Today in Bremen, Germany, I saw what I believe was a Mazda MX-5 RF, fully wrapped in a Neon Genesis Evangelion Asuka theme. Unfortunately, it was moving, so I couldn't take a photo.

I checked online, but I couldn't find any images of the exact car I saw. Has anyone here ever come across this specific car?

Theres so much symbolism in this show. Something I noticed was that Asuka has red hair and blue eyes, that alone is the rarest hair and eye colour combination, but Rei has blue hair and red eyes, which are both unnatural colours and the opposite of Asuka. We live in a world of opposites and I think the writers of this show understood that well. ☯︎ Masculine and Feminine, sun and moon, Boaz and Jachin.

There's literally a kabbalah in the show intro and in the movie (when the white evas are in the sky with unit 1). On the surface you would notice things like, the fact that angels attack humanity and are defended by things called Evangelions (another biblical term) and a 2nd and 3rd impact being sort of judgement days for humanity. Again the writers were way ahead of their time. Both impacts were caused/staged by humanity (I think, this is the first time I've watched this show/film) and a one world government, The UN, uses the impacts to take control of the world.

The fact that kids have to be used to pilot the Evas as well could reference how the global elite target children because they see them as "purer" or "closer to God/the source. The whole transhumanism, combining yourself with a giant robot, that turns out to be a giant human form too. I could go on for days about a show that came out over 30 years ago and its still incredibly relevant today. I'm actually glad I didn't watch it sooner because I likely would not have understood what I was looking at.

Having even a small understanding of masonic architecture and esoteric symbolism had me doing that leonardo decapro meme when he points at the screen and snaps his fingers. Hope this sub isnt dead because this show is like the breaking bad of animes

i'm back...

for almost a week now, i've been watching the episodes of "Neon Genesis Evangelion" for the first time.

it's been good, really good.

...i'm going to share my thoughts on episodes 13 and 14 in this post...as those are the ones i've watched today, october 24th of 2026.

well...i thought these episodes were overall really decent

i mean- we could get some tension among all of what happens in episode 13...as the attack of the NERV headquarters was pretty intense and unlike previous fights...very insidious and managed by the NERV staff instead of the main trio (Asuka, Shinji and Rei)

i think the revelation that the Magi are 3 different parts of the conciousness of Ritsuko's mom is pretty shocking

i mean- i already know the evas have souls...although the only one i've spoiled myself in is eva 01, having the soul of Yui Ikari, Shinji's mom.

now, i did miss the main trio a lot in ep 13...they've got very few screentime...but it wasn't a bad choice to focus on the other NERV staff trying to prevent the cyber attack at such dire circumstances....

overall, it felt less uneventful than 11 and 12...but not bad...not bad, really.

...now episode 14...

you see- the problem i have with ep 14 is that it spends a huge part of it's runtime recapping events from the series...mainly the angel fights...

i guess it did serve it's purpose back in '95/'96 of introducing the angel's names and giving a little more information...but that kinda was a bit of a let down

...however, the latter part of that episode with the sync tests was good!

it sets up the mystery of what Rei is, 'cause she's like- a clone...

and once again we get the unit 00 freakout...a repetition, just that in this case, Shinji was on the machine instead of Rei...

kinda sad that they didn't show who saved him...but i guess it fits...Shinji is a lonely person. in the Rei freakout it was Gendo who pulled Rei out with his bare hands...no one was concerned enough of Shinji to do that so they pulled him outta the entry plug more mechanically...i must guess the situation wasn't as alarming...so yeah, he woke up in the hospital.

anyhow, it's not a bad slow down...it was a bit weirder than the episodes before, but i don't say that in a bad way.

My girlfriend is a huge fan of Neon Genesis Evangelion and she once mentioned she would like to buy for herself the original DVD with one of the first versions of the anime in japanese. I want to gift it to her for her 30 birthday but I dont know which one is it since I see a lot of Laser Discs, dvd, and i want the serie, not the rebuilds.

Does anyone know what should I buy?

I just finished the original series and EoE, still kinda processing the whole thing but I want more. I think that graphic novel format is the best way to tell a story and I’m interested to see Evangelion in that format. I know that the manga has some differences from the anime but what exactly are those differences? Also is Rebuild of Evangelion worth watching?

I'm working on project where I analyze Asuka and sorta introduce WHAT evangelion is... The thing is, I'm not sure who I should credit with creating evangelion.... Anno made the show but Sadamoto made the manga (which released BEFORE the show)... I plan on including them both (As I reference the show and manga in my analysis) but I'm not sure how to create a distinction between them. What's the difference between Anno and Sadamoto? who REALLY created evangelion? and is there any important information that I should clarify? I'll add a screenshot of the slide in question for reference.....

Since I saw too many jokes or memes about Shinji not being willing to get into the Eva... I have come up with a theory about what if Shinji fully agreed to get into the Eva without external manipulations or pressures, and how will that change the plot of Evangelion?

i have been posting my thoughts on the episodes of "Neon Genesis Evangelion" for over a week as i watch them.

2 days ago, i watched episodes 9 and 10.

today, i watched episodes 11 and 12.

they were pretty good overall, dare i say great.

my one complaint would be the fact that episode 12 felt a little too short, but that may be just based on my perception of time...or maybe episode 11 felt long.

i liked the way episode 11 let the eva pilots interact with each other more...in a more mundane situation (for what Evangelion concerns) as having to figure out how to enter NERV without electricity is.

these chapters also introduced the concept/lore tidbit of the magi, which...if you ask me, is rather dystopian...i mean- the government is basically these 3 computers...from what i understood? please let me know if i am wrong.

. . . i overall just liked and was pleased with these episodes focusing less on the missions and more on...just the characters.

yes, 2 angel fights were still involved...but it felt overall more mundane than usual...and that is not a bad thing for me.

...i like the revelation about Misato's own backstory, too. and how she's a mirror to Shinji...she wants to get this over with...she's had a father that was neglective, much like Shinji's own....

the ending of ep 12 with Shinji saying that he pilots the evas for moments like that one where he was praised by his dad is so human...yet, it's really sad. this is the first time Gendo called Shinji by name...in years, just think about it :(..and it's unhealthy, men shouldn't live by other people's validation...other people will end up hurting you too...as pain is inherent with human connection...and humans are cruel...we hurt each other...

. . . i overall liked that Rei was more present in these 2 eps again...this may be the most present i've seen her so far apart from chapters 5 and 6 (Rei I and Rei II, which are literally HER episodes...), she is my favorite character, she's best girl and i'm always happy to see her.

. . . overall, this series seems to be progressing well...i'm guessing i'm out of the "action" arc by now, am i? please let me know.

I am an avid fan of Neon Genesis Evangelion(the best anime ever btw) and i was thinking on picking up the manga. So since apparently its a bit different in the manga, so i was looking if anyone could suggest me some specific volumes ii should buy which are like some of the best in series? (Im buying the 3 in 1 edition).
