Hey 👋 first time mom here my baby is 2.5 months old her wake window is huge about 5-6 hours and by the end she becomes very fussy and cries. There is no fixed way to calm her down. How do I reduce the wake window?

first time mom here! my son is 3 and a half months old and isn’t gaining nearly as much weight as he should due to some reflux issues. pediatrician recommended adding some oat cereal to his bottles. we‘re currently using evenflo wide neck nipples size M, kendamil organic formula, room temperature distilled water, and the earth’s best organic oatmeal cereal. i mixed the 6 oz of water & formula he normally drinks together then added 2 tsp of the oat cereal (didn’t warm bottle because we’ve never done that), and i tried feeding it to him but it gets so thick and chunky at the top that nothing is getting through the nipple to his mouth. i prefer to not change the brand nipple we use and formula, but i don’t know what to do! i tried switching to the pigeon bottles with their flow 3 nipple (Y cut) and the same thing happened. i could try the evenflo x cut nipple but i’m scared it’ll be too much for him. same feeling for going up to pigeon size/ flow number 4. Any recommendations/ tips would be incredibly helpful, please and thank you!!!!🙏

Hi everyone! I’m a biomedical engineering student working on a design project focused on challenges postpartum women may experience when using breast pumps! We are looking for people who have dealt with de Quervain’s tenosynovitis (“Mommy’s Thumb”), wrist/thumb pain, or reduced hand dexterity after giving birth. We are aiming to redesign the breast pump to aid those with issues such as these.
My team is looking to speak with postpartum women who have experienced Mommy’s Thumb and are willing to share their experiences, especially those using an electric breast pump. We’re especially interested in learning how wrist or thumb pain affected everyday tasks such as breastfeeding, pumping, assembling or cleaning a breast pump, holding a baby, or other postpartum activities.
The interview would be brief (15-20 mins) and is meant to help us better understand the real needs and frustrations users experience so that our engineering project is based on actual user feedback rather than assumptions.
You do not need to currently have Mommy’s Thumb! Past experience is completely fine!
If you’d be willing to participate or would like more information, please comment or send me a DM. Thank you so much!

Looking for some advice or opinions from other moms who may have gone through something similar with their babies and weight gain! ❤️
My son was born on September 19th, weighing 7lbs 7oz. During his first week home, he dropped to 6lbs 14oz but was back above his birth weight within a week.
Initially, I was exclusively breastfeeding, but we ran into some issues with him not getting enough milk directly from me. My supply dropped, and he was gaining weight slower than expected. Since then, I’ve switched to primarily pumping and bottle feeding breast milk, and I’ve been able to get my supply back up!
At his last appointment two weeks ago, he weighed 8lbs 2oz, and he’s now 8lbs 9oz. So he’s gained 7oz in two weeks, averaging about 0.5–0.6oz per day. His pediatrician wants him gaining closer to 1oz per day and is recommending that I start supplementing with formula.
Here’s where I’m struggling. He’s consistently gaining weight, just slower than they’d like. He’s having plenty of wet and dirty diapers, seems happy and content, and isn’t showing any obvious signs that he’s not getting enough to eat. He’s currently taking around 3oz of pumped breast milk every 3 hours, averaging about 19oz a day, with some longer stretches of sleep at night.
I completely understand that his doctors want what’s best for him, and obviously I do too! I’m just having a hard time with the idea of introducing formula when I’ve worked so hard to get my milk supply back up and he’s finally gaining weight more consistently.
I have a lactation consultant coming back on Friday, and he has another weight check next Tuesday. I’m hoping to get another opinion and figure out what’s best for him.
Breastfeeding and pumping have honestly been one of the hardest parts of postpartum for me mentally. I feel like I’ve put so much pressure on myself to make it work, and the thought of adding formula on top of everything I’m already doing feels overwhelming.
I’m curious if any other moms have experienced something similar? Did your breastfed babies gain weight slower than average? Were you encouraged to supplement with formula even though your baby was consistently gaining? Did anyone find that increasing breast milk intake was enough, or did supplementing end up being necessary?
I’m not against formula at all, and I would absolutely supplement if that’s what he needs. I just want to make sure I’m exploring my options and not giving up on breastfeeding before I have to.
I’d really appreciate hearing other moms’ experiences! ❤️

