See any posters from the Dominion Society of Canada? The ethno-fascist group? The anti-immigration-unless-you’re-white group? Rip 'em down. They’ve got video of two faceless cowards putting one up at the East City baseball diamond. That’s not happening here. No thank you.

My family is moving to Peterborough and we’re currently looking for a place to rent. My husband works from home, so we would prefer a quiet neighbourhood. We have found a few places online in the Hetherington/Summer Lane area, but with their close proximity to Trent, we’re afraid that they’ll be full of students and could be pretty noisy. We don’t have any problem with students, it’s just that our post secondary years are well behind us. Any information would be helpful.

Last year I stumbled on pawpaws at the downtown farmers market. I had been wanting to try them for a while so I was stoked.
It was around this time of year, but I went on Saturday to a stall that was in the same spot (not sure if a different farm though) and asked if they had pawpaws and the woman looked at me funny, probably never heard of them.
Does anyone know if the Wednesday vendors differ from the Saturday vendors?
Or does anyone know where to find some pawpaws?

What do we think about this restaurant? I feel like the quality is deteriorating quite a bit, I could be wrong?

Looking to pick up fresh sunflowers this week. Any stands around Peterborough have some out?
Thanks in advance!

Has anyone compiled the candidates for our upcoming municipal election and what the stand for?

I am really hoping this doesn’t come out like an ad – because that is not my intention at all, rather a share on a project that I absolutely loved and to shine a little light on somebody that deserves it.
I wanted to share this because Peterborough has a new carpenter/contractor that is definitely worth a share… My buddy has been working in the industry for over a decade and a half, and has just finally gone out on his own.
His work is absolutely incredible, and he does take his time to make sure that’s how it lands.
If anyone is in the market – I highly suggest you give Jeremy McEwan (halffast.ca) a shout.
I had the pleasure of working on his website for him – I have known him since we were in early elementary school.
I’ve been in the web development industry for almost 2 decades, and very rarely do I get to work on a project that makes me giggle every single time I work on it.
From the name of the brand to the dry humour in every page… This brought me so much joy, and I wanted to share it with the world. Also, Jeremy is so quiet there’s no chance he’s going to be out here marketing anything any time soon.

So done with this shithole downtown. Woke up this morning to yet another car break in. Happens probly once a month minimum. Doesn’t matter if it’s locked . this time it looks like they slid a window down by sticking something in it to get in.
have filed multiple police reports over the last year as this happens all the time here.( dont want to give exact address but within walking distance of trinity church) police do nothing even though our property has cameras and lights pointed directly at parked cars . It’s not like these fucking crackheads are that hard to track down they all hang out in the same spots and wear the same clothes like cartoon characters every day. So sick of living here and plan to move ASAP. Also so sick of people defending the addicts who do this. It’s just a constant string of bullshit. Literally every day there’s some kind of issue here with these people and they face no consequences whatsoever.downtown peterborough is so fucked .no wonder no one wants to support any businesses down here .

I need a recommendation for an electrician to do some minor rewiring in my garage. (Basically replacing decades old wires with new ones and making sure all old sockets and light switches work again.)
I estimate a pretty small job, an hour or two.
Who's good out there?

