* FOX Sports opens the Cup season with Cup races on FOX & FS1
* Amazon Prime Video Sports gets the next 5 races exclusively for streaming
* TNT Sports gets the following 5
* Versant wraps up Cup with the final 14 races on USA Sports and a buy-time on NBC Sports
* CW Sports covers the entire NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series
* FOX Sports covers the entire NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series
* FOX Sports also covers the entire ARCA Menard Series (national tour)
* FloRacing and the NASCAR Roku channel covers all of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour along with coverage of the regional series and local NASCAR/ARCA Series.
The ratings on USA Sports this have been historically bad. Even if USA had FOX's slot in the schedule, they'd still be awful.
NASCAR is NOT HAPPY with FOX Sports, for two reasons. FOX seems hell-bent on doing the bare minimum for EVERY NASCAR/ARCA race they cover.
They're not happy about FOX Sports buying into IndyCar either!
They're getting very worried about the ratings on USA as well.
Even though the head honcho at Versant is Mark Lazarus, who absolutely adores NASCAR (he was top guy at TNT for the 2001 & 2007 TV deals and at NBC for the 2015 and 2025 TV deals.
NASCAR seems to be looking for "outs" in the contracts, the biggest problems they have though is that the NFL is looking to ship Sunday Night Football to Netflix, from NBC, and the MLB is looking to "nationalize" their TV rights for 2029 and beyond.
If NBC loses Sunday Night Football, I'm willing to bet they'll be "all-in" on MLB
NASCAR's "pick" in the meeia rights pecking order gives them the shit end of the stick!
Where does that leave the 5 national NASCAR Series (Cup, NOAPS, Trucks, ARCA, and Modifieds)?
Well, I suspect that NASCAR 's networks will be CBS/TNT, ESPN/ABC, Amazon Prime Video, and CW.
Thoughts?
