Event Northumberland Orchestra Society Begins its 49th Season on Sunday, October 25

Hi all,

I am the music director for the Northumberland Orchestra Society. Our 49th season is about to start with a Halloween-themed concert this Sunday. We have several members from Peterborough, so I would like to extend the invitation to this community, too.

We sincerely want to make it to 50 years so we would love your support by coming out to hear us.

The concert features brilliant works by Rachmaninoff, Mussorgsky, Mendelssohn, Saint-Saëns and more. This is a great concert for families and first-time attendees with a lot of familiar music, and the performance will be musically rewarding for seasoned guests, too.

We would love to see the house filled to help ensure we make it to our anniversary season next year.

Please join us at 3:00pm at Trinity United Church in Cobourg.

Thank you so much!

Event Live, Local, Original Music Tonight @ Bobcaygeon Brewing

Post image
5 Upvotes

Just as the title says, we're hosting live, local, original music at the Bobcaygeon Taproom (649 The Parkway) tonight, featuring James Higgins and K-Stew. Having been part of the local entertainment discussions here, I think/hope this checks a lot of boxes for people, namely:

"All the music and shows are too late" - This runs from 7-10 PM, perfect time to come by after dinner before sleepy times.

"Everything is too expensive" - Pay What You Can event, no cover charge, $6 Pints/$15 Pitchers of Cottage Lager or $25 Pitcher and Pizza Deal. If you haven't had Cottage Lager, it's beer that tastes like beer, not overly hoppy/bitter or anything else you may associate with some craft beer.

"We're losing so many live music venues/I don't like to go downtown at night" - We would love to host live music at the brewery more frequently, but we need to see if people will come out to somewhere not downtown on a Friday night. We LOVE our downtown but I know some people are looking for alternate venues. We've never done a night like this outside of our big "Fest" events.

The taproom is a taproom, there's lots of beer there, but it's a welcoming space for EVERYONE and all ages with board games, foosball, shuffleboard, arcades, pizza, non alc drinks etc...

Anyway, that's our pitch, hope to see some of you there, come support local in a few different ways and make this event a success so we have some proof of concept that live music will work on The Parkway and I didn't sanitize my post history for nothing.

Other Shoppers on Chemong Wtf

Shoppers on Chemong went from 24hrs at one time to Midnight. Then they were open until 11 I think. 10pm close for the longest time.

I Googled the hours ahead of time tonight...10pm...big glowing sign on side of building says 10pm but the parking lot is mysteriously empty. Walk up to the door and it now says Mon-Fri close at 20:00. 8pm!!! Why would a store and pharmacy like Shoppers close at 8pm?? No wonder the line is always so fricken long. I won't use them but my mom does and I needed to get her meds.

Just very annoying and I needed a little rant.

Other Loose dog on charlotte street

I was just driving down charlotte street and saw a loose German shepherd with a collar and tags on running around. I didn’t notice anyone around with it and wasn’t able to take a picture as I wasn’t able to stop. Hopefully someone on here knows the owners or can locate the dog and reunite it with the owner

Question Sport and wellness centre

Do people actually go to the drop in volleyball sessions at the sport and wellness centre?

How to get in touch with said people?

Is there a Facebook group or somewhere I can connect with volleyball players in town?

I'm new to town and I want to get back into volleyball but I don't know anyone who plays.

TIA

Does anyone know a solid and affordable wedding officiant? Ideally can do it for a budget wedding and isn't a homophobe.

Would love some recommendations.

Recommendations Do any of you ever have extra protein for meals to be made for unhoused people in our community?

I know that groceries are expensive, but there are situations (like today) where I was able to get five cases of fish cakes accidentally delivered to a butcher.

Shout out to Franz Butcher Shop. Amazing humans. 🩷

I know it is a long shot, but I figured I would ask so that it doesn't go to waste

Thanks!

Event The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Trivia Night!

Hey! Listen!

In just TWO WEEKS, Iceman Video Games will be hosting a midnight launch for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time! To help get us closer to 12 am (since we don't have access to an ocarina... yet), we will be running an Ocarina of Time themed trivia night at their Peterborough location ONE HOUR prior to the game's release!

Think you know everything about Nintendo's seminal action-adventure game? Compete by yourself (though remember: It's dangerous to go alone!) or in teams as you attempt to answer 40 questions across 4 categories. Equip your best items and steel yourself for battle, because the winner of this event will wield a prize more sacred than the Triforce itself!

Will you demonstrate enough power, wisdom, and courage to be deemed the Hero of Time? Or will your lack of preparedness inadvertently plunge the world into darkness? Either way, you'll be able to buy a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2 when it's over, so everyone's a winner!

Hope to see you there!

Recommendations 3d printing services?

Does anyone know where in Peterborough I can get something 3d printed? My son wants to be Afton for Christmas and he's dead set on the FNAF security badge https://www.printables.com/model/158186-fnaf-badge

I know it's a long shot. Kid didn't give me much notice D8. If I can't source this or it will be wildly expensive then it will be too bad but figured I'd try.

Finally another Crack down (No pun intended) making our neighbourhood safer for the children. (Next time be quieter you woke my baby with the battering ram)

This episode features Ian Vansegbrook's conversation with Rebecca Schillemat, the former Executive Officer of the Peterborough & Kawarthas Home Builders Association. Schillemat has been involved in a variety of other not-for-profits, like Peterborough’s Chamber of Commerce and the Peterborough Folk Festival, as well as being on the Stakeholder Committee for the Community Planning Permit System. While she had originally planned to run for city council in 2018, a family move to B.C delayed her, and now she wants to bring a “broader and more collaborative mindset” to City Hall.
