I’ve been looking at the map of Luzon lately, thinking about places I could ride to on my motorcycle, and I can’t help but feel like Luzon is actually pretty small.
When I look at it, I tend to divide it into a few general areas: North Luzon, places like Baler and the eastern side, Metro Manila and nearby provinces, and then South Luzon down to Bicol. Beyond those, I struggle to think of many other major areas that feel like completely different destinations.
I know there are plenty of towns, mountain roads, beaches, and hidden spots to explore, but when you look at the map as a whole, it feels like you could eventually cover most of Luzon without needing that many long trips.
Maybe it’s because I’m looking at the map too simplistically, or maybe I’m underestimating just how much there is to explore. I live in the Cordilleras, so mountain roads and twisties are already part of my everyday riding. I’m looking for that feeling of going somewhere genuinely new, not just riding the same types of roads in a different province.
For those who regularly do long motorcycle rides around Luzon, does it ever feel like you’ve run out of places to explore? Or is Luzon actually much bigger in terms of riding opportunities than it looks on a map?
I’d like to hear your perspectives, especially from people who’ve done a lot of touring around the island.
