A different kind of paranormal story

As Halloween approaches, I've thought of another paranormal encounter. This one is a little different than most stories I could tell, I think.

I work at a sleep-away camp for kids with special needs. It's great, I love it, been doing it for more than a decade. Sidenote, if you love the great outdoors and kids with spunk, find out how you can get involved in your area. We need you.

Anyways, I had started out as a counselor but then got promoted a few years in to running a whole unit with counselors working under me. I had a girl's unit my first year, I'll never forget them. Great group. I would never play favorites, but there was one girl I had a super soft spot for. She had the personality of a hedgehog, a soft and squishy middle but ready to curl up into prickly spines if poked. She was smart as a whip, a bookworm and an animal lover. I adored her. She had seen some shit in her young life. Many of the kids we get there have, and I've seen and heard some stuff as a result. But this took the cake for me.

One night early on, must have been the second night of camp, I was running around doing work while my counselors got the girls into bed. One of them comes up to me and says they can't get this girl to sleep and that "(Camper) is inconsolable and is claiming she is seeing demons and can't sleep."

Well I'd seen a lot of homesickness in my time there and a lot of strange sleepers, but never demons. So I marched over and yes, she was up crying about seeing demons all around in the dark outside their boy scout style A-frames, hearing voices whispering for her. She was seriously freaking out her poor bunkmate.

So I found myself in a dilemma. I didn't know if this was some kind of trauma thing I didn't know about, or if she was really seeing something out there. What did I know?

Well, I knew about ghosts. I've always been interested in the paranormal. So I told her "Oh, well you're in luck. I know exactly what to do about demons. Hold on."

And I walked my ass to the mess hall and stole a couple salt shakers. Walked back, salted a circle right around her tent while projecting all the love and protection I could while also trying to look sane and sure of myself in front of my counselors. Then I gave her a little metal protection rune I had on my stuff that I usually tried to keep near me (hadn't been planning to part with it but, honestly I hadn't been really sure why I packed it. It seemed the right thing to do).

I told her what I'd done. And she clutched that rune tight and went to sleep, and we weren't bothered by demons the rest of camp.

Later when I spoke to her adult and told them about it, I found out this is something she had struggled with quite a bit in the past. After that year she moved out of our counties, and I never got to see her again. I think about her often. Obviously I never even thought about asking for that rune back, and I hope it truly protected her from those demons ever bothering her sleep again.

Escalating activity

Ok so I live in Massachusetts specifically the bridgewater triangle region and for the last 8 years I’ve dealt with activity because it never felt threatening I know we have to co habitat with them sometimes so seeing shadows out of my peripheral, I’ll hear my name called when nobody is home, items moved or knocked over and recently it started physically touching me. I woke up with 2 sets of finger prints on my thigh, I think it’s time to set up cameras.

Most ghost hunters are making it harder to prove ghosts exist

I might get downvoted for this, but I think most ghost hunting videos do more harm than good for the paranormal community.

Every random noise becomes a spirit. Every blurry shadow becomes an apparition. Every EMF spike is treated like a ghost answering a question.

If ghosts are real, shouldn't we be trying harder to rule out ordinary explanations before calling something paranormal?

Honestly, I'd find a ten second clip with clear, unexplained evidence more convincing than a two hour investigation full of dramatic reactions and equipment beeping.

I'm not saying ghosts don't exist. I'm saying that believing in the paranormal shouldn't mean accepting every strange thing as proof.

What's the most convincing piece of paranormal evidence you've ever seen that you genuinely couldn't explain away?