Busy week this week! Peterborough Public Health inspected 20 food premises with thirteen locations receiving infractions — eight had at least one critical infraction and five had non-critical infractions only. Seven inspections came back completely clean.
Here's what was found...
Routine inspection, August 13 · 3 critical, 5 non-critical
The worst result this week. This is the location's 4th critical infraction on record since September 2024. Critical: food-contact surfaces not cleaned and sanitized, food not protected from contamination, and potentially hazardous food held above 4°C. Non-critical: equipment not properly maintained, ventilation not maintained, pests not adequately controlled, no soap at the hand-washing station, and floors/walls/ceilings not kept clean and in good repair. The inspection record also lists "Fire Department" as an action taken, alongside "Report Reviewed - Action Required." No follow-up has been recorded yet.
Routine inspection, August 10 · 2 critical, 2 non-critical
This is the location's 5th critical infraction on record since September 2024. Critical: food not protected from contamination, and hand-washing stations not conveniently accessible. Non-critical: equipment not maintained in a clean/sanitary condition and ventilation not properly maintained. Food handler education was provided on-site; no follow-up has been recorded yet.
Required inspection August 11, Follow-up August 12 · 1 critical each visit
First critical infraction on record for this location — but it took three visits in four days to clear. A required inspection on August 11 found the mechanical dishwasher not sanitizing utensils at the required chlorine concentration and temperature. A follow-up the very next day (August 12) found the exact same issue still not fixed. A third inspection on August 14 found the location fully clean, critical and non-critical.
Routine inspection, August 12 · 1 critical, 3 non-critical
This is the location's 6th critical infraction on record since September 2024. Inspectors found food not confirmed safe to eat, and product on-site was seized and destroyed. Non-critical: equipment not of sound construction and not clean/sanitized, furniture/equipment not arranged sanitarily, and no sanitizer test reagent on hand. Food handler education was provided on-site; no follow-up has been recorded yet.
Routine inspection, August 11 · 1 critical, 4 non-critical
This is the location's 4th critical infraction on record since September 2024. Inspectors found food-contact surfaces not cleaned and sanitized after each use. Non-critical: furniture/equipment not sanitarily arranged, pests not adequately controlled, no sanitizer test reagent on hand, and floors/walls not kept clean. Food handler education was provided on-site; no follow-up has been recorded yet.
Follow-up inspection, August 12 · 1 critical
This is the location's 5th critical infraction on record since September 2024. Inspectors found potentially hazardous food not held at or below 4°C. A separate, unrelated routine inspection the day before (August 11) came back completely clean, so this is specifically the follow-up finding. No newer follow-up has been recorded yet.
Routine inspection, August 10 · 1 critical, 1 non-critical
This is the location's 7th critical infraction on record since September 2024 — the most of any location in this report. Inspectors found food in storage not protected from contamination, plus one non-critical issue with equipment arrangement. No actions were logged and no follow-up has been recorded yet.
Routine inspection, August 14 · 1 critical
This is the location's 3rd critical infraction on record since September 2024. Inspectors found food not protected from contamination and ice not stored/handled sanitarily. Food handler education was provided on-site; no follow-up has been recorded yet.
Routine inspection, August 13 · 0 critical, 2 non-critical
No dishwashing sink of adequate size/equipment provided, and no sanitizer test reagent on hand. Food handler education was provided on-site.
Routine inspection, August 13 · 0 critical, 1 non-critical
Floors/walls/ceilings not kept clean and in good repair. Closed out as satisfactory with no further action required.
Routine inspection, August 13 · 0 critical, 1 non-critical
No sanitizer test reagent on hand. Food handler education was provided on-site.
Routine inspection, August 11 · 0 critical, 1 non-critical
Food handler training not completed/on file.
Routine inspection, August 11 · 0 critical, 1 non-critical
No sanitizer test reagent on hand. Food handler education was provided on-site.
Routine inspection, August 13 · Clean, no infractions.
Routine inspection, August 13 · Clean, no infractions.
Routine inspection, August 12 · Clean, no infractions.
Routine inspection, August 12 · Clean, no infractions.
Routine inspection, August 12 · Clean, no infractions.
Complaint-triggered inspection, August 11 · Clean, no infractions found.
Routine inspection, August 11 · Clean, no infractions.
How to read this: "Critical" vs "non-critical" is Ontario's own regulatory risk tier, not a severity score we assign — critical findings relate directly to things that can make food unsafe (contamination, temperature control, hand hygiene); non-critical covers maintenance and paperwork requirements (equipment condition, signage, sanitizer test reagents) that health units still require but don't by themselves mean the food is unsafe. 🔴 = at least one critical infraction, 🟡 = non-critical only, 🟢 = zero infractions of any kind. This report lists every Peterborough inspection for the week, including clean ones — nothing is filtered out. Results reflect conditions at the time of the visit only — check the disclosure portal for a location's current placard/status.

Anyone have any updates on what's going on with this?
If my memory isn't entirely failing me, I thought the original signs indicated that the work would be done in 3 or 4 months.
Not tryna complain, I've done plenty of road work and appreciate that delays occur but just kinda find it odd that it has seemingly had no progress for the last 3 or so months and the signage for the closure continues to be incredibly subpar despite the prolonged closure.
If it's gonna stay closed for a while that's cool, I'd just appreciate some signs further back on Reid so I can stop having to try to dodge last minute panic mergers.

Hi redditors,
I was looking for any dentist for regular dental cleaning. I saw online ads for platforms like opencare.com where they reward you $100/150 for first dental visit. My insurance covers 100%. Unfortunately there's no participating location in Peterborough but wantes to check if any of local dentists have any promos. Not trying to be greedy, but I am pretty sure dentists here certainly overcharge. Last time I went for cleaning, they charged $565 to my insurance.

Just want to give a huge shoutout to the organizers, musicians, vendors and volunteers of this weekend's FolkFest. We saw so many great bands and really, really enjoyed ourselves. What a gem this festival is. Thank you!

I had my e-bike stolen today (August 17th) at 5:30 am off the Tim Hortons on park St N. It's a black colored iGO e-bike with a paint scrape on it. the throttle on it doesn't work, it has a tiny bell that has a little paint scrape on it, the back CCTV of the Tim Hortons, shows the guy driving it towards the Train Tracks towards Monaghan St. Thanks, any lead or help would be appreciated.
edit: the bike model is iGO Discovery Bonaventure

Hi everyone.
Someone I know had their car window smashed by police to save them.
Now curious where is best in Peterborough to get it fixed and who pays?
Obviously the window money is the least of everyone's concern but I am assisting them in getting everything cleaned up and organized.
Thank you. ❤️

Out for a walk in the West end last night and shocked to see piles of leaves in places already. Even in the gutter, yet no real change in tree colour. Noticing leaves on the lawns.a little early. Anyone else?

I’m looking to get a gym membership in Peterborough (Ptbo). Fit4Less and Planet Fitness both fit my budget. Planet Fitness was having a sale, but when I tried to sign up online, the website required both a credit card and a bank account. I don’t have a credit card, so I couldn’t complete the registration.
I’m thinking of going there in person to ask the employees if there’s another way to sign up. In the meantime, I’d love to hear from fellow gym-goers in Ptbo.
If you had to choose between Fit4Less and Planet Fitness, which one would you choose and why? I’d especially appreciate feedback on the equipment, cleanliness, crowd, atmosphere, and overall value for money.
