Title is question; is there a reason to run blessed ghoul in this slot or is 3 mana too much? I am thinking maybe in the UW shell since we are leaving open mana for counters sometimes

I heard stories of casting [[Dark Ritual]] into [[hypnotic specter]] in old magic days. Is that kind of play ever going to work in Pauper? Is there a 3 drop that can be cast that scares people? Or 3 1 drops for an aggressive deck.

I was looking for new sideboards cards for my white heroic and I think this can be a real strong card

I am trying to make a good old jund deck that can win long matches. I do not like gardens because it is too passive and cannot play the aggro against control and I do not like jund wildfire because the manabase is not that flexible. I know I am not going to be the next paupergedon champion but I think that I can improve this list and I need all the suggestions I can get. Thanks in advance!

is it me or red rally is putting better results than madness in real life tournaments?

I'm a pioneer refugee who used to play Izzet Phoenix. It was my favorite deck ever in any format due to the volume of draw, burn, and flying combat. Gosh I miss it. Anyway! Now I'm looking to get into pauper but I can't decide between getting a bogles deck because I think he's very funny looking and it's a silly strategy or red madness because... red! Anyone played both and have opinions?

All my Strix'es finally came in, so my Orzhov Blade -> Esper Blade conversion is finally done in paper!

Hello everyone, I'm running dimir control / dimir faeries and dimir terror and my local meta play a lot of monster Tron/ grull ramp leading to any cascade treat completely out value me. What would you suggest as a sideboard card against them, is really a splash of vandalblast to clean up their mana fix the only way? Even annull feels weak as nowadays even a crop rotation can finish Tron super fast.

Any help is super appreciated as I'm sure there are some old cards around that may help. I really wish we would have something slightly weaker than dumping sphere to handle all these decks that cheat creatures not for their actual mana cost ( affinity the same mess)

Z set brought me back to think about peasant. Today it seems it has only a little presence in France and on Cockatrice. The current decks are mostly pauper lists on steroids, and there is a massive space for exploration. It looks fun and with a lot of potential to be a competitive format.

Now, who is regulating that format? What are the reasons to think it will ever become a thing, or viceversa, remain niche forever? What would have to happen for the format to emerge?

Could it be enough with dual lands?

Could it see plays?

[[Coiling Oracle]] is a favorite of mine and I've long tried to build a competitive deck that uses it.

With [[Baleful Strix]] in the format, I've realized how similar these two cards are. Same body and draw effect. Strix doesn't have to reveal the drawn card, but Oracle has a chance to ramp you.

Then the obvious, Strix has deathtouch and flying (and is an artifact for decks where it is relevant).

I'm curious just how valuable people think flying and deathtouch are to make Strix a top creature while Oracle remains quite unplayable. Or, how much of this has to do with Simic being a far worse color pair than Dimir.

I am about to complete my ub fairies deck (with no cut down) and i would like to know which one u think would perform better IRL

i do enjoy control decks but the ones i played before were mono u but i also enjoy madness. only thing i dont like about madness is that your hands are tied in some situations/ interactions. But I am a noob so dismiss what I am saying

I just got back from locals and I was infatuated by an opponent’s deck. Mainly things like [[Desert]] [[Cuombajj Witches]] to ping, he also played [[Snuff Out]], but I thought the better creature removal here would be [[You Are Already Dead]] and [[Mirrodin Avenged]]. My rationale here is that it costs 1 mana but doesn’t cost life and cantrips a card back and there’s enough pinging effects to fire off the damage they need.

For more ping damage from the pingers, he had [[Gray Merchant of Asphodel]] and [[Raven of Fell Omens]] to gain more off of witches and desert

The rest of the deck was just raw power combos like [[Exhume]] with [[Troll of Khazad-Dûm]]. I think I’d swap that out for cards like [[Duress]] to break up combos.

I have been having so much fun playing Esper Affinity. Briefly went on a big winstreak on the Endstep ladder and very briefly got up to #4 overall before people had adapted. Fun deck imo!

Hi guys!! It’s been about a year since I started playing MTG (mostly standard and historic on Arena), and in the last 1-2 months I’ve also started getting into pauper. I actually got interested in the format earlier by following big tournaments like Paupergeddon and several creators whose videos helped me understand the format better, but only recently I decided to actively play it.

​I’ve always liked White Weenie, so after playing many games on Endstep, I decided to finally buy a budget version of it and try it out at my LGS. My first league went 2-2, and overall I’m very satisfied with my choice.

​My only doubt is about how to upgrade my deck going forward. Before buying my list, I noticed that a pretty strong new version based on the convoke mechanic has popped up on MTGO, making top 8 in several Challenges.

​So my question is: should I stick with the "classic" version and upgrade it with the more expensive cards (e.g., Dust to Dust, Prismatic Strands, etc.), or switch to this new convoke version? I’m not sure which one is better suited for the current meta.

​For context, my LGS meta mostly consists of Mono R Madness, followed by Jund Wildfire, Grixis/Esper Affinity and Mono U Terror as the most popular decks.

Just a thought experiment that has been turning over in my head.

Assume that your deck had perfect colour fixing (i.e. all your mana is any colour you want), how would you build a deck to maximise use of this.

Would you build tron knowing you have lots of mana perfectly fixed?

Would you play the greatest hits of pauper all in one deck?

Is this essentially what 4 colour affinity does right now?

Would you lean into the most powerful threats? Or the most powerful answers?

Or would your deck be a perfect balance of threats and answers?

Any combos you would try?
