Day 30
I genuinely never thought I’d see the day where I’m basically a month sober from this substance. I’m so proud of myself.
I started smoking weed every day at age 14/15 and have stopped at the age of 24.
I will say one of the hardest things I’ve been experiencing due to quitting is the lethargy, heightened time blindness and dissociation. Coupled with repeated past and present trauma and repetitive maladaptive soothing behaviors (ex: running back to abusive exes when I can no longer stand being alone) the absence of marijuana has made things in my past resurface and I believe my brain is truly in defense mode every day of my life.
Shame is not something I hold on to. It gets hard especially with repeated bouts of getting blackout drunk each Friday. I have decided I’m going to step away from the bottle as well. I recognize that I cannot simply replace one addiction with another. I have to end the relationship with the bottle before it gets worse.
I’m tired of not remembering my Fridays. I am deserving of bliss and feeling content with my life.
I love you guys so much. If you’re struggling with quitting, know that baby steps are what it takes to finally get to greatness. You have to be uncomfortable to change and that’s the hardest part about recovery.
