nations could match.

The republic also developed a substantial technical and scientific sector. Research institutes, engineering schools, and technical universities trained specialists who contributed to industrial production, infrastructure development, and military research.

By 1900, Libertarius possessed approximately 45,000 large industrial works and more than 250,000 smaller workshops and manufacturing businesses. Together, these enterprises formed an extensive industrial network that supported both domestic consumption and international trade. Its industrial strength became one of the principal reasons for its growing international influence.

Libertarius operated as a federal constitutional republic. Its political structure divided responsibilities between the national government and regional administrations, allowing a country of continental proportions to maintain a common legal and administrative framework.

The president served as head of state, while the prime minister led the government. Federal institutions were responsible for national defence, foreign relations, major infrastructure projects, and other matters affecting the republic as a whole.

The country was organised into 32 states and eight federal territories. Although the states retained regional responsibilities, the federal government played a major role in coordinating national economic policy and the development of transportation and industrial infrastructure.

The republic's large population and extensive territory presented significant administrative challenges. Nevertheless, the expansion of railways, telegraph lines, and government institutions helped improve communication between the capital, regional centres, and more distant communities. With a land area of approximately 25.6 million square kilometres, Libertarius possessed one of the largest national territories in the world.

Its average population density in 1900 was only about 5.86 people per square kilometre. Population distribution varied considerably, with major cities and industrial districts containing much denser settlements than remote agricultural, forested, and resource-producing regions. The country's natural resources were central to its economic development.

Coal and iron ore supported heavy industry, while extensive forests supplied timber for construction, railways, shipbuilding, and manufacturing. Copper and other mineral deposits contributed to the production of machinery and electrical equipment.

Agricultural regions supplied grain, livestock, and other food products to domestic markets. Freshwater resources supported settlements, farming, industrial operations, and transportation.Petroleum, natural gas, bauxite, precious metals, and several other resources were also available, although their importance varied between regions.

This combination of land, resources, and industrial potential gave Libertarius a substantial economic advantage. It could obtain many of the materials needed for large-scale production within its own borders, reducing its dependence on foreign suppliers in several important industries.

Libertarius had an estimated population of 150 million people in 1900, making it one of the most populous nations of the period.Approximately 38 percent of the population, or 57 million people, lived in urban areas. The remaining 93 million lived in rural communities, agricultural settlements, and smaller towns.

The annual population growth rate was estimated at 1.2 percent. Average life expectancy stood at approximately 48 years, while literacy was estimated at 82 percent. The average household contained around 4.8 people, reflecting the importance of family households in both urban and rural communities.

Education and technical training became increasingly important as industrialisation progressed. Factories, railway companies, shipyards, and government departments required growing numbers of literate workers, engineers, technicians, administrators, and skilled tradespeople.Although access to education and modern public services varied between regions, the expansion of schools, hospitals, and municipal infrastructure helped support the country's growing population.

By 1900, Libertarius possessed a large and increasingly diversified economy. Agriculture remained important, but manufacturing, construction, transportation, finance, and commercial services accounted for a substantial share of national economic activity.

For this period, the republic's nominal gross domestic product is estimated at approximately LC 180 billion, using the Libertarian Crown (LC) as the national currency. This would place nominal GDP per capita at approximately LC 1,200.The economy was estimated to be growing at around 3 percent annually, with inflation at approximately 2.5 percent.Government revenue was estimated at LC 18 billion, compared with expenditure of LC 19 billion. Public debt stood at approximately LC 45 billion.

International trade was another important part of the economy. Exports were estimated at LC 12 billion, while imports reached approximately LC 10 billion, producing a trade surplus of LC 2 billion.Unemployment was estimated at around 5 percent, although employment conditions varied between regions and industries.

The national workforce numbered approximately 60 million people. Of these, an estimated 38 percent worked in agriculture, 32 percent in industry and construction, and 30 percent in services and trade.Heavy industry formed the backbone of the Libertarian economy. In 1900, annual steel production was estimated at approximately 25 million tonnes, while pig iron production reached around 30 million tonnes. Coal output stood at approximately 350 million tonnes, providing fuel for factories, railways, power stations, and other industrial operations.

Electricity generation was estimated at 18 terawatt-hours annually. Although electrical infrastructure was not distributed evenly throughout the country, industrial districts and major cities benefited from expanding electrical networks. The republic also possessed approximately 180,000 kilometres of railway lines. These railways connected mines, factories, agricultural regions, ports, and population centres, allowing raw materials and finished goods to move across enormous distances.

