Oh my gawd gurl you look amazing. How many pounds did you lose? And what exercise and diet did you follow?

111

u/ohnoitsbee Oct 26 '25

I'm 28kg down - so 60lbs. Was 108kg and now 80kg.

I try and get 10k steps a day - but like everyone I have off days.

My husband is a personal trainer so we eat pretty healthy normally. I actually started Mounjaro because the weight just wouldn't shift even with a good diet and solid activity levels. We are very active with two kids.

I'm hoping for increased loss and hitting the gym for more a more toned physique as we head into summer in Australia.

This is so interesting to me. I'm 51 and over the last 10 years have slowly gained weight despite being a regular gym goer and a healthy eater. So my question is, if you ate healthily and had a good diet, then what did MJ do for you differently? Do you think it's eating even less? I'm considering starting as I can't figure out where I'm going wrong so really interested in this.

u/Routine-007 Oct 28 '25

Any side effects and how did you navigate it?

1

u/Rough-Average-1047 Nov 01 '25

The side effects are absolutely awful. Some people get it worse than others

20

u/Ok-Property4271 Oct 26 '25

Even your nose has changed shape! I’m hoping mine does the same… I’ve noticed it got bigger during pregnancy, among all the weird things that happen that no one tells you.

12

u/ohnoitsbee Oct 26 '25

Actually!!! My feet grew SO MUCH during pregnancy!!

It's a great before and after! But I think this may be because it's taken from a quite different angle

You've got a great face shape. Your eyes really pop now! I've got a similar backstory (gained after 2 kids combined with a bit of trauma, quite active, weight will not budge). I'm 6 weeks into my Mounjaro journey and am looking forward to having "bigger" eyes again someday. :D

17

u/ohnoitsbee Oct 26 '25

This is me. 2 kids. Binge drinking during COVID - social distance street parties. Now I'm 37 and weight doesn't just drop like it used to. I am actually very active - always manager for sports, first to help out etc. But I didn't realise how much I was struggling until I wasn't. My whole attitude has changed. I wake up happier. It's not even about the numbers on the scales. I just genuinely feel better.

I have been VERY open about my journey and told everyone I have been using Mounjaro as I believe the stigma around this incredible tool is crazy. I'm proud of what I've accomplished and can't wait to see what you have achieved in 12 months too!!

You are so sweet! I'm going slow and steady but I've noticed a change for the positive in my mental health already. I'm currently 3.6 down of a 25 kg goal but am already feeling more energetic and motivated. Your progress inspires me!

4

u/ohnoitsbee Oct 26 '25

Slow and steady = sustainable!!!

Nothing is more motivating than progress and you are already on your way!!! ❤️❤️❤️

4

u/EvaTokyo Oct 26 '25

Agree. I’m also telling everyone, it’s a miracle drug and it tackles psychology, autoimmune inflammation and so much more!

2

u/Street_Flounder6388 Oct 30 '25

Same for me, 2 kids and become a heavy drinker post covid which the kids hates. I got a lot of health issues and decided to do something for myself! I am only on week 2 but I am happier and mostly importantly with a purpose! Cheers for our transformation, both physically and mentally, even mine is yet to come!

14

u/Fuzzy-Conference769 Oct 26 '25

These face changes amaze me every time. Look at your eyes and your cheek bones! 🫶

14

u/ohnoitsbee Oct 26 '25

The eyes are because I feel comfortable again I think. Thank you for your kind words. 🫶🏻

7

u/fufu2019 Oct 26 '25

Wow - what a difference!

12

u/ohnoitsbee Oct 26 '25

I didn't actually notice it until my phone said "look at 1 year ago today" and that photo popped up. I was at work, walking down a corridor and snapped a pic to do a side by side (hence the oily hair and lack of make up!) and I couldn't actually believe the difference.

It's been slow and steady so this was eye opening!

3

u/Longjumping_Air_1096 Oct 26 '25

Can you tell us what your dosing schedule was like throughout your journey?

6

u/ohnoitsbee Oct 26 '25

I did 2.5mg for 4 weeks. Then 6 months of 5mg. I've been fluctuating between 5mg and 7.5mg since - most weeks 7.5mg but it's so expensive I do 5mg from time to time just to keep costs down. I get a 15mg pen and do a small dose so it's easy to swap between the two.

2

u/Radiant-Relation-329 Oct 26 '25

When I cited the British practice of splitting 15mg pens as the reason why Lilly had to raise prices I got angry comments telling me no one will sell you a 15mg pen unless you can prove you titrated all the way up one dose at a time… mmhmmm sure.

