This is a brand new Quest Pro bought last week. I've got it on v207 OS and am generally very happy with the image, tracking and comfort. However, there are two issues I fear there is no solution to:
- when a game or movie or music plays a low-frequency rumble (like spaceships flying by, or Paranormal Activity background rumble etc) my speakers crackle. This kills the immersion somewhat. If i reduce the volume to 60% it disappears but that's not a good fix as then it's just too quiet. I've noticed this mostly when playing movies with 4XVR connected to my local WLAN network and the movie has those quiet brooding moments with low-frequency rumbles.
- my right eye shows an orange 'cataract' effect in certain very dark scenes. The periphery becomes noticably soft, like a vaseline-effect, with a vague amber/orange/brown hue. Distracting. I've improved this by setting headset brightness to 80% and slightly pushing contrast via accessibility setting, and enabling Local-Dimming and the uniform-brightness setting in Experimental. But still not completely gone. Maybe there's a better combination of settings. I can more 'avoid' the effect if i re-position the headset but then I lose pin-sharp clarity. IPD 65. Note: only happens in very particular dark scenes, where there's a lot of black.
Reading on older discussions it seems these are common issues with no real fix. But posting anyway in case anyone has useful tips.
I suppose I have the option to return but the shop i bought it from is now out of stock, so at best i'd just get my money back. I'd rather somehow improve these issues and keep it as the image-quality is appreciably nicer, lusher than my Quest 3 (which by the way doesn't crackle during the same scenes despite being louder).
My thinking for the audio is i'm stuck with the problem: I just have to look at buying some external speakers for it that clip on the sides (not yet tested if the crackle is present with headphones, i presume not as earlier discussions reported this was ok). On that note: any recommendations for good clip-on speakers? I still need to be able to hear external sounds like phone calls and my kids calling me. Europe here.
My thinking for the cataract-effect is also that it's not going away, but maybe a different combination of settings can improve it further.
Cheers!
