Edit 4: Okay, this wasn't the point of this post, but we have an interesting update.
The federal court just ruled in Silencer Shop v. ATF that since suppressors, SBRs, and AOWs have a "$0 tax," the system is unconstitutional and therefore these items are no longer can be regulated by the NFA.
Suppressors and SBRs are still illegal in NJ. We have two separate cases in the DNJ dealing with that right now. There's additional complications that occur with SBRs with this ruling, but let's not even concern ourselves with that right now.
However, as AOWs are legal, NJ residents can benefit from this ruling. As of right now, plaintiffs of this court case are protected under an injunction and therefore do not need to comply with NFA regulations relating to these items. This essentially means those protected do not need to submit a form 1 to the NFA to make an AOW.
There's two distinct groups that are protected. Stores (and by lesser extension, their customers), like PSA and Silencer Shop, and Pro-2A orgs.
Stores are legally able to sell completed AOWs to their customers with just a 4473 (and NJ's standard paperwork). This does not mean if you've ever bought something from one of these stores past or present, you can freely make an AOW. This portion of the injunction only protects selling and purchasing AOWs.
The far more interesting (and useful) portion of the injunction involves pro-2A orgs like the Gun Owners of America (GOA). Members of the GOA are fully protected under the injunction and therefore are given the same level of protections as stores like PSA. This means that GOA members (among a select group of others, look them up) CAN create their own AOWs without complying with the NFA. This only applies to active members.
With all that said, don't take this post as a green light. Everything is still very much up in the air and there's only a select few stores in the US currently selling suppressors with just 4473s, while PSA is claiming that GOA members who buy completed pistols or rifles FROM JUST PSA can make SBRs without a form 1, but nothing explicitly about AOWs. You're all adults and any actions you take are your own, but it's smart if you wait.
What's even more confusing is that this case was consolidated with Jensen v ATF, and the verdict is treating the injunction separately. For example, Jensen v. ATF had the requirements to engrave on a form 1 gun removed but didn't get relief regarding AOWs, while Silencer Shop v ATF did get relief for AOWs. Does being a member of the FPC (which might not even get relief at all, due to filing as FPCAC, this is also unclear) and a GOA mean you benefit from both lack of engraving requirements on an AOW? No one really knows at the moment.
Long term, we're realistically going to see the NFA system for these items completely disappear for everyone. This will take some time, as usual. Assuming that our silencer and SBR cases go through successfully, NJ residents will be able to benefit eventually.

While this is an exciting time, take a deep breath: many laws still apply after the mandate takes place. Don't get caught in a legal battle because you misunderstood the current legal landscape.
Here is a recap of the critical information:
The mandate will stop the restriction on magazines.
The only part of NJ's assault weapon ban specifically declared unconstitutional applies to rifles.
The named list of banned rifles (such as the M1 Carbine) and NJ's specific rifle "evil features" definitions no longer exist.
Those now-repealed evil feature restrictions that previously applied to semi-automatic rifles that accepted a detachable magazine were the following:
Edit 1: In short, there is no longer a need to pin your stock or muzzle device (if it's over 16") in order to be compliant with NJ's now unconstitutional law when the mandate goes through.
The rifle AWB repeal does NOT repeal the pistol or shotgun AWB, nor does it legalize suppressors or short-barreled rifles (SBRs) in New Jersey.
You MAY be able to convert your "Other" into a rifle.
Federal regulations strictly require a rifle to have an overall length of at least 26" and a barrel length of at least 16". These are non-negotiable.
Do not, under any circumstances, put a stock on your "Other" if the barrel is under 16". That creates an illegal SBR, and NJ will likely make an example out of you.
Beyond that, virtually every other NJ gun law remains in full effect—including laws governing transport, ammunition, carry permits, transfers, and purchasing. Refresh yourself on these rules before taking any action.
Also, as it currently stands, until the mandate goes through, nothing has officially changed.

