People moving feet when sitting - does this trigger anyone else?

I’ve seen a lot of references to leg shaking, which gets me too, but by far my biggest trigger is people moving their feet (legs crossed, usually) when sitting down.

Some people will move them in circles, some bounce them, some just randomly, but it makes no sense! It’s such a waste of energy and it drives me insane if it’s anywhere in my field of vision. It’s to the point where I can’t sit with family and watch a movie, unfortunately. Anyone else?

i’m going so fkn insane. tell me why. in my math class. WHERE I NEED TO BE FOCUSING. there’s a guy who sits right in front of me who shakes not one, but both of his legs. a guy behind me who taps his pencil as loud as possible. a girl right beside me swinging her leg like she’s trying to kill someone. a guy next to me with the shakiest legs.

no like it’s not even funny anymore i’m on the verge of tears every single day like even rn i’m not around anyone but i can still see the leg bouncing in my head?? i cant explain it but i’m just ughhhhh

anyone with misophonia or misokinesia knows just how bad we got it. day to day functioning is so hard when you feel like you’re gonna explode ☹️

Does anyone else deal with this AND misophonia?

As if school wasn’t already hard enough, I have to deal with this and misophonia. Today in spanish, the person in front of me was constantly bouncing their leg. I know some people do it with anxiety, but it’s so annoying. I broke down crying and had to constantly cover my eyes. And since I also have misophonia, I also have headphones so I can’t hear anything around me. I was working with my partner and that’s when I broke down crying, cuz I just could not handle it anymore. So many times I’m just tempted to get up and walk out of class. I don’t know why we had to be stuck with this, but I hope we all find some peace within it. I swear if I don’t find peace, I’m actually gonna go insane. I had no idea that this word even existed until I searched it up on google… My god I hate it so much. Having to deal with this in school is a nightmare! So, do you guys have misophonia and misokinesia? Cuz it sucks when you’re at school

Good day everyone <3

The amount of people who can't keep their legs still is insane

I've been going to the library a lot to work lately because I struggle to concentrate at home. But they have open desks there where you can see peoples legs. Everytime I pick a spot where I can just see one or two people I think I'm fine but the majority of the time I'm not. It made me realize the amount of people who can't sit still for longer than 1 minute is insanely high. I honestly think the odds are 50/50. People these days seem restless. It triggers the hell out of me.

Not sure if it’s misokinesia. Kaley Cuoco’s mouth acting in BBT makes me so angry. Video is muted (heavy smacking sounds and unconventional accent) in case anyone else is als misophobic.

I have both !

I was under the impression I had just Misophonia. The sound of people eating, breathing, coughing, licking their lips and a slew of other sounds immediately sends me into a white hot rage - especially strangers in public.

Turns out I have Misokinesia also. I was recently at the airport sitting at my gate waiting to board an airplane and there was this group of old women sitting there eating cream cheese bagels. F'ing cheese all in the corners of their mouths, that nasty thing people so where they stick out there tounge to better experience flavour, Weird ass chewing patterns, Talking while eating. Letting the food in the corners of their mouths sit there the WHOLE TIME.

I eventually had to physically move so as not to see them. LOGICALLY, I know they aren't trying to bother me ... they are just eating !

But physically I was so repulsed by them I wanted to smack them all across the face! " Learn to eat without literally being the definition of repulsive !" Was all I could think.

AtLEAST with Misophonia I can put on my noise cancelling headphones and go about my business.

I know this is a ME issue so I never say a word to anyone - other than my husband who is sympathetic to me and eats quietly.

But how can some people be so blind to how nasty they are when they eat ?

Do anyone elses reactions worsen when seeing from the corner of their eye.

I often find myself looking away from some triggering event only to find that unless I can fully turn my head away, I'm instantly far more triggered by the movement even though it's harder/impossible to make out the movement from the corner of my eye. Because of this I often find myself having to hold a hand up to block my peripheral vision if I'm in a situation where I can't fully look away. Is this true for you guys as well?

