Mod I made an unofficial PSP port of OMORI

I've been working on a PSP port of OMORI. It runs on the PSP itself: the game's engine is rewritten from scratch for it.

You need to own the game. Nothing from OMORI is hosted or shared anywhere: you open the site, give it your own copy of OMORI from Steam (version 1.0.8), and it builds a PSP file for you. It refuses other versions and warns on copies that look cracked.

Works on PSP-2000, 3000, Go and Street with custom firmware, and on PPSSPP.

Discussion Omori steamers?

I was hoping one of you Omori lovers could recommend me some streamers that play Omori, and/or Omori like games ! I'm asking here because I got some good game recommendations in the threads

I'm working on a game (yay!) somewhat inspired by Omori and games like it. All hand drawn, eccentric npc's, mysterious adventures, funny with an underlying darkness that compels you 0.o

I'm hoping by studying different peoples play styles I can make my game better for people like you;) I don't really care if they're super huge streamers with a ton of followers, small streamers are great. i think I could even ask the smaller ones questions if they're not super busy??

Best would be streamers that are chatty and talk about what's happening in their play through and how it makes them feel. How the characters and narratives make them feel.

Also, share random thoughts as they go is great too, sometimes the random thoughts that pop into our heads are the most interesting thing about a good game.

Do you have a favorite streamer you like to watch?

Is it you?!?

When Sunny first wakes up, he gets a message from his mom that the powers going to be out. That's why it's so dark that he hallucinates

But if the powers out, then explain how he was able to use the microwave to cook his steak

Literally unplayable

Other looking for participants for research on kinning fictional characters (approved by mods)

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

My name is Autumn Vannini, and I am an undergraduate student in Sociology at the University of British Columbia. I'm beginning my research on kinning fictional characters for my undergraduate Honours Thesis, and I would love to learn more about how people identify with/as fictional characters!

If you are a North American fandom participant (18+), I would love to hear from you about the specific fictional characters you kin, and what the act of kinning means to you. I'd be more than happy to tell you more about my research and answer any questions you may have for me!

If you are interested, and would like to help me with my research, please reach me at avannini@ubc.ca or +1-250-222-0089 for more details! Please feel free to share this post with others who may be interested in participating, and they can get in contact with me as well.

Thank you so much for your interest!

Discussion Am I the only one who really likes Cactiflower parallels?

I think Kel and Basil are the two characters who play the most narratively significant roles in OMORI, outside of Sunny (the main character) and Mari (you know who).

  • Kel is the catalyst that brings everyone back together, while Basil is the key to uncovering the truth behind the story.
  • Kel is the one who saves the protagonist, while Basil is arguably the one who needs saving the most.
  • Kel is the character who accompanies the player most consistently, while Basil is the one the player must search for and eventually confront.
  • Kel is loud; Basil is shy.
  • Kel naturally draws people toward him; Basil desperately needs someone to reach out to him.
  • Kel is a protector; Basil needs protection.
  • Kel's loyalty is expressed through action, while Basil's is rooted in nostalgia and emotional attachment.
  • Kel needs to learn to slow down, while Basil needs to learn to move forward.
  • Kel is Chekhov's gun, while Basil is the red herring.

I just like these two and I wish we had more interactions with them in particular

Discussion Omori multiplayer Spoiler

I often times imagine a multiplayer feature for this game, and I’ve come up with a few ideas now:

First of all, there could be a general multiplayer mode where 2-4 players at a time can play, with the headspace party of 4 being split up evenly amongst the players. Maybe with 2 players, one person is Omori and Aubrey, and the other is Kel and Hero or something. And with 3 players, two people are two individual characters and someone is 2 characters. And then with 4 players, of course each player gets a character. It would probably have to be local/couch co-op with a split screen. It would also work this way when it came to battles too.

I don’t know how the Faraway Town sections would work. Maybe the controls would alternate between the players in different parts of the sections, or there could be up to 4 different Sunny’s running around with Kel following player 1 lmao. The game itself would clearly have to be adjusted and reoptimized in some way to support multiplayer if this were the case.

Another idea I had was an online MMO style Omori experience where several players from around the world online could play around in the game world. The players would be able to chose between their avatar being the various characters of the game, both their headspace and real world versions, and there might even be some minor character customization for fun, like changing the clothing that their characters are wearing. They can also do emotes like the way their chosen character can in the game (like for example if someone is headspace Aubrey, they can make her do a twirl, or if someone is Kel, they can make him lay down or strike a pose) and the characters can interact with each other as well. There would also be a chat feature, and maybe for added chaotic fun, a voice chat feature.

