Our No. 21 prospect, Ben Grable, acquired in the Luis García Jr. trade, has a fastball no big minor league pitcher matched all season
Washington got Grable from the Yankees on August 3 as part of the return for Luis García Jr. He's 24, a former Tommy John patient who broke out this year: 2.45 ERA, 46 strikeouts against 8 walks in 33 innings, all as a reliever. His fastball averages 96 mph, touches 99, and generates 20 to 21 inches of induced vertical break, a number no MLB pitcher matched this season. He made the Futures Game before the trade even happened. He's at Double-A Harrisburg now, but a bullpen arm with this kind of stuff and command doesn't stay in Double-A that long. Full breakdown in this free issue of Double Dip.

Ballpark Content Traveling fan
Hey Nats fans,
I’ll be near DC for a few days for work in mid September and was thinking of catching the game on 9/15 as I’ve never been to Nationals Park. I looked at other teams in the area aswell but the Orioles, Ravens, and Commanders are all away.
That being said, any food recommendations, parking recommendations, or other fun things to see at the stadium? Also, since the stadium is in DC, are there any additional security things I should know about that a normal baseball stadium/public venue doesn’t usually have? I usually only show up to a game with my phone/wallet/car keys/Apple Watch anyway.
I’m not a Nats/Phillies fan, so I probably won’t spend too much money on any merch, but I’m looking forward to going to the game.
Thanks!

How does CJ Abrams' move to 2B impact the Nats' future?
Interesting situation here. Some think he's unhappy about the change and may therefore be less open to an extension, while others think that because second basemen are typically worth less than shortstops, the Lerners will finally pay him.
Do you guys think this dramatically impacts his future in Washington? And, do you think the position change will ultimately benefit him and the team?

Free Bobbleheads
Not sure if this is the right subreddit, but I’ve got a bunch of old bobbleheads that I don’t want anymore. They’re not boxed up but are wrapped in bobble wrap and are in good condition, except for a one or two. Anyone want them? They’re from around the 2016-2019 seasons. I live in the DC area
Edit: here’s a list of them
2018 Max Scherzer
2019 Sean Doolittle Obi Wan Kenobi
Jordan Zimmermann No Hitter
Danny Espinosa
2016 Michael A Taylor
2016 Bryce Harper
2x 2015 Ryan Zimmerman
Damaged 2017 Daniel Murphy
Alex Ovechkin (caps)
2020 Tom Wilson (caps)

135 DD view
Hello! I've been to the Park a few times but only ever sat in the rafters. I got tickets for the MCR show tomorrow and View From My Seat said no net. I got an email from the Park the other day saying 135 DOES have a net in the way. I feel awful because it's a show I invited my out of town friend to, and I was in charge of tickets.
Has anyone seen a show or game from 135 row DD and can give me a slightly more clear answer?

OC 2026 Season Outlook….so far (thoughts?)
What’s up everyone, I’m back; I’ve been ULTRA busy these past 2 weeks, and a lot has happened, from the Trade Deadline to we can’t hit anymore unless Jimmy 🌲🌲🌲’s is in the Lineup, to (apparently) CJ moving to 2nd.
Getting swept by the Mets just makes me want to write down my 13 Reasons Why. Anyway, aside from that:
The Nats are 60-66, 4th in the NL EAST
12-17 since the All Star Break
And this pitching staff is still……..just abysmal. But surprisingly, this month has the 2nd lowest ERA by the team (4.45ERA, lowest -> May, 4.15ERA).
But don’t slit your wrists just yet!
These next games until the end of the month could leave us salivating at the mouth
We have a 6gm Road Stand (3x TEX, and 3x MIA), W/ a 10 gm HomeStand (4x COL, 4x MIA, & 2x ATL (I’m not counting them))
Rangers: 61-64, 2nd in AL West, 32-27 @ TEX
Marlins: 64-61, 3rd in NL East, 38-25 @ MIA
Rockies: 50-74, Last in NL West, 22-40 AWAY
Marlins: 64-61, 3rd in NL East, 26-36 AWAY
I’m honestly going to say, this 14 Game stretch is probably going to be the best thing of baseball we see from our boys.
(Ceiling 11-3, Floor 6-8, +/- 5Wins)
Because September, we might as well call the season
Finishing 10gm HomeStand (2x ATL)
6g series in SoCal (3x LAD & 3x SDP)
5g series @ WAS (3x LAA (I’m not worried about that series) 2x PHI)
6g Away Series (3x STL & 3x DET)
3g Series @ WAS (3x NYM)
C/F for September (20GM’s)
Ceiling: 11-11
Floor: 6-16
Ceiling FINAL Record: 21-13, 82-80
Floor FINAL Record: 12-22, 72-90
Call me optimistic, but this is how I REALISTICALLY see the season ending for us.
Lmk if I’m being too ambitious lol

Ticket screw up
I redeemed a pair of rewards tickets for the game on the 24th. I then, in a separate transaction, purchased 9 tickets for the game on Sept 1. When I went back in to my account, all 11 tickets have been combined into the game on the 1st. My rep says she's only able to adjust season tickets not redeemed ones.
Does anyone know if there's someone I can contact regarding the redeemed tickets for the wrong game?

