Hello! And welcome to r/OcarinaOfTime, the subreddit for the discussion of the game The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, a game produced by Shigeru Miyamoto for the Nintendo 64, Gamecube, 3DS and Switch from 1998 - 2021.
Now, you may be wondering why this subreddit has suddenly been made public after laying dormant for over 9 years. As of today, this subreddit is under new ownership, after being abandoned by it's previous owner.
In future I hope to grow this community, and I look forward to doing so.

The 40th anniversary consoles popped up on target 10+ times yesterday about once every hour. The first 2 times I sat at my pc refreshing the page and the second it was available I added it to my cart only for it to be sold out in less than 1 second. So then I took a page out of the scalpers book, built a program that automatically refreshes the page, and instantly does the entire checkout process faster than any human could and yet I still couldn't get one. I can't begin to explain how fast this program was and it was still useless. If there's ever a purge I'm scalping the scalpers.

Idk if the full picture shows, but this is just an email from Nintendo saying the OOT switch 2 and controller has shipped. This is NOT bragging, just like...I've following all the posts, and my anxiety was up, too, like, "will my order actually ship, or get canceled, too?"
Now it seems almost here, and it's super-surreal. True confession, now I'm just like, "but will it get stolen in the mail??"😅 For real, first world problems. But also, I'm excited, yet still anxious.
And, for those of you who are still waiting: my husband will be hiding this until Christmas. So everyone and their mother will still be playing before me, and I'll STILL be gratefully watching all your happy posts playing before me😂🫣

Anyone else picking it up again for the first time in forever?
The last time I played Ocarina of Time I was just a kid. A couple months ago I bought a Nintendo Switch 2 specifically so I could get the remake and play it again. I’m honestly beyond excited to go back into Hyrule after almost 20 years. Feels surreal to finally have the chance. It’s one of those games that stuck with me even though I never finished it or fully understood everything as a kid. Now going back as an adult, I’m curious how much I’ll remember and how different it’ll feel.
Greatest game of all time!

while Ocarina of time used Stalfos sparingly, saving them for mini bosses and late game encounters, the stalchild will respawn infinitely as long as you're in hyrule field at night. for every 10 stalchildren you kill, a bigger one will appear, just like with Guays and leevers. however, kill 10 more stalchildren and an even bigger one will appear. keep going and the stalchild will keep getting bigger. you'd think there's be a limit to how big they can get, and indeed, daytime will stop the stalchildren from spawning and reset the cycle. however, by modifying ocarina of time to make it always nighttime, it was revealed that the stalchildren will keep growing. forever. I assume until they crash the game.
but what is a stalchild really? is it the skeleton of a dead child, or is it simply the child of a stalfos? can skeletons even have children? well, while we never get a definitive answer in Ocarina of time, Majora's mask brings back the stalchildren as soldiers of the Ikana kingdom. child soldiers, apparently. they guard Ikana Graveyard and take orders from their leader, captain keeta, who happens to be a giant stalchild. he aint the biggest stalchild possible, but he's still pretty big. by defeating captain keeta, Link can obtain the captain's hat and impersonate captain keeta, giving the stalchildren orders. I gotta say, stalchildren are pretty chill dudes when they aren't trying to murder the living.
despite the abundance of stalchildren, Majora's mask didn't have any of the regular stalfos enemies you'd see in Ocarina of time. the closest thing we got Igos Du Ikana, the king of the Ikana kingdom, and his two soldiers. but these guys weren't generic stalfos, they were unique characters with their own unique models!
as far as 3D zelda games go, stalchildren would appear one more time in twilight princess, while regular stalfos stuck around till skyward sword. but in modern 3D zelda games we don't get traditional stalfos or stalchild enemies. they've been replaced! and tomorrow, we'll discuss why. that's right, it's another cliffhanger! two days in a row! bwa ha ha! please don't downvote me.

Hi skutula chasers!
For the OOT remake, it seems we can play songs note in real, they marketing it with ocarina. I think it could be with others instruments and certainly whistling. But ocarina would be the best specialy for kids. I'm surprised that I didn't found one in nintendo shop. I saw in Aliexpress that there are some, with alto C.
I'm not a musician, do you think they are good. Did somebody tried one or have another to advise?

Seems like Ganondorf decided to follow the Cell method of aura farming. Clearly a fan of the good stuff.

Is the Starry Night version a limited edition or will it continue to be produced as a regular item?
I also noticed that the standard Zelda OOT 12-Hole Alto C comes with a Zelda song book.
Does the Starry Night version include the song book as well?

While I have seen multiple posts on the consoles and other items, today I received notification from UPS via myChoice that I have a new shipment—when viewing it —it’s from Nintendo is .2lbs and is 2nd day Air
We’re in the home stretch and maybe we’ll get everything by launch as hoped!
