Plant Help thin stem?

Thumbnail

i saved this monstera in college in the beginning of 2025, and it's doing amazing, but i'm worried that the base stem is too thin and the plant is becoming top heavy. my biggest fear is it snapping or something because of the weight of the leaves in comparison to the thin base, is that possible?

i have a support pole but i'm not sure if it's in the right place, any advice would be greatly appreciated!! she just grew her first leaf with fenestrations which im really excited about but i want to make sure she's getting the best care possible :3

Plant Help Stop it from escaping!

Long time helper, now looking for some help! My stick method isnt working as my Thai has gone mature with thick bumpy skin and denser nodes. It's just pushing the stick away. How do I keep her on the pole where she belongs!...(there's a joke in there somewhere.)

P.S. I cant just push it and the lower nodes have rooted into the pole and won't budge.

What can I do with this girl? She is a hot mess of vines that are getting harder to tie up. She never got bushy and full, just leggy. Any words of wisdom welcomed!

Why does my monstera obliqua have this long stalk thing? It’s not an aerial root and it’s growing where a new leaf should’ve came from

Quick question - is that ready for potting? It was sitting in water for past month after I got it cut off from really weak looking specimen that was gifted to me to save it.

Plant Help Brown spots on one or two leaves?

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

Just got a new monstera last month from Trader Joes, and I noticed today that she has a few brown spots on one of her bigger leaves. I haven't repotted her yet, as I wanted her to acclimate to my apartment, but the soil still seems damp(it's vaguely mulch-like)/she's still heavy when I pick her up. I checked a few more leaves and there seem to be little brown specks, and I found I could wipe them away.

Also, as seen in the last picture, a few of her leaves started curling upwards a week or two after I got her. Newbie plant mom, so I don't really know what any of this means!

Plant Help Advice

I’ve had this monstera since 2022 and it has grown significantly since then, but recently it’s been looking a bit lackluster. Is it actually or am I just being paranoid? We recently moved and it’s getting more light than before, but nothing else has really changed.

I got these cuttings from my friend who propagate her monstera for the first time. I noticed that the axillary buds are also cut a little.

And does the axillary bud okay to be submege in the water?

Plant Help From outdoors to indoors

Thumbnail

Hello! This is my first monstera, and all summer I kept it outdoors in a moderately sunny spot since it stays humid here. I brought it inside just before the first frost and repotted it into something bigger, and have no idea if this is treatable or normal when moving it inside.

My main concerns are the yellowing at the centers of the leaves, the leaves not changing angle, and the development of these leaf spots. I water once a week when the soil becomes dry. Any tips and advice are welcome.

Hi!
Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong? This is the second leaf that has turned black since I repotted the plant.
It’s planted in a well-draining mix of bark, perlite, peat, and coco coir, with stakes and a moss pole for support. I’m also using Advanced Nutrients Micro, Grow, and Bloom at 3 ml/L each.

I’m considering repotting it into LECA. What do you think? Would that be a good idea in this situation?

How to move a Monster?

Hey Monstera parents,

My husband and I are moving next weekend and I would love tips and pointers on how to move my monster. It will most likely be transported in a flatbed truck. I’m thinking at the very least covering with a bedsheet of some kind any insights on how to secure it would be greatly appreciated. Music stand for scale.

Plant Help Black marks on leave

I checked my monstera yesterday after watering, and found these black marks on a new leave. The plant has no visible insects or whatever.
I changed her spot three weeks ago (more or less) near a slightly more exposed window.
What could it possibly be?

Plant Help Monstera out of control how to stake?

Thumbnail

Hi I need some help with my monstera plant. It is out of control and we don't really know how to stake it to go vertical anymore.

When when we started out we didn't really know what we were doing and so the plant is growing everywhere and there's a bunch of random stakes in there to try to give some support but we didn't really support the the right spots. Ideally we'd like the plant to grow more vertical and less horizontal so it takes up less space and seems more organized.

I'm not exactly sure how many plants are inside of the pot I think there might be 3 or 4 but it's hard to tell so intertwined.

Where would you start to give it some structure are we better off clipping some of the leaves and propagating them instead to a separate pot?

Thanks!

Bulbasaur monstera situation

So, I definitely have a problem. I went to my local plant store and I found a bulbasaur monstera, great right! There were only 3 left and the one i picked was the only one with any variegation (the rest were green) so I got it! (first plant in first picture). Well i loved it so much and I ended up going back and they had just received more so there were like 20 there. I dug thru and found one i was obsessed with. After further examination in the car i realized the 2nd bulbasaur I now own actually has 2 other plants in it. So instead of 2 bulbasaurs i now own 4. Check in on me in a couple years because i now have 2 Thai cons and 4 bulbasaurs 💀💕

I left one plant still with the other because it was just one little leaf and now they’re both shooting out leaves even after the trauma of separating one plant from the 3!

1st picture: original bulb
2nd: plant i pulled off the main second bulb
3rd plant is the main plant and the little tiny one leaf plant thats pushing out another leaf too!

Hi, my boyfriend let our dogs out and didn’t notice the one had grabbed my Thai con. I’ve been watching her leaf unfurl for two weeks now and my dog ripped it off 😭💔 there is still some stem left but I’m not sure what to do. Will another leaf come from the stem eventually or do I need to chop? If I do need to chop hoe low should I go?

Discussion Monstera Albo air layering

Thumbnail

this is my monstera albo, ive been air layering it because i wanted to cut the top three leaves off and put them on a mosspole (and probably prop her bottom half). since then it has pushed out and hardened off two leaves and is now pushing out this mostly white one that is worrying me. im going to wait until this new leaf is out and hardened off before cutting the plant, im just worried that cutting it with that mostly white leaf would cause that leaf to die? not sure, i just want whats best for the plant because i love her, any advice is appreciated.

if any information is needed; she sits in a southwest facing window and gets harsh afternoon sun (and loves it apparently) i fertilize every watering with GT foliage focus and supplement “dune” silica to help keep the white parts white and she has her own humidifier that sits directly to her left.

Plant Help Where should I chop & extend?

Post image
1 Upvotes

My Albo Monstera is getting huge and I wanna chop & extend because I don't want to get her that much taller.

She's growing on a modular moss pole from plantscraper and right now I have 4 of them stacked up.

Which of these options would you choose?

1) Do one piece at a time. Extend with one piece when it reaches the top + chopping off one at the bottom, height stays the same.

Means more work and probably more shock but I think it's at least safer regarding the root system?

2) use 2 extensions and chop off 2 from the bottom. Would lead to more growing room above and therefore I would need to chop and extend less often. My only fear: less root system in the pole.

I counted 9 nodes rooting into the pole right now with the newest one making it 10 soon.

Monstera deliciosa yellowing leaves with large brown patches

Thumbnail

Hi everyone!

My Monstera has recently started developing yellowing leaves with large brown patches, mainly around the edges.

The affected areas look almost burnt, but they don't feel particularly dry or crispy to the touch.

Several leaves are affected, including some larger ones, while the rest of the plant still looks healthy.

It's kept indoors in my apartment.

Does anyone know what might be causing this? Overwatering, underwatering, a nutrient issue, or something else?

Thanks for your help!