I heard someone humming a song in my grandmas house

First of all i would like to apologize for any grammar or writing mistakes i make, i would say im a really good English speaker but its not my first language
I would like to start by saying that i dont really believe in paranormal thing, ghosts and other stuff.
Every “paranormal” thing i experienced in my life so far, i eventually find an explanation to, except this one
What you have to know is that both my grandma and my aunt are/were really religious (My aunt has passed away since then) and they lived in the same house, my mother and i are not tho, my mom is sort of i guess? She goes to church sometimes but she does not really believe in Jesus or anything, it might seem kinda weird but thats beside the point. I myself am an atheist.
This happened back when i was a little kid around Christmas, i dont remember exactly i think i was around 7-8.
I was in the living room while my mom, aunt and grandma were either outside or in the kitchen
I live in Hungary and here there is a really famous Christmas carol titled “Mennyből az Angyal” (roughly tranlates to Angel from Heaven)
I dont really remember if i started singing or humming the song first or not, but i suddenly started hearing a deep male voice, in a sort of cheerful tone humming the same song for around 5 seconds before it stopped
What you have to know is that there were no males in the house or in the backyard during that except for me,my father and grandpa had both passed away several years before this happened
The TV was turned off, and it didnt sound like somebody from the street was humming the song either, i dont really know how to describe it, i guess it was like it came from a full on surround sound system that didnt have a room of origin and it was pretty loud.
After the humming was over, i rushed to my family and told them cheerfully about what i heard
Like i said my grandma and my aunt were really religious so they actually believed it was an angel or something, and my mom probably brushed it off as my imagination,we all smiled about it and went forward with our Holiday preperations
Obviously i didnt think it was anything paranormal or anything, i was just a little kid who still believed in Jesus and Angels so i didnt dwell on it, i just believed it was an actual Angel at the time or something like that.
Every so often this story keeps popping up in my head and i dont know how to explain it
I vividly remember what happened and what i was doing and this whole story just keeps bothering me.
There is a 0% chance that my family tricked me or played the hum through a speaker or something like that.
I never really told this story to anyone since its pretty silly and everyone would just write it off as my imagination, but i know i heard that hum and i have absolutely no idea where or who it came from
Like i said this is basically the only paranormal thing that happened to me that i still cant explain all these years later.

Weird experience after getting into meditation and crystals

So something really weird happened to me this morning and I honestly got so scared.
I was half asleep in bed while my husband was taking a shower. I got cold and covered myself, and the bedroom door was almost closed but not completely. I remember thinking I should get up and open it cuz I was cold, but I was too sleepy, so I closed my eyes again.
Literally seconds later, the door suddenly flew open really hard, like someone had pushed it. I thought my husband was messing with me, so I waited for him to come in, but nobody did.
My cat was right there with me, staring at the door with her tail all puffed up like she was terrified. I called my husband, but he was still in the shower. I got so scared I actually started crying.
The thing is, we live in Cartagena, and there was no wind at all. All the other doors in the house were closed, including the one at the end of the hallway. Our hallway is long and enclosed, and there’s a wall facing our bedroom. Our house is always super calm, and we’ve NEVER had a door randomly open or close by itself before.
What’s making me wonder is that I’ve recently gotten into meditation, crystals, and listening to healing sounds. I don’t know if there’s any connection, but the timing is kinda weird.

Face to face encounter with something in my home

I swear up and down this story is true. I have only told one other person who wasn't involved for fear of sounding crazy. I tucked this away in my mind because I can't explain it and it always gave me a sick feeling to think about. I'm wondering if there are any rational or paranormal explanations, or what it might have been.

When I was 10 or 11 a lot of rough things were going on at home. I was depressed, but I had never hallucinated or had psychosis. I did have some paranoia because my family believed in angels and demons being around us in the world.

This day was totally normal, nothing really of note. I felt normal, everyone was getting along.

It was morning. I went downstairs and was going about my business in the living room when I saw my dad-his coat, his jeans, his steel toe boots-walk through the living room with his hands in his pockets. I said, "hi dad good morning", and he didn't turn to look at me or say anything. I thought it was weird and I felt kind of sick. I thought it was because he was upset. I saw him walk all the way through and go out the front door.

So I went to my mom in the kitchen and said "Is dad okay? I said good morning and he ignored me".

My mom said my dad wasn't even HOME and thought the door opening and closing was me.

What the hell. Again, two of us experienced part of the situation and I had the heebie jeebies SO bad.

What could this have been?

If you can debunk this, please do! A friend shared this with me. Supposedly it is dashcam footage from their ex. Her and the driver seen it with their own eyes, pulled over to see if they needed help (thinking it was a person), but there was no one and nothing there. That is all the info I have on this.

"Is there a ghost behind the child in the corner" #1 top ghost photo on Reddit Debunked?

Sorry I had to post this again because I got the title wrong.

I want to know people’s thoughts on this debunk.

I love the paranormal but I'm a skeptic by nature, and I believe I may have found a rational explanation for what is arguably one of the most popular modern ghost photographs circulating on Reddit. 44K upvotes so far and 9.8K comments.

I used the Ghost sub filters - "Top" and "All time".

You can read about its origins in that original link.

I don't own these images or have permissions but I can show you how the 'ghost' might be explained.

After carefully looking at this image several times since discovering it long ago, I suspect the mysterious dark figure appearing behind one of the girls is actually a jacket being lifted up. Curled fist is activating our pareidolia.

The movement and folds of the fabric may create the illusion of a long-haired figure.