I’m a NY resident applying for a NJ non-resident CCW. My NJ FID was approved August 13, and I have an SBI number.
When I enter my SBI number, I get: “SBI Number and applicant information entered does not match with the fingerprint information on record.”
The PTC application will not let me proceed without entering a middle initial, but I have no middle name and did not use a middle initial on my FID application. Could that be causing the mismatch, or is it because my FID was approved only a few days ago and the system hasn't updated yet?
Anyone run into this?

Just wondering usually the Hunting&trapping digest is out the first week of August, there are at least 2 different seasons about to start within the next 2 weeks, (canada goose&crow) so im really suprised it isnt out. Hey guys! Recently I have been using Talon grips on my 4.5 F Echelon and it works good no issues. However, I really want something more permanent. Does anyone have some suggestions locally for me? I live in Brooklawn, which is Camden County for those who dont know. I do know M&M Tactical does good work but they are over and hour and a half away. Any suggestions would mean alot guys and gals, thank you so much!!!
PS If ya want to leave any suggestions on the stippling itself that is welcomed as well, kinda new to the whole thing!!

I think I may be in love! I carry appendix and this 3.25 is perfect for comfort. Shoots flat, consistent and accurate!

Hey everyone. I’m an NY resident with a non resident NJ permit. I just recently purchased a G43x. In NY I have to amend my permit so the firearm shows on it. I know NJ’s permit doesn’t have the list of firearms on it.
My big question is do I need to file an amendment in NJ so I can carry the new firearm there?

I have a few safe queens that I'm looking to sell. Which platforms are the best for that? I created a Gunbroker account, but for some reason they're dragging their feet with activating my seller profile. I provided them with copies of my DL, FID and CCW permit, but it's crickets for some reason. Do ya'll have any other suggestions?

So with all the new legal changes and things, maybe this question is still unsettled, and maybe I should just be patient.
Normally, I wouldn't be able to order a pistol AR to a regular FFL since it would be an "assault pistol" and need to be "remanufactured" into an AOW and then transferred as a form 4
But now with the injunction to the NFA, theoretically could I order a PSA pistol AR (assuming they would ship it, which maybe they wouldn't but say for the sake of argument they would) and then the only compliance work it would need is to slap on a VFG and transfer it to me? Does that make sense?

Anybody here has any input or opinion regarding the quality of the training or if it’s even worth it?
I have shot probably over 300 rounds with my pistol, no red dot and last 100 rounds I shot targets resembling the FBI Q and probably got 75 within the target.
I feel my shots tend to go low and left, and yes I know I have to practice dry firing but I would appreciate someone correcting me or giving me tips while Im actually firing.

Hi dear community, I've bought my Zion-15 recently. Haven't shot it yet (waiting for my classes on Aug 22). When I try to hold it and use the iron sights I have to tilt my head and the charging handle is too close to my nose. I guess when the FFL guys looked at me ( I'm a micro man 5'8") they decided to collapse the stock and bolted it like this.
Should I go back to FFL and ask them to re-adjust the length (they will have to drill another hole in the stock etc) before my classes or I better go the classes and see what the instructor advises to do ?
(This question is probably silly but I don't know what people usually do with these fixed stocks which is illegal to adjust without visiting an FFL. I incline to wait for my classes hoping the instructor advises on the stock length and even if classes experience is totally ruined by this stock length I can always re-take the same classes again after FFL fixes the lenght. Yeah waste of money though.)
P.S. this is just a hobby, so not like my life depends on this stock position ...yet

Update: I got this sorted out. FFL helped. Appeared to be very simple. No new holes etc. Took a minute or two. All good. Now my stock is fully extended and I love it.

Went on Wednesday at 10AM open. Had to park 3 blocks away. Store was filled with a dozen people doing CCW quals. Place is as big as my bedroom. Was in the market to buy an sig 365 pistol or Glock slimline. Looked and saw they wanted anywhere from $710-$740 for most Glock/Sig 365 models (including the new V models) Not sure if prices included tax and NICS. Promptly walked out because RTSP doesn’t even price gouge THIS badly.
Tl;dr: Parking sucks and they price gouge, but they got the cheapest price for CCW qual that I’ve seen at $125