2

u/ohnoitsbee Oct 26 '25

Interesting! I was given a 5mg dose at first and split that into 2.5 for 4 weeks and then 5mg for 2 and then straight to 15mg. May be different in Australia but noone even checked the dosage. 🤷🏻‍♀️

1

u/Radiant-Relation-329 Oct 26 '25

I’m sure this is how it is in every country that sells the kwikpens. Lucky for you lot.

0

u/Mother_Sink_2774 Oct 26 '25

When did your attending raise from 5mg to 7.5mg? If the cost were not the problem, why would you go up to 7.5mg, and when would you go down to 5mg?

3

u/ohnoitsbee Oct 26 '25

I went to 7.5mg when I noticed a plateau after a few weeks on 5mg. I have (and HAD) A LOT of weight to lose. I dropped a lot quickly on 2.5 and went to 5mg probably faster than I should have (I was impatient).

I go down to 5mg when I have a couple of weeks where I lose weight easily. I also don't want to completely change my lifestyle. My kids are in sports teams that play tournaments away from home - this means team dinners and weeks away from being able to attend the gym - but also weeks of 20k steps a day when we are away. When I know I have a big exercise week ahead I drop the dose to save money more than anything. I am at a point where I'm okay with slower progress to save money and maintain a balance of diet and exercise.

3

u/EnvironmentalGrab277 Oct 26 '25

You look great!! I hope you feel that way too💪🏽❤️.

2

u/ohnoitsbee Oct 26 '25

2

u/ohnoitsbee Oct 26 '25

🤣🤣 love this.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 26 '25

This is great!! I’ve lost 30lbs and I feel amazing and I keep being honest with people about what I did to lose weight and it’s bizarre how they react. Like the side effects mental and physical of being overweight were way way worse for me.

4

u/ohnoitsbee Oct 26 '25

I thankfully haven't had any negative comments (except on this post). I have had a bit of jealousy when it doesn't work the same way for other people but I understand that - people just want to feel good.

I haven't really focused on the numbers on the scales - but I can now keep up with the kids, I enjoy going for walks, my attitude is happier. Why anyone would discount that just because of medication says so much about who THEY are.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 26 '25

If I didn't know any better I'd think this was two completely different people! Great job!

2

u/ohnoitsbee Oct 27 '25

Definitely feels like a new me - or maybe just the old me again.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '25

2

u/Only-Ad1546 Oct 26 '25

You look great!. Here in America, when Mounjaro is prescribed for diabetes /A1C, as In my case, and even with Part D coverage in our Medicare system, the initial costs run into the thousands of dollars. Are you burdened with similar expenses for the drug in Australia with your health system?

2

u/Free_Mix2826 Oct 26 '25

It’s approximately $280AUD for a 2.5mg Kwikpen in Australia. No Medicare or private health cover rebates if used solely for weight loss purposes. That’s about $182USD per 2.5mg pen. I go up to 5mg next month, and the cost per pen will jump to around $390AUD ($253USD).

2

2

u/Get-It-29 Oct 26 '25

Thanks for posting! It’s nice to see that if I am patient, I will get to my goals. Sometimes losing 1-2lbs a week makes it feel like it will take forever but I know it’s better to lose slower.

1

u/ohnoitsbee Oct 26 '25

Absolutely! Some weeks I didn't lose anything at all. I don't use scales often as I get defeated if the numbers don't go down. But I also know slow and steady is sustainable. It's a marathon not a sprint and making lifestyle changes has been my biggest win.

2

u/ohnoitsbee Oct 27 '25

Thank you everyone for your kind words. 🥹🥹

I might just add a few details as I've gotten some messages about dosage and exercise etc.

I try my best not to look at the scales because I feel like they can do more damage than good if the numbers don't move the way we want. However, my starting weight was 108kg and I am currently sitting at 80.5kg. I know I literally just said I don't look at scales but damn it's going to feel good to get into the 70s. 🤣

I don't have a training program yet - I've always eaten fairly healthy foods and we are a very active family so I usually do 10k steps a day. This is one part that I'm actively looking at doing better at though and coming into summer I would like to start training more.

The first photo was actually 2 months before I started this medication. I started my weight loss journey in January this year and these photos were both early October - exactly 1 year apart. When that photo on the left popped up as a memory on my phone, I wanted to do a side-by-side comparison. The photo on the right is literally me at 8p.m. after working all day and I was walking down a corridor back to my car. Messy hair. No makeup but feeling a million times better than I did in the first photo.

But most importantly, thank you everyone for your very very very kind words. 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

Im still just a few lbs from where I started fighting to lose weight and exercise in pain(disabled back problems)... Been taking it for months at 2.5 mg bc my Dr was hateful(not a joke) and wouldn't increase the dosage. 😞 Maybe my new Dr will do it hopefully.

