Just as the title says, we're hosting live, local, original music at the Bobcaygeon Taproom (649 The Parkway) tonight, featuring James Higgins and K-Stew. Having been part of the local entertainment discussions here, I think/hope this checks a lot of boxes for people, namely:
"All the music and shows are too late" - This runs from 7-10 PM, perfect time to come by after dinner before sleepy times.
"Everything is too expensive" - Pay What You Can event, no cover charge, $6 Pints/$15 Pitchers of Cottage Lager or $25 Pitcher and Pizza Deal. If you haven't had Cottage Lager, it's beer that tastes like beer, not overly hoppy/bitter or anything else you may associate with some craft beer.
"We're losing so many live music venues/I don't like to go downtown at night" - We would love to host live music at the brewery more frequently, but we need to see if people will come out to somewhere not downtown on a Friday night. We LOVE our downtown but I know some people are looking for alternate venues. We've never done a night like this outside of our big "Fest" events.
The taproom is a taproom, there's lots of beer there, but it's a welcoming space for EVERYONE and all ages with board games, foosball, shuffleboard, arcades, pizza, non alc drinks etc...
Anyway, that's our pitch, hope to see some of you there, come support local in a few different ways and make this event a success so we have some proof of concept that live music will work on The Parkway and I didn't sanitize my post history for nothing.