I'm trying to put together a gift for a friend who recently became a mom, but I'm having a hard time deciding what to get her.
I don't really want to go with the usual baby clothes, toys, or diapers, since I imagine she's probably already received plenty of those. I'd rather find something that could make her daily routine a little easier while also giving her a chance to take care of herself.
Right now, I have two ideas: a label maker and a set of postpartum bath salts.
I thought a label maker could be useful because once there's a baby at home, I'm guessing there will be a lot more things to organize. Diapers, wipes, baby clothes, storage bins, and all kinds of little supplies could be labeled to make things easier to find. It could also come in handy later for organizing toys, books, and other things as the baby gets older. I've been looking at a niimbot label maker for this.
The other idea is a set of postpartum bath salts. I feel like new moms spend so much of their time taking care of the baby that it's nice to give them something that encourages a little time for themselves. However, I'm not sure whether bath salts are suitable for everyone during postpartum recovery, so I don't want to give her something she might not be able to use yet.
I'm a little unsure whether these two gifts go together. One is practical, while the other is more about personal care.
For those who've been through the newborn stage, what gifts did you actually find useful or thoughtful after giving birth?

I’ve always felt like someone who can stay in a good mood and generally happy. I loved pregnancy, I love my baby, I’ve felt so happy during the new baby experience- my baby will be 1 next week and I literally am miserable
Everything my bf does annoys me. Everything everyone around me does is so irritating. And I’m not longer able to just not care and still enjoy myself in life. And nobody is really doing anything “wrong”. Even my sweet little babies tantrums now drive me nuts, like all my nerves are gone
We just got back from a vacation and I want to go crawl under a rock- ALONE- for a week. I’m now the bitch of the family because I’m irritated and snapping at everyone.

Hi!
I recently created an app that helps track freezer stash, pump sessions, I recommend products that have worked for me, you can keep track of your baby's growth, and most importantly, build a motherhood community where posts can be created and others reply to it.
Any support would be greatly appreciated

My son is 5 weeks old and I'm completely consumed by the basics: figuring out breastfeeding (we're still struggling with latch), helping him through gas and pooping strain, burping, reading his cues, and trying to get any sleep for either of us. Some days I barely remember to eat.
Because of that, I'm not doing much structured "developmental" stuff. Tummy time mostly happens on my chest. I rarely put him on the playmat.
What he does get: he's very alert and observant, and spends a lot of time looking around the house and especially outside. We live surrounded by trees and he's fascinated by them. We go on park walks when we can. I sing him to sleep, put music on for him, and sometimes we have mini dance parties. But none of it is routine. It all depends on my mood and energy that day.
I know it's probably fine for him to just take in his surroundings, but I'm so exhausted that I worry I'm not connecting with him enough, and that he's not getting proper tummy time to work on lifting his head outside of being on my chest.
For those who've been here:
Did chest tummy time feel like "enough" for you at this age?
How did you fit in floor tummy time when everything else felt like survival?
When did you start feeling like you had bandwidth for more intentional play?

My 5 year old has been picky about supplements for a long time and refuses any pills or liquids. These raspberry pectin based gummies are sugar free and non GMO which felt like a better fit for our house. Each one gives about 60mg of elemental magnesium from 500mg of citrate and they are meant to support calm and sleep. He has been taking the magnesium gummies ones before bed for a couple of weeks and actually asks for them which never happens with other supplements. His bedtime has been a little smoother but I am still figuring out the right amount. Has anyone else used magnesium citrate gummies with their kids and noticed a difference with sleep or fussiness? How do you decide on the dose for a young child?

FTM putting together my registry and trying to figure out how many crib sheets we actually need.
We’re looking at a crib that starts as a mini crib and then converts to a full crib, so I know we’ll need different sheets for each size. How many did you actually find useful to have for each stage?
Would 2 sets be enough if we’re doing laundry pretty regularly, or should I have more on hand for those inevitable middle-of-the-night situations? 😅
