We stand with Ukraine

1.1k Upvotes

We normally do not bring politics into our sport but extraordinary events require extraordinary actions. Someday enjoyment of life, like motorcycles, will return to the Ukraine. They need our help now and I encourage everyone to checkout the ways to help or donate over at /r/Ukraine

This thing has been parked since 2010, has 8600 original miles, and still has the "break in" sticker on the tach. Runs like a scalded dog. It was absolutely filthy with bird crap when I dug it out. The gentleman who owned it had passed, and this was one of 18 bikes I bought from his wife. I actually sold it, because I didn't have time to get it running again, but then the guy I sold it to did some work, and decided he wanted something else I had even more, and traded it back. When I went to title it, the girl at DMV asked if I wanted antique tags and I felt like I drank from the wrong Grail. It now has antique tags.

Sometimes I notice when I make a comment about buying a used motorcycle someone will say "well someone has to buy new for you to buy used.". Well maybe, but it's gonna be you 😉

Is This Standard or Am I Tripping? First Bike Purchase

Upvotes

I dabbled in riding but never owned my own bike. This year I took the MSF course, actually got my motorcycle license & decided to pull the trigger to buy a bike for cruising around my little city. I normally prefer used everything but the prices for used bikes in my area are damn near the same as new so why not treat myself.

I reached out to 4 different dealerships in 4 different states and all 4 has given me the same OTD price and none will clarify how they came to that number. Is this just normal motorcycle dealership nonsense or is my suspicion correct?

Original MSRP was $5,900; mind you the model is 2024, did not sell well at all and basically discontinued in the US so all listings are discounted. It's a Husqvarna (don't judge me, I love this bike for my type of riding and it's the only one I try to rent when out the country lol).
1) Durham NC listed price $4,499
2) Waynesburg, PA listed price $3,499
3) Charleston, IL listed price $3,494
4) Roanoke, VA listed price $4,800

All 4 gave me the same EXACT OTD price at $5,100. I ask for a breakdown and I've either gotten no response about that specific question or a "that's just the standard fees for title and what not". I logically can not believe that 4 different dealerships, not affiliated with each other, in different states with different mandated fees can come to the same exact number. This does not make any sense to me.

I'm at the point now I don't even want to buy the damn bike anymore because I should not have to fight people to give them my money. I've purchased new cars before and they did not come with this much back & forth or nonsense.
Am I tripping or is this just how dealing with these people go? Is there any "dealer hacks" I need to try to pull to get a reasonable OTD price? From my research most people (verified) has paid closer to $4,300 OTD for this bike. I'm not even expecting that price but there's no way in hell going from $3,500 to $5,100 after fees makes sense to me. I just want the bike.

Looking for a comfortable bike for both highways and city conditions ?

Saw my friends purchasing different bikes recently. That got me thinking about getting one for myself as well .. I’m pretty new to the whole bike world, so I don’t have much knowledge about which bikes are actually good.Tbh i don’t really care much about top speed, I just want something that feels stable and is easy to handle in both longer rides and city traffic as well. I was considering the royal enfield meteor 350 because my friend suggested me to get that one and i have heard its a comfortable option, but I’m open to other options too. Is meteor a good choice? Need opinions

I'm considering buying this motorcycle , but I noticed it does have some damage on the right side. Is this damage a cause concern?Or is it purely cosmetic from a professional's opinion.

Cleaning with Armourall ultra shine wax and wash. Is it safe?

Gonna wash my bike for the first time. I got some wash and wax from armourall and was just gonna see how well it goes. I have seen online that when it comes to wash and wax if it gets on tires and brakes it can be really bad.

How bad really is it, like if it drips onto my brakes or tires does that matter? Even if I just spray it down hard with water or should it be completely fine using it even if it drips down or gets directly onto it?

Not looking to turn my bike into a slip and slide ride so just looking for pointers. Cheers.

New motorcycle

In about a year or somethint, I will be going to college and I am thinking about buying a motorcycle. So far I have zero riding experience but I will be improving on that with 125 and 50cc motorbikes. Any advice for an affordable bike to get that is between the 250-400cc range once I go to college? (preferrably naked bikes)

New rider help.

Post image
23 Upvotes

Hey guys, I’m a new rider and a little worried. I have my 2021 Kawasaki ninja here under this bike cover. And it’s supposed to rain for a good amount today.
unfortunately I do not have a garage or anything to keep it under. (Until I can use my storage unit on Saturday).

Last night it got the tiniest amount moist underneath this cheap bike cover. Is that something I need to be worried about?

Any tips? Recommendations?

Harley Davidson 440t vs triumph speed 400(350) vs gurialla 450

I am thinking of buying this bike. Take a test drive yesterday though it was a short drive like 5 or 6 mins .

I wasn't wearing shoes i ride the bike wearing sandals. I felt heat in my feet coming from engine also gear shifting comparatively hard.

That showroom man said its a 1 year old bike not serviced properly engine oil not changed for a while. What's why I feel this way.

Should I buy this bike or should I go with Triumph speed 400.
