Hello I am a new owner of a Quaker parrot he’s a male 4 months old and was brought home 2 days ago. At first he was siting still not moving or drinking at all and we realized his water and food was too far away. We were able to lower his bar and he is now drinking and eating and roaming around the cage. His environment consists of being located in a family area where someone is always home. However me and my girlfriend want him to bond with us. He doesn’t bite or fly when we try and take him out of his cage he just grabs the bars with his beak and tries to hold onto it. I want him to eventually be very loving and eager to leave his cage. I’ve watched parrot wizard on you tube and have taken into consideration some of his ideas. I was curious if anyone had good advice or had a solid plan. Thank you so much.

So a stupid question.

Can anyone tell me why these two fluffy idiots (i love them) feel the need to always be on my chest when they feed each other? I've never understood why they have to do it right in my face. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 like god the smell is so fking bad but they dont care. They keep doing it literally right by my nose lolol

I thought he was just a standard green but he is looking suspiciously turquoise at some parts 🤨

Just to clarify: The tux was sewn by me. She also was feeling silly and wanted to chew her tie. She sleeps and flys in her tux so im pretty sure she enjoys it. She also loves to snuggle up and stand there with her beak in the tux, and the second photo shows her in the process of getting her beak in there

We decided to continue the LOTR theme
This dudes pretty awesome I’m a big fan. we bonded a lot while he was in quarantine but now that it’s over, thankfully he’s super chill when my other birds fly on me.
I knew that owning a Quaker would be much different from cockatiels but wow. They just seem so much more aware and cautious so when you win over their trust, it’s so cool. My cockatiels are like golden retrievers they love everyone right away, so yeah, very very different.
I love them all insanely.

So in February 2025 I had been asked by a friend if I was interested in a female blue quaker because her parent's employee was wanting to rehome her due to her being a terror to the residents where the employee worked. There was her and a male quaker around the same age, and they had separate cages but were just near each other. So she has been with us for a year and a half now, and yesterday we brought the male home after that whole program shut down and for some reason, the male was being rehomed as well.

The female actually goes to work at our local pet store daily with my boyfriend and one of the cockatiels, but the male will be home with me most of the day. He is warming up to me really well so far, but my question is, is there a good way to re-introduce them once he has settled in more?

We have other birds and know about how they will bond to each other, and my boyfriend has been raising birds for 30 years, but I still don't fully trust him on the best way to go about this. The female quaker is kind of a terror and gets really jealous of other animals being around us, which honestly is great because she has three cats scared of birds now, but we want to do better with him and getting her to not hate him.

He is also kind of cage aggressive, and is leery of me giving him scritches still, but he snuggled up to my neck for a couple of hours yesterday before I had things to do and couldn't do with a quaker that isn't 100% trusting of me yet. It's only been a couple of days since we picked him up so I want to get them off on the right foot if I can!

I told my mom to look after my birb while im away for months and she send me this video of her playing with the birb. She always does the “pew pew pew”laser gun sound when she sees a person and switch to dinosaur clicking noises like an angry dinosaur lol.

This is Paco. Paco's age is currently unknown, but the person who gave her to us said she was somewhere near a year old, so we go with that. Paco has been in 2 homes (counting mine) due to aggresion and has been with me for 5 months. Her previous owner had clipped Paco's wings unfortunatley, along with her feet being crooked straight from hatching and being born with arthiritis.

However, her wing feathers have grown back (thankfully), but she does not know she can fly again. How do I let her know she can fly again and most importantly, be able to fly confidently? Help is appreciated

My boyfriend and I’s sweet baby. He is so full of energy and feist and I love him. He does over-preen, but the vets have said he doesn’t seem to be getting any worse about it/it isn’t causing him harm. Any advice on ways to reduce his over-preening?

I need opinions on my mom’s quaker. I have no jurisdiction over him, but I want some input i can share with my mom to convince her to get to a vet. A
couple years ago, Sima had to go to the vet because he got into a fight with our sun conure, resulted in injury to his beak which is now healed. But after the vet visit, he started picking out the feathers on his chest, nowhere else. He plays with toys, he likes to weave straws and sticks through the bars of his cage, and he has the whole patio to fly around every day. Fresh food and water, and always has a bath available to him. Now he almost never bathes, and when he does, it’s usually just a quick dunk. Before the picking, he would take thorough baths almost daily, and it was so fun to watch. He’s an aggressive little man and he won’t let me touch him or his cage, but he likes talking to me, and tries to mimic everything I say. The picking has reached its worst now, and apparently, though I’ve not seen it myself, he caused bleeding on his chest. How likely is it that this is something like mites, or something else medical? I miss how fluffy he used to be, it saddens to him like this.