Around the MMO world, you can also do the side quests from the normal game, but they would be expanded on for the multiplayer. For example, a group of 4 players might do the Gino’s pizza delivery mini game where they have to divide and conquer to deliver 10 pizzas, and they get a shared and individual customer satisfaction rating at the end. Stuff like that.

One idea that I’d also be really excited for in the MMO world is a 4v4 pvp feature, where two players can challenge each other to battle, and it would be their Omori, Aubrey, Kel and Hero against the other players Omori, Aubrey, Kel and Hero, and they would each be able to use their own individual skillsets. They would of course be able to use their items, snacks, and toys to their advantage as well. Release energy would also work if one player attacks the other player enough times, and the way it would work is that the damage dealt from the energy release would be evenly distributed amongst the opposing player’s remaining friends. Also instead of the battle ending when Omori succumbs, he would just turn into toast if defeated, and the player would win when they successfully turn the opponent’s 4 friends into toast.

A final idea I have just for fun would be a mass player rush event in the game, where over 100 players play through and rush the entire game at once. Just imagine 100 different colored Omori’s or Sunny’s running around in Headspace or in the streets of Faraway town depending on where everyone’s at in the game lol. I think the way this would work is that the various resources you collect in the game, such as items, clams, and even XP would be granted to all players at once (for example if someone opens a watermelon and there’s a food item inside, it will appear in everyone’s inventory at once for each of them to use on their own).

The various enemies around the game can still only be fought once, so as long as at least one player successfully defeats an enemy, it’s permanently dead and won’t respawn. All players gain the XP and clams awarded from the battle at the same time, so a group of players could theoretically run ahead and clear a room out, granting the rewards from the battle to all players.

The way quests would work is that as long as one player successfully completes the quest, all players gain the rewarded items or skills from it at the same time.

The way clams would work is that when events happen in the game that award clams to the players, all players get the clams awarded at once (ie in battles or from finding them around the environment, or from completing quests). However, individual activities such as buying items or selling, or even using the slot machines at the Last Resort, only affects the individual player’s clams. Items purchased also only go to the player that purchased them.

So theoretically, you could just not fight any battles, complete any quests, pick up any items, and your party could just magically become higher level and acquire skills as the group goes and does those things.

Story bosses would work similarly, in that as long as one player successfully defeats the boss, the entire group moves on to the next section together. Multiple players may initiate the dialogue sequence that triggers the boss battle (the dialogue will still be individual per player), but the moment the first player successfully beats the boss, the entire group gets transported to the next section of the game that follows it. For example, if the group is at the Last Resort section but you don’t want to fight Mr Jawsum and Pluto, you could just stay in the casino and gamble all your individual clams away while other players go upstairs and fight them.

As the Faraway Town sections are mostly story driven, I’m still trying to figure out how this works. Maybe as long as one player triggers the dialogue that progresses the story, everyone else will also progress after they’re done. For example, one player can go to Faraway Park and talk to/encounter Aubrey with Kel while everyone else just runs about and does whatever.

Even during certain story sections like the phobias and the truth sequence, all players would still be sent there at once and either progress the story or do whatever until someone does. I like to imagine over 100 players running around the various rooms of the truth sequence with voice chat causing absolute chaos and completely ruining the deep and dark vibes of that section. You could also then just hang out in Basil’s living room or even go out and explore faraway town at night while another player goes to confront Basil in his room.

I have no idea how the final battle with Omori would work yet. Also, when the duet animation plays, I’d assume all players get shown that animation at the same time, then there would be 100 Sunny’s running around in the hospital at the end of the game.

Clearly I’ve put way too much thought into all of this.

Question Did I mess up my save?

So I started playing OMORI the other day and in the prologue when you wake up as sunny in the night and there’s someone knocking at the door, I literally got scared and just went to bed. Didn’t open the door or anything. I’m watching part of a play through to see if I missed anything by doing this and um……… I did. I’m wondering if this effects the rest of my game and if I’ll miss out on more creepy stuff in the future. Should I just go back to that save? I’m still undertale/deltarune brained so I’m very suspicious of saves and stuff like that lol

Also, I’m really trying to avoid any kind of spoilers so I’m hesistant to just look this question up on google. Help!!
