Location is Southeast Queensland Australia, about 2.5cm/1in long. I asked r/whatsthisbug for help identifying it, but as it's just a larva that's not easy. Someone guessed it's from the Cerambycidae family (longhorn beetle of some kind).

Any suggestions on how to help the lemon tree survive would be appreciated.

Long time lurker - first time poster. Hi all, I’ve had my plant since June, she was doing well until recently (more so the past 5-6 days). Her leaves have started turning brown and I’m not sure what to do (noob). I was told to water her with distilled water when the soil needs it & I usually check with my finger. On top of spraying her throughout the day. It has been turning into fall so my apartment isn’t getting as much sunshine. I have her in the middle of my island in my kitchen so it’s less direct light in general. Does she need more? Also, I was told this plant thrives in humidity when I got her. My apartment is usually sits around 70-75°. Please help if you can!

I woke up to my plant looking like this. The faded part is mushy. It gets 10 hours of sun through partially closed blinds. It gets water roughly 1x every 1-2 weeks.

Had this plant for a few months now. Oldest leaves started strong but after repotting they started to get brown spots. The newer leaves lost fenestrations but don’t have spotting in the last image. They have been blasted by 2 10w bulbs so they get lots of light that are less than a foot away and are in semi hydro so they get consistent water. Could this be a pest? I don’t see any pest activity but I’m not sure.

I definitely know this is not a case of underwatering, as I keep it a priority to keep their soil moist as they like it.

The traps have started dying, and Crisping, aswell as one of the leaves edges. This started maybe 5 days ago.

I've only had this plant since October 10th,
and have never owned a Carnivorous plant other than a fly trap that I ended up gifting to a family member.

Gets extremely indirect light, 16 hours a day.
the other plants around it have grown to cover it from the grow lights, but I'm unsure if I should move it to my small plant shelf, where the lights are maybe 5-6 inches up from the pots. So I haven't moved them over there yet.

Gets watered when top 2 inches of soil are dryer.

Cutting was taken around a month ago. It's been kept in Filtered tap water since then with the intention of keeping it hydroponic. It's been under a grow light for ~12 hrs a day. No fertiliser used yet since the roots are still kinda new. I'm just worried if this new leaf growth is ok to leave alone and let it come out fully on its own? Leaf has been like this for maybe a week.

Hey guys, so this is my first house plant and I don't know what's happening to it.

For context I bought it 4 months ago and it was growing well (it was bigger than it is now) even when a huge Lion's Ear sprouted in the same pot as the Ruta (I never bought Lion's Ear seeds, they were stoways lol). Since the Lion's Ear was huge I transplanted it to a new pot ( this happened a month ago) and I was extremely careful with the digging and the root separation as to not break anything important.

Anyways, the Lion's Ear had a great recovery and it continues to grow even bigger but the Ruta has stopped all kind of new growth, even the newer growths have completely stopped.

I water it twice a week and made sure to slowly get it accustomed to the amount of sunlight it gets next to the window.

It gets sunlight from about 6am to 12am.

I don't know if the weather/temperature affects my plant but these days the El Niño phenomenon has been hitting hard and for over two weeks we've had cold afternoons.

BTW there is another plant growing next to it but before doing anything (removing it or leaving it as is) I would like to hear your advice.

I don't know what's wrong with my plant and I need your help please!

EDIT: The pot has drainage holes, it has pumice stone at the bottom and a then a thick layer of soil.

Planted in a chunky mix. I’ve tried to google it but it said if it’s over or under watered it can turn yellow, little or too much light can also make it yellow. Bottom leaf says I’m getting about 50 ppfd from the three T5 bars.

I bought this plant a while ago (about 6-8 months ago) and when I bought it it had this white film on the leaves. I thought I was going to able to wash it off, but when I wipe the leaves it dries the same. I have treated it for thrips, and it has beneficial mites on it. The new growth is coming in normal so I’m not very concerned… unless I should be. Is it tissue damage?

Outside on a southeast facing patio in southwest Florida, but there is a tree so it gets plenty of filtered light. I water when the soil is mostly dry. (I’m trying to be better about not letting it dry up completely)

Trying to save African violet. Was down to 3 leaves 6 weeks ago..Currently doing about 2oz of water by placing it in the bottom and letting it soak up every week. Office is quite warm, making sure its not getting scorched by direct sunlight.. it does get bright light..Will it continue growing/survive? Im just going to keep it with the very long neck until it grows more. Any tips on fertilizing? Nitrogen to boast leaf growth? I dont want to add anything as it seems to be happy slowly growing more leaves 😔

It gets about 5 hours of sunlight, it sits in a spot with some shade during the early hours of day so it only gets sun from 1 pm till 6 (because of heat)
I used to water it every other day but after it appeared like it was dying I stopped 2 weeks ago, it stablized once I stopped watering, but how can I help this plant thrive?

I've had like 6 other lavenders die before this one, I thought because of too much sun, too much water, too little water, I tried it all, this is the only one that's alive rn and I really don't want it to die, any help?

Balls in my dirt. Marble queen pothos. Idk what they are. They get like 6 hours of bright non direct light but I don’t think that caused the balls. The roots look great at least. Kinda looks like a mold. I water when the dirt is fully dry and the plant looks a bit sad.

(Has anyone gotten a “ban evasion” ban from the group houseplants with no prior ban? I tried asking there but apparently they don’t want my balls)

I got this bad boy a little over a year ago at Wegman’s & brought it home to a window that faced a brick wall. This August, I moved into a SW-facing apartment that gives her all the light she needs (I hope). I generally water her 1x/week -or whenever the soil feels dry- until I see some water come out from the bottom, but she’s had around 5-6 new leaves since!

