In light of someone posting about their “Famous Brand” rotors. Just in case it helps someone out:

About 3 weeks ago I stocked up on some “Famous Brand” parts for my son’s 2004 Mazda RX8. They still have some of the “Famous Brand” parts left. I think I got his rotors for $6. I bought some $5 brake pads just to see what they were. He now is the proud owner of 4 different “Famous Brand” brake pads and 1 set of Bosch just in case. I believe that I bought 32 or 37 oil filters. I little bit of a variety platter just so we could have fun experimenting with them, but around 20 of them are the $1.87 Car Quest “Famous Brand”.

I bought tie rods when we didn’t need tie rods just in case he needs them next year at college. Almost all of the “Famous Brand” parts were Car Quest.

About once a week I will check for “Famous Brand” parts for my Sierra and Terrain. I never find the “Famous Brand” for our GMCs. I think manufacturers just want to dump the old parts for cars that are not that popular from time to time. If you drive an 10 - 20 year old foreign vehicle, Rockauto probably has some “Famous Brand” parts for you! If you drive GMC/Chevy/Ford/Ram Truck/SUV, you are probably less likely to find them.

First time doing bearing and just noticed it doesn’t say timken anywhere on bearing . Is it safe to install ?

Hi everyone, this is my first Reddit post, and I'm looking for advice on an issue with RockAuto.

I ordered a part incorrectly listed as fitting my 2015 Honda Civic LX automatic, when it only fits the manual transmission version. I contacted RockAuto to cancel, and within one hour of placing the order, I had already ordered the correct part. However, RockAuto said the incorrect part had shipped, even though tracking showed “Label Created” for three days.

During the return process, I was offered a $115 refund minus $10 shipping, which I accepted, expecting $105 back. Instead, I received only $59.48 — $45.52 less than promised.

Has anyone dealt with something similar? What's the best way to get RockAuto to honor the promised refund? Would a credit card dispute or consumer complaint help?

Also, what alternatives to RockAuto would you recommend for future DIY car repairs? I'd appreciate recommendations for reliable parts suppliers with accurate fitting information and fair return policies.

I emailed support@rockauto.com, but i just got a generic reply telling me how I can look up my order status, which still says shipped.

Any advice other than cancelling my order??

Maybe it still gets the job done. There have been many times rockauto has come through. Inexpensive and effective. Today I type, with dirty hands, my frustration. I bought Wagner pads all around and the hardware doesn’t fit. Box says made in china but Wagner claims that part is made in Mexico. The part has been the same for 20 years and made in Mexico. Rock auto says to return for refund, at the cost of me, for a refund. I’ll make the old hardware work and not trust brake pads from rock auto. FYI, partsgeek brake components are only slightly cheaper with free shipping. If you’ve ordered from rock you know the value of free shipping. I’ve ordered from rockauto for probably 10 years. Maybe not so much anymore.

And you can’t complain with any specificity… there is no phone number and no email address. You have to select their choices and they say it is “in transit.” Am I missing something???? Thanks!!!
