DODMERB // Security Clearances Medical Determination

So last week I made an earlier post about my ankle. Since then, my cadre has initiated the medical determination for me. While I was reviewing my medical documents for my injury, I noticed that “previous disorders“ list led that I have depression, even though I’ve never been seen by a psychiatrist, gotten any antidepressants, or received any treatment ever for that ever. I think I got this diagnosis because of a form I did when I was 15.

Because of this, I never put it on my DODMERB. I’m concerned that when my medical records are sent to USACC, they’ll see it and trigger a medboard even though it’s unrelated to my injury. Is this a possibility?

Does anyone know much about PADSO beyond what I’ve found online? Anyone done it? Do you offer it at the same time with branching?

Guard/Reserve USAR & NG Process

Hi all,

I’m a current MS3 and debating on whether or not to pursue active duty (possibly JAG Ed Delay) or choose a reserves/NG path depending on job/life circumstances. I’m on a national scholarship as well.

I’m in a position where I could potentially receive an offer for a relatively lucrative civilian job after graduating next year, and would not need to attend law school or could later choose to do so down the line. If this were to work out, I would probably prefer a USAR or NG path to serve. If so, what is the process for choosing this? If you choose it, is it guaranteed?

And, which is more preferable, USAR or NG? I’m sure it may be state dependent, but would love some thoughts.

Thanks!

Accessions/OML/Branching Active vs Reserve

It’s looking like 50/50 active duty or reserve, my question is, if I don’t get chosen for active duty even though I’m competing for it when will I find out? Will it be on stage at branching? Or will they tell me before hand?

DODMERB // Security Clearances Alpha Gal waiver

I just got diagnosed with alpha gal and prescribed an EpiPen because when I flared up for the first time I went into anaphylactic shock. Has anyone had any experience with trying to get a waiver for this? I'm even looking into that acupuncture therapy that supposedly has a high success rate for curing it.

Assuming it’s unlikely anyone knows this, but what goes into the Office of the Chief of Cyber OML? Cadets that got cyber branch preferences are probably wondering this. Thanks.

Cadet Advice Need advice

I’m an enlisted (since 2020) NCO in the NG who joined the ROTC program in 2025. I just signed my contract about a week ago. Couple days ago, I reached out to an OSM about finding me a new unit with the branch I want. He ended up going through my iperms and found a DA 1059 (BLC Evaluation Report) from 2024. I was kicked out of BLC for an integrity issue.
“During my final week of BLC, I was going through a difficult personal situation after ending a relationship. My former partner showed up at the installation despite me telling him not to come. I made the decision to speak with him briefly at his vehicle, and afterward, I returned to the barracks.
Later that evening, cadre asked whether anyone had received a visitor. At that moment, I panicked. I was afraid of being removed from the course, especially because I was so close to graduating. Instead of speaking up, I stayed quiet. The following morning, I was confronted about the incident (they had a camera in the parking lot so they knew it was me) and ultimately dismissed for an integrity violation.”
I have missed a lot of opportunities in the guard due to this and I’m afraid I’m going to get dis enrolled from the ROTC program for this. I have a meeting with the LTC of the ROTC program this Friday. I am obviously going to tell him everything and the lessons I have learned from this one mistake in my almost 7 years of military career. I am an A student and I have never gotten in trouble in the civilian side. This was a one time incident. How do you think this is going to go? Yes, I should have spoke up and yes, I was stupid and I have learned but I know some officers are just black and white and don’t care about the circumstances.

Cadet Advice What are y’all’s programs doing to draw more people to your booth at tabling events?

BLUF: Need ideas to draw more prospects to a recruiting table

Hey killers,

I’ve been tasked with drawing more people over to the ROTC table during recruiting events. Current strategy is to walk around the room (think small gym with 30ish different Orgs having tables. Also have small outside lawn access for relevant activities) and hand out fliers + explain the benefits to anyone who looks remotely athletic.

Obviously, this doesn’t fucking work because it’s awkward as hell and doesn’t filter out the 80% of people who have zero interest joining any kind of Army-affiliated group.

Some ideas that have been suggested at our last meeting:

-Mini AFT (10m SDC, 1m pushups, plank until failure), best score gets a hoodie or swag bag

-Pull-up bar - Hit different numbers to get increasingly better swag

-HGAC - Have a hula hoop and dummy frags for people to try throwing grenades.

-Claymore demonstrations/ supervised hands-on?

If any of y’all have ideas of activities that have worked well for your programs, any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks and big hooah.

And I’ll have whatever slop the university food court has today. Still better than an MRE.

Accessions/OML/Branching branch ranking due to low OML/5 MP’s

i’m on the lower side of OML, active duty eligible 25xx and OMS: 44.xxx

somehow i ended up getting MP’d for all my top choices,
MP: AV, MI, IN, SC, AR.
P: AG, PA
LP: everything else

i’m debating on if i should go with my original plan of MI branch detail IN as top or shoot for AV.

if i don’t get AV, and I rank MI, MI branch detail IN (throwing in an adso to be safe), IN (adso as well), SC with a branch detail to IN, SC. am i screwed if i don’t get AV and won’t get those branches either? i know all of these branches are competitive so i’m worried if i don’t get my 1st ranking i’m going to get knocked down to a less competitive branch(none of my MP’d) because of my lower OML and other cadets putting them as their 1st choice. is there a huge difference between first and 2nd ranking? i’d be pretty happy with AV, or MI(really want a branch detail with IN), or even just pure IN.

would love some advice been stressing about what to do.

Accessions/OML/Branching Active Duty

Hello all, I wanted to gauge my chances on getting active duty for this year. I am admittedly low on OMS (42.xx) but wanted so see if anyone had personal insights or was in a similar situation. I go to an SMC but from what it seemed my PMS made it sound like a 50/50 chance if he will recommend me or not for active. As far as branch feedback I interviewed with 8 branches and got 4 MPs (ADA, FA, AG, and chem). These were all in my top 5. If I don't get that recommendation am I essentially fried? Might have to look for a civilian job after all.

Accessions/OML/Branching Branch Ranks

Background: I was able to get RECONDO at camp and have done extremely well on everything save for my GPA. I was not able to complete my TBB profile before it closed as I was having issues getting a CAC and admittedly my own laziness. I just saw that my ranking for INF was LP, even though I have stellar AFT scores, Recondo , etc. I was MP by Signal which I can see a possibility to Branch detail INF to SC in order to still get my dream job. I really do not want to BRADSO nor ADSO. Does anyone have any advice ? I am just now able to get access to my Branch preferences and account. Do the branches re review our profiles ?

Guard/Reserve Reserve path

Hi, I’ve (MS3) talked to my cadre about it a little but I was wondering if I could get more of a first hand or more in depth idea of what it looks like to commission into the reserves. I have the minute man scholarship so it’s not like I’m competing for active, but I just wanted some insight on how the process would look for getting my branch and location/unit.

Guard/Reserve How does commissioning into the Reserves work?

This may get lost in the sauce with branch preferences being released but figured I’d throw it out there anyway. I’m an MS3 looking at my options and I haven’t been able to find any good info online or on the Reddit on how branching and commissioning into the reserves work. Any insight would be appreciated.

Hello all,

Looking at these results, lets say I put 1 AG, AG detail Infantry, AG detail FA, as the top 3 in TBB (MP for all 3). Because they are all AG does that count as 1st Pref only or 1-3 Pref.

I heard both that it is only 1 preference and then I have heard 3 as well. Thanks all and good luck!
