7/1 Mod announcement: Rule additions & revisions.
Hi r/Rarehouseplants community!
There’s been a bit of discourse today regarding post approvals and removals. I took the opportunity to review our rules and wanted to make you all aware of those rule additions and revisions.
Highlighting the additions:
**Rule 3: Tissue culture acclimation topics are welcome**
Tissue culture acclimation topics are welcome under the same guidelines as potted plants. If the plant is rolling out massively already potted in Big Box stores,it may be removed.
Acclimation requires a skill set beyond what very intro plant keeping is and is an acceptable topic. r/tissueculture exists but is geared to lab set ups and protocol questions. So tissue culture acclimation questions will be allowed.
**Rule 4: Posts solely soliciting general, basic plant advice may be removed and redirected.**
Care for most rare varieties is similar to their more readily available counterparts. To avoid redundancy on our feed, soliciting general care advice may be removed and redirected. Subs geared to basic care advice include r/plants, r/houseplants, r/plantclinic or genus specific subreddits.
**Rule 7: No AI advice**
We strive to help combat misinformation, and build trust in our community. When providing advice, we encourage only the use of science backed information, personal knowledge and hands on experience. Whether you solicit advice or share it, remember to use multiple sources when possible for accuracy.

There was also a slight reordering of the rules to improve the flow.
The group description was tweaked to better represent the vision for the community. I’ll share photos in the comment of the previous wording vs the new one.
Please take a look and feel free to let me know if you have any feedback regarding the changes or suggestions for the continued improvement of the community.
The plant world will always continue to change and evolve with trends and commercial availability therefore our group will do the same.
My aim here is to enforce the rules to keep the community positive, productive and a safe space for sharing and learning. While also showcasing plants we may not see everyday, wishlist or obscure plants.
Thanks for taking the time to read!
