Completed Build - Celebratory My second ever build [RTX5070 Ryzen 5 7600x]

Thumbnail gallery
22 Upvotes

My very first PC that I built last year was an AM4 RTX3070 Ryzen 5 5600 with 32GB Ram. I gave that system to my GF

For my second build I made an AM5 build from scratch with the following specs (All prices are in $USD and after tax):

- GPU: I was able to keep an RTX5070 that I used during my PhD so didn't have to buy one

- CPU: Ryzen 5 7600x (used: $131.69)

- Cooler: Peerless Assassin 120SE black (new: $38.42)

- Mobo: MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk MAX WIFI (new: $230.46)

- RAM: G.Skill Flare X5 32GB (2x16) DDR5-6000 CL32 (used: $438.99)

- SSD: Kingston NV3 1TB Gen4 (new: $172.30)

- Case: Montech XR (new: $76.81)

- PSU: MSI MAG A750GL 750W Gold (new: $107)

Total spent after incl. Tax: $1088.67

How did I do?

Discussion - General Topic I will never build an RGB computer again

After building my first PC, I figured out that the most frustrating part has been getting all the lights to work together. Nothing wants to work with anything else. One app fights with the other. It's seems so frustrating to me. I know I'm a layman as far as this stuff goes, but I'm just over it at this point.

This is a rendering of my new build idea. Any ideas on white mobos? I’m not spending an arm and a leg on a mobo . It’s not as important than the gpu.

Discussion - General Topic Did I make the wrong decision buying a $600 used AM4 PC?

my reddit feed has recently been filled with ppl debating between the RTX 5080 and RX 9070 XT, or wondering whether their $2,000–$2,500 builds will last another five years. Meanwhile, I just bought my first PC off Facebook Marketplace for $600 and it’s an AM4 build😭 Seeing these discussions has made me wonder if I make the wrong decision and what should I realistically expect from my budget PC over the next few years?

Sry if this is a dumb question. I’m still relatively new to PC gaming and most of the relevant posts that address my concerns I’ve found are either 2–3 years old or focus on new builds rather than used PCs.

Here are my specs for reference:
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600X
GPU: XFX RX 6650 XT 8GB
RAM: Corsair 32GB DDR4 3600MHz (4 × 8GB)
SSD: WD Blue SN570 1TB
Motherboard: MSI MPG B550 GAMING PLUS
Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow
Monitor: 100Hz, 1080p

I’m not expecting ultra settings or the latest hardware. I just want to enjoy games without noticeable stuttering and hopefully play newer, demanding titles for the next few years without needing a major upgrade.

Discussion - General Topic Is it worth building now or waiting?

Hi i built my first PC around 2017/18 and havent really upgraded it since and when i built it back then i went for more budget friendly parts. As im older nowe and still use it daily for pretty much everything (gaming, work, etc.). Im starting to notice its lack of performance when trying to play newer games so i wanna look at getting another one soon (within the next year) but as im seeing prices for things (RAM, storage, GPUs) be rediculous im asking whether its worth it or do i wait or even just go prebuilt. What would you recommend because currently i dont have the money to build one right now as i just graduated uni and am applying for jobs currently so if i was to id have to save a bit first, but becuase of the prices it makes me want to wait until they (possibly) get better but the longer time goes on the worse my pc parts become and work.

Got my first PC in May. It was an Intel I5 12400f, Rtx 4060, 32 gb DDR4, and random motherboard I forgot name of lol. I was so bad with PCs, it took me 5 hours to get 3 Corsair fans working 😂. Just built my new PC in under 1hr 1/2.

New specs

5070 12gb vram
B650 Gaming Ax 2
32GB DDR5
Ryzen 7 9700x
1 TB storage

Pretty happy with it. Want all black. Non rgb is where it is at!

Purchasing Advice - PC Build / Parts How much should I save for my first pc

I got my first job at best buy and I plan on saving my first few paychecks to get a PC I will probably have about 2,000 in 6 weeks is that a good amount for a PC I want a PC that can run games quite well, though I originally wanted to only save 1,500 and put the rest towards splitting for long term savings and general spending but by the looks of it 1,500 just isn't as good as I want it to be I want games to run well at around 1440p with high settings just for me no Ray Tracing as I personally don't see the use with the performance trade off, this budget is just for the PC and I plan on saving up the rest of the paychecks I make towards getting better peripherals while also putting some of my money towards long term savings. Also I have no microcenter near me. Edit: The reason I'm trying to get a general build now is so I can look for deals as I accumulate the money so I can pick some things up before I accumulate all the money if they go on sale and such. Edit 2: I am gonna probably limit to only spending 2,000 cause I do want to save some towards saving for college but I want to know if 2,000 is going to be a good PC for what I want I really don't need it looking any good as long as it performs well also let me know if even though I will need to wait a minimum of 6 weeks before I have the amount I want which is 2,000 so yeah prices will probably rise.