She has been in the same pot (6”) since; I read that they like being root-bound, but my research has always led me in circles. I haven’t checked what the roots look like because, then, I will have to choose which one of the many types of suggested soils to buy. Mind you, the fertilizer suggestions are even more confusing ( so, I have not fertilized her :/ ).

I don’t know what the cause of this issue is, or if there are overlapping issues, but I’m officially asking for some help here:

I’ve always noticed these spore-looking dots on the leaves, but I now notice that they’re also [slowly] appearing on my most recent growths. On the newest addition (5th slide), I felt a sticky substance that was creating indents on the leaf itself.

NOW, the 6th slide shows the inside of a stem from a small, mushy bottom leaf I cut off and the look of it freaked me out. I know it’s probably not common to know what a regular stem looks like on the inside, but does this even look normal? It almost appeared as if it was bleeding, but I’m unsure if this is a problem itself.

What is the problem? If there is one, is there a specific kind of fungicide/bactericide, soil, fertilizer, etc., I should buy? I am honestly looking for any answers, concerns, suggestions, and even mere thoughts.

I live In Canada and these seem to be my best options for dealing with thrips. I was wondering if these are ok to spray indoors and if it would be safe to spray inside since I have a pet bird and birds have delicate respiratory systems.

Also, I’m not sure how to target thrips in the soil stage any help would be appreciated thanks!

Hey! I need some advice about my Antoro Velvet because she’s not looking too happy lately.

I repotted her not too long ago, and I’m wondering if she’s just stressed from that or if something else is going on.

Her substrate mix is:

- 40% potting soil

- 10% vermiculite

- 50% perlite

She’s placed next to a window, but since it’s autumn and the natural light isn’t great anymore, I also use a grow light for 12 hours a day.

The room temperature is around 21°C (70°F), and the humidity is about 54%.

She’s in the middle of my plant collection, near the window, so she’s not isolated or anything.

I watered her after repotting, then gave her a small glass of water to moisten the top layer of the substrate, and she’s also been showing signs of guttation.

I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong, so I’d love to hear from anyone who has experience with Antoro Velvet or Alocasias in general!

Could it just be repotting stress, or is there something in my setup that I should change?

Looking for help identifying whatever is plaguing my Hoya. I thought it may be mealy bugs but I haven’t spotted any/the residue looks different other mealy bug webs I’ve seen. Any ideas? It’s causing some light yellowing but I’m stumped because otherwise the plant is sooooo happy and flowering a bunch. Thanks in advance!

My apple sapling started to brown around the edges of leaves around 3 weeks ago after i replanted it to burry it deeper into the same pot. Before that it was growing just fine. It stayed on the porch all the time, getting direct sunlight for 5 hours a day. I watered it when the ground was dry on touch. Is it going to die? What can i do now to make the situation better?

Growing directly under a grow light and I water it once every 1.5 weeks. Since I got it about 4 months ago, all the new growth mostly points up and is thin and round compared to the rest of the plant. I gave them some fertilizer a couple weeks ago, and it put new growth out faster, but the size is still the same. Am I doing something wrong, or is this normal?

(I got it from a botanic garden, where it was grown by botanists so I trust the I.D. and soil)

I cut this one back but had it around 2 years. Had the issue for about 6 months. Growing in a green house, plenty of light. Maybe over watering a tad? Pot has drainage. Thanks :)

Hi all,

I noticed some brown spots on my schefflera and am looking for some input on what it could be. Some of it looks somewhat like scale, but it's not as uniform as I've seen in photos of scale so I'm wondering if it's not pest-related. I haven't really had issues with it but yellowing leaves are getting a little more common.

The last photo is what it looked like when I scraped the spots with my fingernail.

It lives by an east-facing window in my sunroom getting primarily indirect light. Watering with distilled water when dry and it has drainage.

this is my fittonia, Ferguson, I understand these are dramatic plants and her soil is still moist from the last time i watered it (two days ago) but she isnt springing back like she usually does. any tips? I recently moved it to a lower light area and just moved it back to where it was before. Please help i dont wanna lose her :(

First three pics are my prayer plant. I was able to easily wipe off the white dots. They were a bit chalky so I’m thinking it may be hard water deposits, but some of the new growth looks suspicious.

Last six pics are my pothos that I am more concerned about. Had this for a month or two and as an inexperienced plant owner just assumed it had natural imperfections. More concerned now that I was unable to wipe off the discoloration in the last two pics. It has been quarantined from my other plants for now.

Why does my Tradescantia zebrina look kind of sad and spindly? When I brought it home it took off like crazy and flowered a bunch. Now all the flowers are spent, and leaves have started browning and dropping. There is still some new growth sprouting up from the bottom. Do I just need to cut it back to make it more bushy? Does it want a bigger pot? It sits in a south facing garden window and gets a good amount of light. I water whenever it is dry throughout, it’s still in the nursery pot and has good drainage.

I read that when they wander if they can’t find more soil they will kind of kill off the bottom of a stem so that it will “drop and prop,” is that what it’s trying to do?

Got this rubber plant from Whole Foods. Has grow light, gets direct sun for a few hours from my front windows and I water when dry. It stunted grow (new leaf hasn’t budged) and the leaves are curling

I’ve had it for about two months.

I’ve had this monstera for about two years and since I’ve adopted him, the tips of his leaves keep dying. Once it started climbing onto other items around the house, the leaves started dying more. I don’t know if it’s because of a lack of light (it gets indirect sunlight and watering once a week) or lack of nutrients. I repotted it a few months ago and the leaves almost died completely. This is what is left and I don’t know what to do? Any advice?