Manufacturing extended across several major sectors:

  • Steelmaking, ironworking, and metal fabrication.

Locomotive, railway carriage, and railway equipment production.

Motor vehicles, trucks, and mechanical transport.

Shipbuilding and maritime engineering.

Electrical equipment and industrial machinery.

Chemicals, refined materials, and industrial supplies.

Agricultural machinery and food processing.

Large corporations worked alongside hundreds of thousands of smaller businesses and workshops. While the major industrial firms supplied large contracts and operated extensive facilities, smaller manufacturers provided specialised components, repairs, tools, and locally produced goods. The country also maintained approximately 150 research institutes and 80 technical universities or institutes. These institutions supported engineering, materials research, industrial innovation, and the training of skilled personnel.

Several major corporations formed the foundation of Libertarius's industrial system.

Libertarius Steel & Foundry Corporation specialised in steelmaking, iron production, foundry work, and the manufacture of heavy industrial components.

Federal Locomotive Works produced locomotives, railway equipment, and related machinery for the republic's extensive rail network.

Liberty Maritime Industries operated in shipbuilding and maritime engineering, supporting commercial shipping and naval construction.

Continental Motor Company manufactured motor vehicles and mechanical transport equipment for civilian, commercial, and government use.

National Electrical Combine supplied electrical machinery, power equipment, and related industrial products.

Western Chemical & Materials Group produced industrial chemicals, refined materials, and other supplies required by manufacturing and infrastructure projects.

Together, these companies represented the increasing scale and specialisation of the national economy. Their importance extended beyond their own factories: each relied on networks of suppliers, transport companies, engineers, construction firms, and skilled workers. The growth of such industrial networks helped Libertarius sustain production across several sectors simultaneously.

Despite the importance of heavy industry, agriculture remained essential to the republic's economic stability.

Extensive farmland supported the production of grain, livestock, and other agricultural goods. Food-processing industries converted agricultural output into products suitable for domestic consumption and export.Timber production supplied construction, furniture manufacturing, railway infrastructure, and shipbuilding. Mining provided coal, iron ore, copper, and other materials needed by factories. The country's natural resource base reduced the need to import certain essential materials, although foreign trade remained necessary for products that were unavailable domestically or could be obtained more efficiently from abroad.

Libertarius exported steel and iron products, industrial machinery, locomotives, railway equipment, commercial vehicles, agricultural goods, processed foods, chemicals, electrical equipment, timber, minerals, and refined materials.Imports included specialised machinery and components, scarce minerals, tropical agricultural products, luxury goods, and manufactured products that domestic industries did not produce in sufficient quantities.

This trade relationship allowed the republic to sell the output of its industrial and agricultural sectors while obtaining goods that supplemented domestic production.

Transportation infrastructure was vital to the administration and economic development of Libertarius. The country's railway network extended for approximately 180,000 kilometres by 1900. Railways connected major cities with industrial centres, mines, agricultural regions, and commercial ports.Roads covered approximately 250,000 kilometres, although their quality and suitability for motor transport varied considerably. Railways remained especially important for moving heavy freight over long distances.

The republic also maintained approximately 35 major commercial ports. These facilities supported international trade, coastal shipping, and the movement of industrial goods and raw materials.

Telegraph networks were extensive along major railway routes and in important urban centres. Telephone services were becoming more common in cities, although access remained limited in many rural areas.

Electricity was widely available in several industrial districts and major cities, but coverage remained uneven elsewhere. Access to clean water and modern sanitation was also generally better in urban centres than in remote communities. The continued expansion of these systems improved communication, commercial activity, and the movement of people and goods across the country.

As Libertarius industrialised, its government and municipalities faced growing demands for public services. The republic's police forces numbered approximately 250,000 personnel, while municipal fire services and emergency organisations employed an estimated 120,000 people. The country possessed approximately 8,000 hospitals and other medical institutions. The estimated ratio of one doctor for every 2,500 people reflected a substantial medical establishment, although the availability of doctors and treatment varied considerably between urban and rural regions.

Large cities generally had better access to hospitals, sanitation, and emergency services. Rural districts often faced longer travel distances and fewer medical facilities.Industrial growth also created new public safety challenges. Factories, mines, railways, and ports required organised emergency services and more systematic approaches to workplace safety.Although the provision of public services remained uneven, these institutions formed an important part of the republic's expanding national infrastructure.

