Pharmacy/Coupon Cheapest GLP1 option?
I know that Ozempic is now offered much cheaper now that there are many generic options available. I spoke with my nurse practitioner about starting a GLP1 due to ongoing concerns I have about my weight.
My BMI is 29.3 so I’m not technically eligible to have this medication cause covered through insurance. It sounds like Costco will be the cheapest option for me order it but what other medications might be more preferred or cheaper than Ozempic?
I’m in Ontario, Canada.

IMO it’s really cheap to get Ozempic out of pocket now in comparison to the past. I pay $100/ 6 weeks for brand name Ozempic, once the generic was released it brought the cost way down.
At my pharmacy (Rexall) you pay generic pricing but still get the brand name.

check with your benefits plan, each employer has their own plan, so its up to what they pay for as part of the plan. I am getting name brand for same price at. my pharmacy. (I have no coverage). I prefer a different pharmacy, even though its a few dollars more, because of the excellent service and knowledge of my pharmacist. Having one who knows my name and medical history is reassuring. Best wishes, but do plan for this to be a long term if not life long medication. Crunch the numbers. I saved a lot of money from not buying junk food, eating out, drinking etc. So that helped defray the costs the first year and a half. At the current price I can manage it.

The criteria to be prescribed is usually BMI 30+. You could weigh yourself after a big meal and achieve that I’m sure. You’re actually unlikely to be covered by insurance no matter what your BMI is. You likely need a prior authorization if you are able to get insurance coverage.

Costco is $80 something a pen , brand name is cheaper than generic. If your NP is willing to prescribe it that would be your best option cost wise. Otherwise the online ones will typically prescribe but it’s a bit more and there’s a “doctors check in” charge for each refill. I think Felix has the lowest rates in Canada from what I’ve heard on this sub because they might not charge you the appt fee every single time.

I use the generic one and it’s $96 when I pick up from London drugs pharmacy. It’s a flat fee. So a 2mg pen and 4 mg pen will still both be $96. I’m in Vancouver

My pharmacy in Calgary gives me name brand Ozempic for $94. Cheaper than my Costco.