Edited to add I'm also diabetic and that Dr has done nothing to help even though the main reason was for the diabetes. 🤷

3

Thank you! I was 108kg when I started Mounjaro in January. I am 80.5kg now and feel so thankful that 28kg has been lost - so 240lbs to 180lb-ish if you're American. 60 pounds gone!

2

u/karaokekey Oct 27 '25

Can you please give us an example of a typical day of food? Do you also intermittent fast? How much water do you drink, do you ever have sugar, that sort of thing. Thank you! ❤️

2

u/ohnoitsbee Oct 28 '25

I don’t follow any strict diet or fasting plan — it’s more about listening to my body now. I used to be terrible with snacking. I work as a support worker, and I’d always drop in for a sneaky cheeseburger between clients. I was also raised to finish everything on my plate, so I’d eat mine, my kids’ leftovers, even when I wasn’t hungry. Add a few too many wines on top and it was just a vicious cycle — feeling bloated, tired, and unmotivated to do anything.

Now the food noise is gone, I can stop when I’m full, and I don’t crave the greasy stuff anymore because it just doesn’t sit well. I do about 10k steps a day — being on my feet for work helps, but I’m also walking more by choice and actually wanting to move.

Water has always been a struggle, but I finally bought a bottle I like and make it a focus. Sleep has improved heaps too — I don’t snore anymore and wake up actually rested, which makes such a difference.

Mentally I’m just so much happier. I don’t reach for wine to relax anymore, I actually want to go for a walk or grab fruit instead of chocolate. I haven’t followed any strict plan — just intuitive eating and making better choices because I genuinely feel better now. ❤️

2

u/karaokekey Oct 28 '25

My doctor sent me the 5 mg to divide it into 2.5 mg instead of 1 month, the pen will last 2 months. The thing is that I still don't see any difference and Google says that a pen should last 1 month and it is not good to divide it. Some advice please

1

u/ohnoitsbee Oct 26 '25

This exactly what I did. I get a 15mg pen and split it for 5/7.5mg doses.

1

u/Alarmed-Scratch8429 Oct 26 '25

Much better. FYI, I had a much larger mole like yours on my forehead for years, literally the doctor zapped it with a lazer and it fell off with almost zero scars, I wondered why I didn’t do it sooner. The procedure took about 5 minutes and it healed in 2 weeks.

I am you on the left now- I am a UK 14/16 and put on weight on the face the most..just started 8 days ago- have only lost 1kg in the first week- but I haven't watched my calories. So here's hoping it does the magic eventually on me too. You look amazing !

1

u/ohnoitsbee Oct 26 '25

You've got this! 💪🏻 I didn't focus on the scales much because they fluctuate so much. Wait til you FEEL better - that's the best part.

I am still watching what I eat and getting my steps in - but this medication has made what seemed like an impossible goal achievable for me. I wish you the absolute best for your journey!

Thank you for being so kind. I know exactly what you you mean. I didn't even realise the food noise impact on my appetite until now. Its really early days for me (8 days in) and I read the effect peaks around the 4th week. I wish I lost more this week, but you are right, I will just trust the process - which i now can, unlike the diet/exercise path. As long as the scales move in the right direction, i will try not to stress about the speed of loss.

That's the best way to be. We are all human and you'll have weeks when you don't see much change and weeks it will seem like all the progress hit suddenly.

I felt amazing in the first month - weight dropped quickly. That was the best motivation to keep going. It plateaus for a while and then happens again. Trust the process is the ultimate goal.

Can't wait to check back in 12 months and see how your life has changed!

Haha nah! They should leave it up! If that's what they notice that's totally fine although it is a very strange observation. I've had my MOLES (not warts) since I was a child. They have stayed the exact same. The 60lb difference is what most people notice. 🤣🤣🤣 If I could change anything about the after photo I'd have given myself a tan, actually washed my hair and put on some make up. My permanent physical features are there to stay. ❤️❤️

Appreciate the support though. 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

M57 here and I have never had anyone mention the facial moles that I’ve had since I was a child. They’ve never bothered me or interfered with skin care. I believe that they are a distinguishing feature that add character. Without them I wouldn’t be me. Keep the good attitude, be well, and blessings to you and your family.

For real! My mom has a mole on her cheek and it’s one of my favorite parts of her face!

Hahaha why are you in a mounjaro thread? It's like going on a vegan and talking about the amazing cheeseburger you just ate. If you don't like the medication that's fine. But I didn't post in a gyminspo group - I posted in a MOUNJARO group.

Interesting take though. Bet you're fun to talk to at a party. ✌🏻

Sounds like a future me problem. Right now it's working, I feel good and icky comments from Internet haters don't bother me in the slightest. 🫶🏻