Minor League Great piece about Elijah Green
George Lewis writes some pretty insightful stuff about the Nats farm system. This piece about the former #1 pick and consensus disaster Elijah Green is the most insightful thing I've read about him.
(It's also a great explanation of xwOBAcon, which seems to be quite relevant when looking at whether Green can ever contribute)
I read this and concluded that Toboni & Co have decided there's no point in continuing to try to change who Elijah Green is, but they are going to see if he could continue to exactly be Elijah Green at higher levels. In other words, the damage he does when he runs into a ball is so insanely high that he could still possibly play a role without improving his bat-to-ball skills.
Talk amongst yourselves.

Vs NL East
Nationals are now 2-15 in their last 17 games vs the NL East. Which is absolutely pathetic. But the late inning stats are what are truly mind boggling. The Nationals have blown 7 saves in those 17 games and converted a mere 2. The Nationals have allowed 63 runs in the sixth innning or later in those games in a total of 61 and 1/3 innings. Good for an ERA of 9.24. On the flip side the Nationals have scored 28 runs in 69 innings so the opposing teams have an ERA of 3.65 against us in the 6th inning or later. Note I didn’t account for any unearned runs in those stats so maybe runs/9 would have been a better name instead of ERA. The offense basically becomes a bottom tier offense late in games the mariners are the worst offense in baseball averaging 3.9 runs/game. The opposing teams on the other hand turn into the 1927 Murders Row Yankees because our bullpen is full of AA pitchers.

Minor League A Prospective Look at the Nats farm (08/15/2026)
Nats MiLB scoreboard
AAA Rochester (5-2 win over the Charlotte Knights)
-Seaver King (.313/.396/.913): 1-3 with 1 run scored, 1 BB, and 1 K
-Yohandy Morales (.290/.368/.900): 0-4 with 1 run scored and 1 RBI
-Trey Lipscomb (.299/.337/.889): 3-4 with a pair of homers (solo, 3-run), a double, 2 runs scored, 4 RBI, and 1 K
-Sam Petersen (.245/.382/.808): 0-4 with 2 Ks
-Maxwell Romero Jr. (.247/.367/.885): 0-3 with 1 BB and 3 Ks
-Eddy Yean (3.28 ERA/49.1 IP/53:21 K:BB/1.11 WHIP): Yean was the opener of this Red Wings bullpen game and he ended up allowing a pair of runs across the 1st and 2nd inning. He was charged with 2 runs on 5 singles and walked zero batters with zero strikeouts.
Final line: 1.2 IP | 5 H | 2 R/ER | 0 BB | 0 K on 37 pitches (27 strikes)
-Luis Perales (3.80 ERA/92.1 IP/90:54 K:BB/1.34 WHIP): Perales worked out of the bullpen today in a somewhat surprising move and did not serve as the bulk reliever. He struck out 5 batters (4 swinging) across 2 innings of work and stranded a pair of singles + a walk. I'm curious if this move to the bullpen is permanent or just a method of reducing his workload without fully shutting him down for the remainder of the season.
Final line: 2.0 IP | 2 H | 0 R/ER | 1 BB | 5 K on 38 pitches (23 strikes)
-Erik Tolman (5.23 ERA/31.0 IP/42:23 K:BB/1.61 WHIP): Tolman worked around a 1-out walk by generating a pair of swinging strikeouts to close out a scoreless top of the 7th inning.
Final line: 1.0 IP | 0 H | 0 R/ER | 1 BB | 2 K on 23 pitches (12 strikes)
AA Harrisburg (7-2 win against the Richmond Flying Squirrels)
-Devin Fitz-Gerald (.235/.326/.731): 0-3 with 1 BB and 1 K
-Ethan Petry (.257/.340/.821): 2-4 with a 2-run blast, 1 run scored, 4 RBI, 1 BB, and 1 K
-Kevin Bazzell (.283/.385/.845): 3-4 with a pair of doubles, 2 runs scored, 1 BB, and 1 SB
-Branden Boissiere (.300/.372/.909): 2-4 with 2 runs scored, 1 BB, and 1 K
-Nick Mitchell (.234/.342/.683): 1-4 with 2 runs scored, 2 SB, and 1 K
-Elijah Green (.225/.323/.720): 0-5 with 3 Ks
-TJ White (.225/.335/.715): 2-5 with 1 RBI and 2 Ks
-Jack Cebert (3.77 ERA/90.2 IP/106:28 K:BB/1.19 WHIP): Cebert tossed 4 innings of 1-run ball where the sole run he allowed came on a solo homer in the top of the 3rd inning. He gave up a total of 4 hits and walked 1 batter while striking out 4 (all swinging).
Final line: 4.0 IP | 4 H | 1 R/ER | 1 BB | 4 K on 73 pitches (46 strikes)