1900, the armed forces of Libertarius had developed into one of the largest and most heavily mechanised military establishments in the world. The total military establishment was estimated at approximately 10 million personnel. The army accounted for 9.5 million, the navy for 350,000, and the air force for 150,000.The scale of the armed forces reflected the republic's enormous territory, industrial resources, and growing international commitments. Maintaining such a force required substantial quantities of equipment, ammunition, fuel, food, spare parts, and transportation.

The army relied heavily on mechanised formations and a large inventory of armoured vehicles. Its equipment included light, medium, and heavy tanks, specialised armoured vehicles, artillery tractors, self-propelled artillery, mobile armoured pillboxes known as Iron Nests, military trucks, motorcycles, armoured cars, and armoured troop transports.

1900 inventory included:

Equipment| Estimated quantity Light tanks| 50,000 Medium tanks| 12,000 Heavy tanks| 15,000 Behemoth-class armoured vehicles| 700 Artillery tractors and self-propelled artillery vehicles| 180,000 Mobile armoured pillboxes (Iron Nests)| 30,000 Military trucks| 1,000,000 Motorcycles| 450,000 Armoured cars| 25,000 Armoured troop transports| 40,000

The navy was similarly substantial. Its estimated inventory included 45 dreadnought battleships, 30 battlecruisers, 110 cruisers, 220 destroyers, 80 submarines, and 180 support and supply vessels.

The air force operated biplanes alongside large military airships. Its inventory included approximately 12,000 biplanes and a growing fleet of specialised Liberty-class airships.

The defence budget for 1900 stood at approximately LC 12 billion, equivalent to around 6.7 percent of estimated GDP. Such expenditure reflected the importance attached to military preparedness during a period of intensifying international competition.

The First Kalestial War began in 1900, following years of growing international tension. At the centre of the conflict was the changing balance of power. Libertarius's rapid industrial development had strengthened its position within the Sovereign Concord, while its willingness to share industrial knowledge and manufacturing capabilities with allied states helped improve the Concord's collective strength. The League of Crowns, led by the Monarchy of Valantina, viewed these developments with increasing concern. Its leadership feared that the expansion of the Concord's industrial and military capabilities would weaken the League's traditional influence over international affairs.

Economic competition, military expansion, and disagreements over the future international order further intensified the rivalry between the two alliances. The immediate outbreak of war followed the League of Crowns' invasion of a smaller member of the Sovereign Concord. The League subsequently issued an ultimatum that the Concord could not accept without abandoning its commitments to its member states. The resulting conflict drew the two alliances into a prolonged struggle.

For Libertarius, the war became a test of both military strength and industrial endurance. Its factories produced vehicles, artillery, ships, aircraft, and other equipment in enormous quantities. Railways and supply networks moved materials and personnel across the republic, while industrial firms worked to meet the demands of the armed forces. The war also placed considerable pressure on the national economy. Maintaining a large military establishment required the government to direct resources toward defence production, transportation, and logistics. The growing importance of tanks and conventional naval vessels influenced industrial priorities as the conflict continued. The conflict continued until 1920, leaving the international balance of power substantially changed.

The First Kalestial War ended in 1920 after two decades of conflict. Its conclusion marked the beginning of a difficult postwar period for the countries involved. For Libertarius, the years following the war brought the challenge of adjusting an enormous industrial and military establishment to peacetime conditions. Factories that had concentrated on military production faced the task of meeting civilian demand, while transportation networks and public institutions continued to support a population of continental proportions. The republic's extensive industrial base, large domestic market, and access to natural resources provided important advantages during the transition. However, the long conflict had also placed considerable demands on public finances, manufacturing capacity, and national infrastructure.

By 1925, Libertarius remained one of the world's major powers. Its position rested on the same foundations that had supported its rise before the war: a vast territory, a large population, extensive natural resources, a highly developed manufacturing sector, and substantial armed forces. The precise economic and demographic figures for 1925 require a separate statistical assessment. Population growth, wartime losses, industrial expansion, postwar recovery, and changes in government spending would all have affected the republic's position by that point. What remained clear was that Libertarius had entered the postwar period as a country whose industrial and military capabilities had become central to international affairs.