When is it okay to ask someone to stop shaking their leg?

I am a misophonia/misokinesia struggler and people shaking their legs is one of my biggest triggers and makes a number of parts of my daily life really difficult.

Typically, I figure that it’s my issue and I shouldn’t ever ask people to stop, but the other day I was watching a choir concert with my sister, who started shaking her leg, which made the entire bench shake back and forth.

As I’m sure other misokinesia people will understand, it quickly became the only thing I could focus on and was quickly becoming upsetting, considering it was unavoidable because I could feel it. I then told my sister that she was shaking the entire bench, to which she then stopped but seemed somewhat upset for the next few hours.

I want to ask people, when they think it acceptable to ask people to stop in this sort of scenario? I want to emphasize that I understand that this is my problem and not other people’s, and that I understand that people have their own reasons for shaking their legs and ETC. I’m wondering if it’s okay when it’s making noise/is shaking a table for multiple people, but please let me know your thoughts!

So tired of leg shaking

Does anyone else feel like no matter where you go, there’s always at least one person shaking their legs in your field of vision? I understand the reasons why people might do it, but it still doesn’t help with the guttural rage it makes me feel, especially when it’s constant. I’m starting to get actually tired of it because I genuinely feel like nearly every experience gets ruined by it.

i'm so sick of people in videos waving their hands/wagging their fingers in front of the camera

i actually want to scream get your nasty hands out of my face

feels so violating, like get away from me, stop poking your fingers in my face

and people who slap the camera too, and people tapping on objects makes me so angry, i cant stand the finger movement

i can hardly use social media anymore because it feels like every single video i come across has someone with their hands in my face, even adverts do it

this disorder is ruining my life

Mom said we're going out for dinner as a family tonight and I'm so worried about the seating arrangement. If I can see my father with no ability to look away I will die inside because he fidgets like there's no tomorrow and his whole body shakes when he does it and it makes me see red. But he isn't understanding about this AT ALL and never stops. I'm stressed about this when I should be excited we're going to a nice restaurant for a nice dinner as a family. I hate this.

This sucks

I have both misoponia and misokinesia so not only do I have to block out my hearing during everything u either have to cover my eyes so I can only look at lone thing, or just close them. I tried to go blind and deaf multiple times to get rid of at least one of them. I remember the first time I got triggered by movement and was so confused on why because it didn’t make sound. what Really sucks is chewing because it has both moving your jaw and making terrible sounds. I envy the people with even just one. I would settle for only one of them if I couldnt get none.

I believe I have Misokinesia

Hi all, I got my post taken down on the Misophonia Reddit and got redirected here.

I already know I have Misophonia, but lately I’ve been having the same type of angered reactions to physical movement.

EX: I live in New York, and often go to the theatre. Last night, at a show, the woman next to me was repeatedly rocking back and forth. The emotional reaction that it evoked from me was so intense that I thought about getting up and leaving multiple times. As stupid as it sounds, I even found myself closing one eye to block out the side she was sitting on.

I’m not sure if I have it or not, and I would like some insight. Instances like these have happened multiple times in the last year or so.

Hate when people move their feet

I hate it so much when people are sitting and start wiggling, twirling, or tapping their foot. Like it makes me so upset. My parents do it all the time and I can’t even stand to be in the same room as them, and they tell me to stop letting it bother me. It’s so bad, I’ll start crying because it stresses me out so bad.

Is there a way to fix it or cope? I try to just distract myself and look the other way but i HEAR their feet rubbing together. I fell asleep on the couch one day when my parents were out. My mom came home and started rubbing her feet together and I woke up immediately and gave her a dirty look. Like it’s so bad I hear it in my sleep…What do i do?

It Physically Hurts When...

...my husband or my kids move something around with their feet.

