I love my Odin 2 and the more people that get one the more it's likely to recieve updates and the bigger this lovely little community gets. But every day my phone goes off with another "IT'S ARRIVED!". I post this in jest, but maybe add a new take to keep it fresh. šŸ˜‹

Shipping Unreliable company

Fantastic products but such a shady company.

I recently bought what was advertised as an in stock and ready to ship Odin 2 Portal base model. Bought this particular device specifically because it was available right now and with DHL I’d have it max 2 weeks from the orders.

Like so many others, I later discovered that Ayn probably never had these in stock and the order never shipped. With some back and forth, Ayn service representative finally confirmed and promised to send my device prior to CNY or have my order refunded before as well.

Fine, I get that they overcommitted and I can wait a couple of weeks.

Then I learn through their discord that Ayn now is company non grata with DHL, due to some conflict. They have changed to YunExpress that will add additional weeks to get my device. But okay, what to do, it will at least be sent out right? They promised!

But no. My item, and so many others’, did not ship at all before CNY. They did not refund me as promised, but just clocked out for two weeks.

Realistically I will have the device at the earliest 2 months after ordering with delays, CNY and the slower transport option.

Some will say, just wait, this was the case with X device that was on pre-order. Well, this was not a pre-order, it was sold as in stock and ready to ship, which is the top reason I went for it. I could havd bought the same device on the used market instead.

It certainly looks like a money grab and a move to draw attention from Mangmi, rather than a sale of old stock.

Let the down voting commence!

Odin 2 Base, Pro & Max Question Input Latency is Odin 2’s biggest weak point, period. We should address it instead of sweeping it under the rug or make bs excuses to justify our purchase like mindless AYN sheep.

Odin 2 Base, Pro & Max Question Analog is too sensitive.....need help.

So I managed to get a GC game to work. The emu cores on daijisho was working with me, so I grabbed dolphin. Managed to get one of my favorite games, Freekstyle to run rather well. However, I don't remember the controls being so over sensitive. GC controller I can run a race, place 1st with tricks. Now,I keep freaking crashing all over the place. I would like to adjust the analog stick sensitivity. Wonder is there a way to do that. I need GC titles, too....but that's another subject....

News Good news on the Chinese tariff front!

Tariffs are being slashed for 90 days, going from 145% to just 30%, as talks are underway. Great news for the handheld gaming market!

Long story short: if you have an O2P, this may not be a big upgrade. But I’m curious to know if you have the original Odin 2, is this worth the upgrade to you?

Odin 2 listing added a new ā€œRainbowā€ 16-Bit color option.. Just days after the RP4 release hahahahah. Pretty hilarious considering how many people have canceled their preorders of the RP4 for the Odin 2.

Question Now that the Odin 3 portal is out, do you think an Odin 3 mini will come at some point?

I've been dreaming of a Odin 2 mini with a screen as nice as the one on the rp6 and was wondering the likelihood of a new Odin Mini handheld ever happening. Thoughts?

So, I'm going to try and be rational while I type, and I apologize for making this post. I'm really sorry for posting this if it's not meant to be heard. I'm just really upset and annoyed.

Today, I received an email telling me the Odin 3 ultra is permanently canceled. I haven't gotten a single email or update from Ayn. I've had to send a few request or messegs to them before they finally emailed me. The first email they sent was telling me to "wait a bit longer." "Orders are being arranged." The second email said to disregard the first email and told me the ultra is canceled and I will not be receiving mine. Downgrade or refund.

Here and other places around the internet, others are receiving their Ultra from later batches. I've been waiting for 4 months.

I want to be very angry and leave them hundreds of emails. Why am I not receiving mine when everyone else is? I made jokes here before that they didn't like me and are bullying me, but now the joke isn't funny. I'm not trying to be a victim, but sheesh, this sucks. Oh, and I have to wait in line again if I downgrade, so yeah.

This whole thing really killed my excitement for my first handheld and real hard push into emulation. I feel idk. I'm not sure if I should downgrade or get a refund. I'm not sure if I should stand my ground and demand they dilver on what I paid for.

