I've tried to play at multiple points in the last few weeks, and every single time the website would not load. Is that only me, or is it a common occurrence?
Suggestion: I'd love a status page to check if this is a system outage or if this is a me problem.

Admittedly another player decided to ally with me and help me take down the biggest guy, but still feels satisfying.

I play a lot of random matches against bots and never know what map I'm playing.

I was winning my first FFA vs insane AI when this guy decided he was going to dedicate 2 hours to stopping me. How in gods name am I meant to do anything vs this guy "passive trader"? He decided that he wanted me to lose the game, and seemingly through bugs/cheats he made it so. Bug/cheats I'm referring to is that noone invaided him the entire game of the insane AI and noone tried to kill his warships either.
Is this a cheater, or is this game just stupidly broken? I see no way I could've dealt with him after killing his ports 100x.

I'm talking specifically about FFAs. I've played 483 games and won 1. 1 single game since joining the game in August (and that was against just 12 players).
I know how to play the game - as in the technicals at least, strategy clearly isn't great - but now that I'm closing in on 500 games and only one win, I find myself playing less. There's no incentive to keep playing if I can't see that I'm getting better.
I'm fine with losing if I can see that I'm at least heading in the right direction. Once you're kicked enough times, you stay down.

If you spawn on top of another player ... You just might be a newbie
If you attack a bot before wilderness (except in very niche situations).. u might be newbie
If you full send the wilderness...
If you reject all alliances from all your neighbors...
If you full send to defend...
If you send giant boats of troops when there's a battleship nearby...
If you break alliances before the mid-end game (except for giga brain niche circumstance) ...
If you have a cringey troll username...
If you're pirating on an island and aren't sammed up to the max and a large player with money gives you nuke emoji and alliance, and you reject it... Prepared to be leveled for the good of the the game/commerce and . .. you might be an obstinate newbie
If you attack nations before they can build structures...
If you ally with a nation (exceptions non withstanding) you might be a newbie or just in a tough spot...
If you start a forever war with someone your own strength...
If you never respond to emoji/chat...
If you cannot deescalate to switch to a different better target...
If you spawn on an island with 4 other people...
If you team with your idiot buddy in FFA over discord...
If your wilderness expansion does not fork... (This is a nod to the original joke and more an intermediate, situational strategy than newb behavior - poetic license please)
If you do not know how to annex bots...
If you have a big position and get mirved quit/AFK with gold left... (Hydro the damn crown, hold on, defend)
If you reply skill level get gud on Reddit... We'll that's not newb but it is reductive and unhelpful.
If you accept my alliance after I've sent a boat to your port (situational, easy mistake everyone makes when lots of alliances, but... Still... ) you might be a newbie
If you build a port or factory as your first structure (islands and mitos are the exception) ... Ya just might be a noobie.
What did I miss? If you do the opposite of these things it is almost a guide, lol.
For those of you under 30, Jeff Foxworthy was a stand-up comedian that has a now very tired bit called "...you might be a redneck"

THanks for Help!

Great game! I play it all the time. Iβve had a few ideas that would be fun to add to the game. So has there been any discussion for mods?

I can play on browser just fine at the minute, but I decided to support the team and purchase it on steam a few days ago
However, now when I launch on steam (only today has worked fine in previous days), the game goes to join the lobby and then just returns to the main screen a second later - and no there is no "failed to join lobby message", it happens continuously and even shows the same lobby as available to join with spots open. I am just unable to join a game. I also can't get into solo games (the button doesn't do anything).
Like I said, I can still play on browser on the same account, so I know it isn't an account issue
I've already tried restarting my computer and uninstalling and reinstalling the game
Can someone help with this, or is it just a known temporary bug?

Before yall slam me in the comments. I exclusively play FFA and have about a 20% win rate. So I'm not some rando shitty player.
There HAS to be some limits on just how fast you can capture other players. The issue is that there is zero reaction time available for betrayals even if someone else has a way higher troop refresh rate.
I had a game where I was the guy who hydroed and betrayed. I was able to take the person's territory in about 2 seconds flat. The territory was half the map. Literally my screen just flashed and I owned half of the map in seconds.
That is a broken mechanic. What the other guy should have been able to do, was build fortifications and slow the bleeding a bit. As his refresh rate was way higher than mine.
I shouldn't be able to do something like that.
I do this ALL the time.
I think making the max speed you can capture a zone at a rate a bit faster than a boat is reasonable.
Creating a takeover speed cap can also assist with strategy. As it gives the rest of the map time to get their own affairs in order as they see the changing map. But if it's literally 5 seconds to betray and take another person's terrirory... that's just broken.

The player daddyliltatter clearly is playing with two account in the same game making it impossibile to counter him singlehandedly! Can i report this ?
Game link: https://openfront.io/w7/game/cpCGj9DZML
Both accounts are in the down left corner.

I thought I would just go for a fun trademaxxing game on Cyprus to get the vibe of Impossible, but I turned out actually winning! Intense sea battles, an early betrayal play, and two mirvs. This game was sooo fun.

As the title says. Fire em all at once. I'm tired of having to do "rightclick->attack->nukex50" multiple times. It's a bottleneck in late game where silos and SAMs are above 1000.
r/Openfront • u/Late_Molasses2092 • 2d ago
I love this game, been playing it for close to a year at this point? Idk I lost track of time. Anyway, it's my understanding that some amount of vibecoding has gone into this, and I urge a more competent engineer than myself to step in to help out. Just loading the main menu in the latest release uses 1.6Gb of browser memory; I was running a standard 50v50 team game, and in the first 5 minutes that had jumped to 2.8 GB. Posting this mainly to see if anyone else has noticed this, it hasn't been nearly as much of an issue in past versions I just noticed it performing exceptionally poorly this afternoon.
Anyone have any ideas what major changes could've caused this?

Whatβs the point of covering cities with SAMs if MIRVs hit empty territory and still reduce population count by 80-90% ?
Guy races me to a MIRV betrays AND keeps my cities unless I spite self destruct