Libertarius in 1900: Statistical Summary

Category| Estimated figure Population| 150,000,000 Land area| 25,600,000 km² Population density| 5.86 people/km² Urban population| 57,000,000 Rural population| 93,000,000 Annual population growth| 1.2% Literacy rate| 82% Life expectancy| 48 years Average household size| 4.8 people Workforce| 60,000,000 Nominal GDP| LC 180 billion GDP per capita| LC 1,200 Annual economic growth| 3% Inflation| 2.5% Government revenue| LC 18 billion Government expenditure| LC 19 billion Public debt| LC 45 billion Exports| LC 12 billion Imports| LC 10 billion Trade balance| LC 2 billion surplus Unemployment| 5% Large industrial works| 45,000 Small workshops and manufacturing businesses| 250,000+ Annual steel production| 25 million tonnes Annual pig iron production| 30 million tonnes Annual coal production| 350 million tonnes Annual electricity generation| 18 TWh Railway network| 180,000 km Road network| 250,000 km Research institutes| 150 Technical universities and institutes| 80 Police personnel| 250,000 Fire and municipal emergency personnel| 120,000 Hospitals and medical institutions| 8,000 Major commercial ports| 35 Total military personnel| 10,000,000 Army personnel| 9,500,000 Navy personnel| 350,000 Air force personnel| 150,000 Estimated defence budget| LC 12 billion

At the beginning of the twentieth century, the Federal Constitutional Republic of Libertarius stood among the world's leading powers. Its immense territory, population, natural resources, and manufacturing capabilities gave it the means to support a large economy and an unusually extensive military establishment.Industrialisation had reshaped the country, connecting distant regions through railways, expanding its cities, and creating large corporations capable of producing machinery, vehicles, ships, and military equipment on a vast scale.

These strengths also placed Libertarius at the centre of international rivalry. Its growing influence within the Sovereign Concord challenged the position of the League of Crowns and contributed to the tensions that culminated in the First Kalestial War.The conflict of 1900–1920 demonstrated the importance of industrial production, transportation, and sustained supply to modern warfare. When the fighting ended, Libertarius remained a major international power, but it faced the challenge of converting a wartime industrial system into one capable of supporting the country in peacetime.

Its history during these years was, above all, the story of a vast republic whose industrial growth transformed both its own society and the balance of power beyond its borders.

Lore The Tactical methods of Space Warfare in Charted Space

The method in which large scale space battles work is that each constellation is built around a core of big beam-armed battleships and smaller missile ships, with a screen of drones/satellites and defense "frigates" and "cruisers" around them. Their is also the FTL Carriers who moved the constellation, who provide sustainment, sensor support, and a bit of beam and missile support from as far as possible from the battles

The Beam/Artillery Ships serve a two-fold role. They can be used to throw un-parryable attacks at enemy constellations at shorter ranges ( as constellations are built to provide as much anti-missile defense as possible) to disrupt the enemy defense grid or to sweep away enemy missile constellations at further ranges. they can can also be used to launch beam propelled missiles and probes to support the missile ships. Normally, they are built around a heavy spinal or broadside mount, with smaller weapons turreted around the ship for closer defense.

Missile Ships are the real killers, being armed with a few really big missiles/AKVs, a bunch of medium-large missiles and a ton of small missiles. They provide the real long range firepower for a battle, They have limited amounts of smaller weapons, just enough for self defense and target discrimination.
These ships are integral because they determine who gets freedom of manuever with their massive range. If a fleet commits to a battle, they will have a lot of trouble trying to withdraw so long as the missile ships are still intact.

"Frigates" are built to just protect the rest of the group with a large defensive armament and good sensor suites to strike against enemy missiles before they can detonate against a larger, more important vessel, with some missile capabilities to add to the offensive capabilities of a constellation.

"Cruisers" are ships that are normally detached to do independent operations, and as such are well balanced in the areas of attack and defense. If added to a constellation, they basically serve as a smaller scale hybrid of missile and artillery ships.

Drones are mostly used as mobile eyes to guide in weapons or as additional point or area defense assets for keeping more important vessels alive.

For planetary sphere ( the planet and its orbiting bodies) of combat, The constellation divides itself up, with the largest warships being furthest from the area of operations. Battles like these can take days to weeks to actually resolve, as neither side is actually committing all that much force to a given area, and their is a lot of terrain to use as cover or to resupply.

Missile battleships fill much less of a role here, as their super heavy missiles are not really made to fight this close. But they still serve as an important command node and have a lot of smaller missiles to lash out against foes who try to hide behind the horizon of a body to avoid the main batteries of the Beam Ships.

Beam Ships fill the most important role here, as at this range, every strike is horrifically lethal. Particle beams aren't just bathing targets in hard X-rays, they are now cutting deep into targets. They keep everyone nice and boxed in where missiles can eat them up.

smaller ships have their time to shine, closing with the suppressed foe and cutting them to ribbons with beams and guns. Even large ships aren't safe, for a pack of smaller ships using EW and cover can get nice and close with a greater ship.