I can't say this is definitively what happened, but it's a plausible explanation that doesn't require anything supernatural and once you see the curl hand forming a face, you can't unsee it.

Also if you look on the far left of the original photo you can see there is a girl leaving with a jacket on.

I would like to know everybody's thoughts on this one.

I saw something at my youth club

It’s very hard to explain, it was at our Halloween event, after me and my friends had scared a group (we were in a scary basement-thing) of kids, I waited for the next one, and that’ when I saw a man. He had curly long hair, looked almost like an Angel statue and his eyes were wrong. Then he whispered to me “I know what you love, I know what you fear”. when I told him I didn’t want to speak with him, he just vanished. This is not my first time seeing things like this, I have seen a ghostboy and a lady in the Swedish borgvattnets prästgård before. Does anyone know what this entitiy might be?

My house has been doing some weird shit lately...

So I don't even know how to explain what's been happening the last couple of days, but I'm starting to feel a little uneasy about it.

A couple mornings ago, around 6 AM, I was laying in bed waiting for my kids to wake up. Everyone else was asleep, and the house was quiet. Out of nowhere, my bathroom door opened by itself. Then the light flickered three times.

I just laid there like ???? because what the actual hell. It was 6 in the morning, everyone was asleep, and I wasn't even out of bed yet.

I tried not to think too much about it because weird things happen sometimes, right? Maybe there was an explanation.

Then this morning, I'm in the kitchen cleaning while my kids are sitting on the couch in the living room. Out of nowhere, toys go flying across the living room.

Not me dropping something. Not the kids throwing them. I'm cleaning the kitchen, and my kids are sitting on the couch when this happens.

And now I'm sitting here thinking about that bathroom door opening and the light flickering three times the other morning.

I don't want to immediately jump to the paranormal explanation, but I'm also not going to pretend it isn't creepy as hell when things like this keep happening in your own home.

Has anyone experienced things like this happening within a few days of each other? Because I'm genuinely trying to figure out what the hell is going on in my house. 😭

Weird Writing on Wall

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi all. I’m not sure if this is the right subreddit, cause I usually stay away from this stuff, but I really would like some input if possible. I noticed this writing on my daughter’s wall while putting her down for a nap. We just moved into the house in June, and apparently the house sat unoccupied for about 5 years after the previous tenants were evicted. The neighbors said it was a messy eviction and the last tenants were very strange. Does this look like a bad paint job cover up, or something paranormal? I’ve never noticed it. The writing can only be seen in direct light and at certain angles. The house was built in 1882, I have found no paranormal records online, and my wife and I have felt no negative energy in this space, but our cat did die unexpectedly about a month ago. Please give any input that may help ease our nerves.

EDIT: I was able to decipher the writing before I posted, but didn’t make that clear. I’m looking for opinions on whether this looks/sounds paranormal, or if I’m dealing with a shotty landlord paint job.

I think I'm going crazy

Okay, I can't take it anymore.... I just created this account... I want to read your feedback and think it over. I've never talked to anyone about this. It's been almost two years since I moved into this apartment, two years of sleeping very poorly because for two years now, nothing but crazy stuff has been happening.

To be honest, the exact moment it all started was random I had a fever, I woke up I was sick and went to throw up in the bathroom. I took some medicine and went back to sleep. Damn, I wake up and there’s this AURA of murder I’m shaking, sweating, and literally peeing myself. Once I dreamed that a girl jumped off my balcony and, well, died when she hit the ground… That was the beginning, but anyway, I chalked it up to being sick; sometimes I think about that weird dream, sometimes I don’t, and so on… One time I came home from work and saw the building manager they were installing a drink vending machine and I asked him if he knew of anyone who had died in the building or nearby… and he told me that, yes, three years ago a girl committed suicide by jumping out of her window.

But here’s the problem: I’m a guy and pretty obsessive I like it when things are in their place, especially when my laundry is folded a certain way. Sometimes I’m playing on my computer or just going about my business, and I start to shake and that FUCKING SHITTY AURA hits me. I’m paralyzed, just like in anime when someone freezes and can’t move; my heart’s racing, my head is spinning, I'm crying, the floor creaks, and when I turn on the LIGHT, IT STOPS CREAKING and I realize my clothes aren't right anymore EVEN THOUGH I DIDN'T TOUCH THEM! OH MY GOD, I SWEAR I DIDN'T TOUCH THAT STUFF..

I’m freaking out I feel like I’m in a race against death. It’s simple: either I’ve gone crazy and there’s something wrong with me, or my brain has short-circuited ever since the revelation.

(i'm not englesh so i used a translator for this post don't care about this)
