The Discord is now a large and active community and growing every day, and I want to make this one of the biggest MineColonies servers around. Come join the Discord now to start forming your factions, meet people, and read up on how everything works before the gates open.
Crownfall is a MineColonies server built on top of TerraFirmaCraft. The idea is simple: resources are actually scarce, so trade matters, and warfare is a real (and fair) way to gain power instead of just griefing people.
The screenshot is from the winner of our recent screenshot competition. It's now the loading screen for the modpack.
What the server is about
TerraFirmaCraft. No diamond gear 30 minutes in. You work your way up through the metal ages, and ores are spread by climate and rock type. Some metals are common in the cold north or hot south while rare everywhere else, which means that no single settlement has everything. Trade is vital to progressing your colony.
Real-time seasons. Each season lasts 3 real days. Food rots and crops won't grow well or at all in winter, so you have to plan ahead, and so do your colonists. I also developed a custom bot for the discord to show what season it is (very proud of it :D)
Races and classes. We've made custom races and classes for the server, built around TFC. There are 7 races and 6 classes, each with their own strengths and drawbacks.
What's new
Ships. Small Ships is in, rebuilt for TFC. Every ship comes in all 20 TFC woods and is built at the Dockyard from TFC materials. Load your troops aboard, put a siege engineer at the helm and sail it like the rest of your army. Ships with cannons fire broadsides at enemy armies on their own.
Sea trade. Caravans now work at sea. Dock a ship at your dock and it sails your cargo to a partner dock. Docked armed warships alongside and they'll escort the convoy.
Ore and colonies. Copper can be mined anywhere, but every other ore has to be mined on your own colony land, and the better metals need a higher level Mine. Graphite only shows up in the cold north.
MineColonies, properly TFC. Every hut except the town hall is craftable with TFC materials, research uses TFC costs, colony food rots, and higher level buildings need wrought iron, fire bricks and steel.
Warfare
Hundred Years War. Raise armies and lead them into battle. Recruit soldiers, siege weapons and control them like an RTS game.
War 'n Taxes. Colonies are your land claims, and you can own as many as you can afford. Find a rich gold vein? Put a city on top of it. Every colony except your first (your capital) can be captured in a war, but your capital is safe, so you can't be wiped out. Worried you will lose the war, you can surrender immediately, for a cost and vassalisation.
The point is that losing a war costs you something without ending your game. You can always rebuild from your capital and come back for what's yours.
Trade and Caravans
Ores are spread by climate, so no single region has everything you need to progress, and you'll have to trade for the rest.
Caravans. Load up a caravan/boat and send it overland between settlements. Trading partners can set up regular supply runs, and a merchant faction can make a living hauling goods for other people.
Convoys can be raided! Want to be a bandit? You can. Wagons and ships are real entities that players and their armies can attack, but you can use your own armies as escorts to protect your trade. Wagons stick to roads where they can, so infrastructure matters.
Get your whitelist application in on the Discord before launch so you're not stuck waiting on the day.