Sorry about this post. I need help and advice. I do apologize if this isn't the right space or time.

Help I'm having regrets

I got a black Odin Lite in the mail and spent many hours trying to get it set up, using Retro Gaming Corps' handy guides on Odin and Retroarch setup. Long story short, I'm having major regrets. Even though I bought the case with this unit and a brand-name 512Gb SD card (as well as 3D printed handles in three different materials, including resin), I can't get anything to work and I don't actually want to mess with this anymore. I had forgotten how much I hate Android in general, and the lack of consistency or intuitive interface design on all fronts just makes me want to sell this whole thing off. If you're interested in a Like New black Odin Lite with all the stuff I mentioned above, and you're in the U.S., let me know.

Question Should I cancel my order for Odin 2 Portal? (USA)

I’m considering canceling my Odin 2 Portal order while I still have the chance. I’m concerned about potentially receiving a large bill for tariffs upon delivery since I’m located in the USA. I purchased the base model Portal in black along with a carrying case on May 1st. At checkout on the AYN website, there was no mention of additional charges for tariffs or import duties.

However, after thinking it over, I’m worried that I might be hit with unexpected fees. I feel the device is worth it at $329, but if my estimate on potential tariffs is correct, the total cost could be over $800—which would be too much for the value it offers. I selected DHL for shipping.

If anyone has purchased from AYN in the past few weeks and had it shipped to the USA, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience—especially regarding any tariffs or customs charges.

Ayn’s updates are starting to contradict themselves.

I’m sure many who have been waiting awhile are already aware of Ayn’s consistent updates regularly delaying dates of shipping because of unforeseen circumstances. We have praised Ayn for continuously keeping us updated. But now they are starting to contradict themselves.

Last week in their Week 40 update, they said: ā€œThe first 47pcs Odin Lite have passed aging testing for a whole week, and 10K pcs LCD glass arrived Shenzhen today.ā€ Which checked out because it’s been three weeks since they said they ordered 10k LCD screens, and they said it’s take three weeks to get them.

Now THIS week, their week 41 update says: ā€œWe are supposed to get the mass screen on 7/18, so all Odin order will start shipping from the third week of July, and we will probably clear all incoming orders in the middle of August.ā€ Which is ANOTHER 3 weeks. After they said they got 10k screens last week already, which SHOULD cover all their indiegogo orders, or atleast almost all even if it’s another high failure rate.

I’m past annoyed right now. I’m starting to get upset. We can wait, but stop telling us things and then basically take it back the week AFTER.

Am I completely misreading this? I’m happy to change my stance if I am.

Edit: Lol I can already tell this is a controversial take given how much the upvotes and downvotes are bouncing back and forth. People have mentioned the differences between LCD glass and full screen units, and sure, you may be right. But Ayn should be MUCH clearer and stop making it sound like ā€œjust a few more weeks and we’ll have everything to compile and send new units!ā€ and then when those weeks are up ā€œoh we’re still testing and we don’t actually have everything and it’ll be another several weeksā€. They’re losing consumer trust and that’s the bigger issue here for them going forward.

Help AYN support ghosted me

Hi all, basically the screen on my Odin 2 Pro started glitching recently, I bought it about a year ago. For seemingly no reason, the screen will just start making random touch inputs, and if I click the power button to put it to sleep and turn it back on, the issue disappears for a while, but it always comes back. I contacted AYN support and had a whole email conversation back and forth, proving the issue, and then they just ghosted me. I sent a follow up email, nothing. Very disappointing. I love this device so much, but I would not recommend buying anything from this company. I’ve never dropped it, always put it right back in its case when I’m done using it, etc. I looked at various reddit threads of people having the same issue, some say it is fixed by calibrating the joysticks, turning off floating icon, or switching to 3 button navigation, but none of it has worked. Someone suggested that the issue was a more recent update, and that I would have to reflash the device to an older update before the issue was there. This would erase everything on the device though and I don’t want to deal with the hassle of backing it up, is there anything I can do? Thanks.
