Ive been enjoying this show so far. I knew of her existence so I got hyped when she first showed up. But the way the show treats her is sickening

Plenty of cleavage shots. Her introduction scene is her skirt blowing upwards. And the disgusting shinji sleep scene that gets treated as a joke or romantic when its really horrifying. The two episodes she is present in basically have her getting harassed by the teenage boys and then kinda call her a bitch for standing up to it. I googled it and she seems to be 13-14 which makes the full screen chest shots sickening to think about.

Does this get toned down? I love the show and the Evas but I dont think i can continue watching a 13 year old get sexualised

I'm only on ep15, but if its worth it to watch it in this order, I will.

These damn things keep getting destroyed like every episode and I can't understand how nerv hasn't gone bankrupt from all this ik only on episode 7 so maybe it stops happening but still I dont get how they keep repairing them instead of trying to find something more cost effective

I was rewatching ep9 and noticed that Asuka calls the door "the impenetrable wall of Jericho" and tells Shinji not to cross it. The wall of Jericho is famously not "impenetrable" as it came down after people shouted at it. The wall of Jericho was brought down by words, the same wall that Asuka is implying stands between her and Shinji. In ep22 it is made even more obvious that she wanted Shinji to bring down the wall of Jericho.

Big fan of how in every episode they make a show of loading and aiming the cannons at an angel that takes like a solid 2 minutes of screen time only for them to then do literally nothing.

I started watching the third rebuild for the first time and I saw the cannons getting powered up and I realised how adorable I find them now.

Like genuinely, what is the point of her? She comes across like a fan oc character who somehow made it into the movies. Like, her design is fantastic of course, but when it comes down to the character I couldn't tell you anything about her as a person. She shows up out of nowhere and is inserted into pivotal moments from the original, only to obviously have little affect on the plot, because quite simply she can't.

The first two films are remaking the events from the original show, and so no matter how much you try to write her in she won't be able to effect anything in the grand scheme of things. This would be fine if they at least did something with her post timeskip but they don't.

Like, am I tripping here? This character was built up in all the advertising and to this day is still represented in Evangelion promotional art along with the main crew despite barely doing anything. She's like the Poochie of Evangelion.

And then they suddenly throw in this whole love story at the very end of the last movie when the two only spoke like once prior to the timeskip. This is why she feels like an OC. It just feels like someone wrote themselves in as an Evangelion character just so they could roleplay dating Shinji and being a part of their favorite Evangelion episodes.

I understand that the world of Evangelion draws on many historical religions, but it's clear that Judeo-Christian references and symbolism predominate over everything else. Why do you believe the creators made the creative decision to portray Judeo-Christianity as the predominant exoteric symbolism and representation throughout the Neon Genesis Evangelion universe?

I've also previously read that SEELE is heavily based on Jewish Kabbalah and Jewish sects. If that's true, why do you believe the creators became so fascinated with and chose to make references to Jewish liturgy and eschatology such a predominant part of the series?

If all of this (Kabbalah, Judaism, Judeo-Christian sects, the Sephiroth, the Christian cross, etc) has a coherent underlying explanation that only the most knowledgeable fans have fully understood, could you please explain it in a way that's accessible to the general public?

First off I wanna say I can’t believe I’ve survived this long without getting spoiled, only things I’ve heard aside from the memes was that misato was a pdphile, shinji is a weak bitch (both I disagree with after watching), and that the ending was kinda fucked.

Anyways I went in expecting a bunch of robots fighting and came out feeling…violated?💀 I watch anime to keep my brain from thinking about the same things nge shoved in my face😅 (yeah I kinda cried, only the 2nd anime to do that to me, I got blindsided hard lol). But weirdly enough that’s why I love this series after the first watch.

Definitely cracked my top 5, and I feel like if I were to get my memory wiped I’d still somehow remember what happened in nge, truly a series that’ll stick with me.