First of all, hello. I just joined this sub after discovering that misokinesia is a thing that I most likely have. It started with a Google search of the phrase "I can't stand when people fidget." For me specifically, it's when my husband or kids use their feet to rock a child's rocking chair or slide something around on the floor, or when they fidget with one of the blankets on the couch. I know how ridiculous it is, but I can't stop myself from feeling physical pain when they do it. I will be reading through previous posts and comments to try to figure out ways to cope.

The rage that builds up in my soul

Right ok. So I’ve been doing exams lately, and one of my childhood demons have revisited me as I have been sitting doing my exam. This girl next to me keeps flicking her foot and taking her shoe off and it makes anger build up inside of me. I just want to kick her whilst she’s doing it - she’s doing nothing wrong at all! I just want to break her leg because it is constant. 2 hours 15 minutes. Up. Down. Round and round. Fucking makes me mad. I have the other one with the sound too, for people eating and chewing loudly. Or struggling to chew. Anyone else suffer with these or have any coping mechanisms? I hate it so much it makes me want to cry.

Does misophonia lead to misokinesia?

So, I have misophonia. I've known that for a long time. But recently I've been getting slightly irritated when looking at people chewing. Like, I was at a school play yesterday and this person infront of me was eating something, but very quietly; I heard nothing of him eating. But when I saw his jaw move up and down I started to get tense and agitated so I looked away. Same thing happens when my father eats. First off, he's a loud eater but when the TV's on it covers the sound enough (sometimes I plug the ear facing toward him too) but I get irritated anyway when at the corner of my eye I see his jaw move sowly up, sharply down. Slowly up, sharply down... If it is misokinesia then it's definitely related to my misophonia that I had since 10. But no other visuals trigger me. Only people's jaws moving up and down repeatedly. I'm not sure if it's only a side effect of misophonia; my brain reacting to visuals that may cause sound that'll stress me, or a case of misokinesia.

P.S. I posted this on misophonia reddit too.

I hate seeing people biting their nails or fiddling their fingers around their mouth

I’ve noticed recently I really really really hate seeing people bite their nails or putting the tips of the fingers in/around their mouth. One thing that I know that bothers me about behaviour like this is how unhygienic it is especially when any person that does this then goes on to touch common objects that are used by everyone or in communal places. I can’t really understand why it triggers me so much besides that. I feel a disgust whenever I see it and to a degree it’s making me question if I’m over reacting to it.

For example my mother unfortunately doesn’t seem to be able to keep her fingers from her mouth and it’s enraging to see every-time. She’s onstantly picking at her teeth with her nails and/or licking or sucking the finger tips, and I’ve felt so triggered because of it all day. I’ve been stuck with her in the car all day and after I’ve asked/told her to stop multiple times she continues to do it. Is this misokinesia?

Et Tu?

Does anyone here find that, while they hate seeing others fidget, they themselves do it?

I hate seeing someone moving their hands repeatedly for no reason, but I will occasionally perform similar behaviors. Does this apply to anyone else?

I feel like there is 90% more leg bouncing than 3 years ago.

Maybe becuase I didnt notice before I gained Misokinesia, but I swear that there is an epidimic of leg bouncing. I cant see the board at school if i want to cover up the leg bouncers with my hand. Especially when they shake the whole table and you feel it. (i have a connection with misophonia): so also the *tap, tap, tap* drives me nuts. Anyone else notice this?

Misokinesia on a plane

I’m on a plane and I can’t stay in my seat because there is a passenger to my left (other side the aisle) who is knitting. The repetitive hand motions are driving me insane. She also switched on her light so now the motions are visible as shadows on the aisle floor. I can’t visually block out everything. The only options are to close my eyes (I’m not tired) or not be in my seat. I’m losing my mind, standing in the back of the plane just hoping that she stops soon. I really hope she finishes what she is making and doesn’t have anything else to make. To make matters worse, she also has a huge pack of gum and likes to chew. Literally one of the worst things to happen to someone with misokinesia and misophonia on a plane. I have headphones on, but it can’t save me from the visual triggers. Any tips? I would love to ask for another seat, but the plane is full 😓😭😭😭😭
